Chapter 1203
"Just let them go like that? That's too lenient." Randy shook his head as he watched the group walk away.
Debra replied, "They're just workers taking orders. They didn't complete their mission, so there was no money for them. And they got beaten up. Keeping them here is meaningless."
"Fair point." Randy nodded.
Debra turned to Marion. "Are you hurt?"
"Not at all." Marion spread his arms wide for her to check. "They couldn't even reach me."
Randy mimicked their interaction as he turned to Erica.
"Are you hurt? Let me check."
"What do you think? Just a bunch of weaklings."
"Aren't you invincible?"
"That's right."
Barton entered the room and said, "Mrs. Houston, Joe is here."
Joe stepped inside. "Mrs. Houston."noveldrama
"What's the matter?" Debra asked, unsure of the situation.
She had just left the office, and Joe came to see her. It couldn't be anything good.
"Mrs. Nichols Sr. would like to see you," Joe replied.
Erica stepped forward. "Debra is part of the Houston family now. We won't let her
go."
"That's right," Randy echoed. "That
old lady never has good intention et
Now that her favorite CEO is ousted, she must be planning her revenue.
Debra asked, "If she had something to say, why didn't she say it earlier? Why a private meeting?"
"Mrs. Nichols Sr. said she has a box of items in your possession. She hopes to have a peaceful talk with you," Joe explained.
Everyone exchanged glances,
thinking back to the night when they sorted the wedding gifts. Among them was a sapphire gem sent by Jordan and Melody's box contained a sapphire ring almost identical in color and quality.
"Fine, let's meet her," Debra said. "I'm Mrs. Houston now, and Melody doesn't hold any real power, so it's fine."
Erica was worried. "That old lady plays dirty. Let me come with you."
"I'll go with you," Marion chimed in.
Debra took his hand in hers and then turned to Joe. "My husband will accompany
me. That shouldn't be a problem, right?"
Joe hesitated. "Mrs. Nichols Sr. wants to meet with you alone."
"You see, she's asking to see me, not the other way around," Debra reasoned, "If she doesn't agree, then there's nothing to talk about. She pledged the box to pay her debt to the Vargas family. She's welcome to redeem it anytime."
"Mrs. Houston..."
"If she won't accept my terms, then we're done here."
She wasn't so harsh with Joe because of his kindness in the past. Had it been
anyone else, she would've thrown them out long ago.
What do you think?
