The doctor’s face went pale, and for a second, I thought he would tell me. But then he shook his head, his expression turning grim.

“I can’t. I’d rather die than watch my family die.”

And before I could react, he bit down on his tongue with such force that blood poured from his mouth, and he began to choke, his body convulsing violently as the life drained from his eyes. I left the basement, a cold determination filling me as I headed for the hospital. I’d wasted enough time, played into the hands of people who couldn’t be trusted. Liam was all that mattered now, and if it meant working with Raina to protect him, so be it. Hatred for her infidelity could wait; Liam’s safety couldn’t.

When I got to the hospital, I saw them through the glass door—Raina and Dominic, deep in conversation. I paused, curious, and as I watched, I saw Raina’s expression shift, a mixture of frustration and intensity, and she said something that caught my attention: “I have the evidence, but I need to find my phone.”

My brows knitted together. Evidence? And what exactly was she looking for on that phone? I stepped closer, straining to hear more, but they spoke too softly. Just as I was about to go in, I saw them hug. Dominic’s arms wrapped around her, her head resting against his shoulder in a way that made my blood boil.
