Chapter 41
Chapter 41:
Liam must have been so scared, so alone. And where was I? Consumed by my own bitterness, avoiding the child who bore his mother’s eyes.
Then, the thought hit harder than any punch—I’d taken him from her. I had wrested Liam away from Raina, thinking I was protecting him, thinking I was doing the right thing. But now, with each revelation, the weight of my negligence became crushing. How would Raina look at me if she knew the truth? If she knew how…
Utterly, I had failed to see the signs, how blinded I’d been by my own pride and anger. This wasn’t just a failure—it was an unforgivable betrayal.
“Who?” My voice was barely more than a whisper now, edged with barely contained fury. “Who gave the order?”
The doctor’s face went pale, and for a second, I thought he would tell me. But then he shook his head, his expression turning grim.
“I can’t. I’d rather die than watch my family die.”
And before I could react, he bit down on his tongue with such force that blood poured from his mouth, and he began to choke, his body convulsing violently as the life drained from his eyes. I stared, cold and unmoving, as he slumped over, his final act a last desperate refusal to give me what I wanted. He was gone.
All I had was the knowledge that a woman had been behind this—but which one? Eliza, Vanessa, or my mother… One of them wanted my son dead. My hands clenched at my sides, rage curling through me as I thought of each of them and the games they played. Each of them had their motives, their reasons to hate Raina, and by extension, to see Liam as a problem. And now, one of them had crossed a line that could never be forgiven.
I left the basement, a cold determination filling me as I headed for the hospital. I’d wasted enough time, played into the hands of people who couldn’t be trusted. Liam was all that mattered now, and if it meant working with Raina to protect him, so be it. Hatred for her infidelity could wait; Liam’s safety couldn’t.
When I got to the hospital, I saw them through the glass door—Raina and Dominic, deep in conversation. I paused, curious, and as I watched, I saw Raina’s expression shift, a mixture of frustration and intensity, and she said something that caught my attention: “I have the evidence, but I need to find my phone.”
My brows knitted together. Evidence? And what exactly was she looking for on that phone? I stepped closer, straining to hear more, but they spoke too softly. Just as I was about to go in, I saw them hug. Dominic’s arms wrapped around her, her head resting against his shoulder in a way that made my blood boil.

I’d been patient for long enough. I was done watching her play house with her lover. That was enough. She was still my wife, whether she knew it or not, and I was done watching her with her so-called lover, Dominic, like I was some outsider to my own life. The business deal, the carefully built project, the restrained façade—it was all falling apart in that moment. None of it mattered anymore.
The door burst open as I stormed in, and without thinking, “Get your filthy hands off her, you fucking dick!” I growled, the words seething out with every ounce of venom I had. I went straight for him. I didn’t give him a chance to react—I swung, my fist connecting with his jaw, the impact sending a thrill of satisfaction through me. I didn’t stop. I hit him again and again, each blow fueled by the anger I’d bottled up, all the betrayals and lies that had piled up between us.noveldrama
“Alex, stop!” Raina’s voice cut through the red haze, but I barely registered it, my fists still raining down on him. She screamed, louder this time, her voice piercing through the chaos. “Leave my brother alone!”
Her words froze me in place, my fist still raised. Brother? I turned to her, breathing hard, the realization hitting me like a slap. I looked between them, at Dominic’s bleeding lip, at Raina’s shocked, furious expression, and suddenly it was as if the ground had fallen out from under me.
