Chapter 519 Taking Advantage of Miss Johnson

Chapter 519 Taking Advantage of Miss Johnson

Damien and Clarissa were quite silent, but the atmosphere between them was pretty ambiguous. The

latter felt that she could hear the former’s heartbeat to boot.

Damien could no longer hold himself back. He lowered his head and planted a kiss on her forehead.

“I heard your university’s going to bestow someone with the ‘honorary professor’ title. Let me see who’s

the recipient of this esteemed title. I’d like to know who else is on par with me,” he said, looking into

Clarissa’s eyes.

She tightened her grip on his arm as she stared back.

‘Did he find out that Seth’s coming?’ she thought frantically.

Clarissa was afraid the longer she remained in Damien’s arms, the higher the chance of her revealing

her thoughts. So, she decided to step away from him.

With her heart slowly calming down, she suggested, “I’m heading to the university cafeteria now for

lunch. Are you coming?”

Damien replied, “Sure.”

Clarissa didn’t know what to say.

Those were just words of courtesy. She said that to let Damien know she was heading out, so in a way,

it was a tactful notice for him to leave. Who would have thought he would treat it as a legitimate

invitation and accept it instead?

Spoken words were akin to spilled water. Clarissa couldn’t take back what she said.

In the end, the duo headed toward the staff cafeteria.

Clarissa grabbed two trays and handed one to Damien.

“Just let me know what you’d like to eat. I’ll treat you to this meal with my meal ticket,” she said.

Only meal tickets were permitted in the cafeteria. Cash was prohibited.

Unexpectedly, Damien decided to take advantage of Clarissa’s courteousness. He ordered fish, crab

cakes, chicken nuggets, a few side dishes that comprised of vegetables, and a bowl of soup.

“What a shame,” he commented.

“Why would you say that?” Clarissa looked slightly disgusted at the sight of the dishes Damien had Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

ordered.

“I wanted nothing more than to take advantage of you, Miss Johnson. Unfortunately, the dishes in this

cafeteria are too cheap, so the advantage here is a little too limited for my own liking.”

“I don’t have that much money on me.”

“So? Are you asking me for a loan? What about the share you obtained in the past? It was a sum of

150 million dollars, right? The interest itself is already higher than your monthly salary.”

Clarissa’s hand froze for a moment. “That’s your money, so I’m not going to use it. I only used the five

million dollars that are rightfully mine.”

“What are you saying? Are you trying to save money for me?” Damien replied coldly.

If Clarissa said she only spent the five million dollars that were rightfully hers, that meant she still

treated her marriage with Damien as a marriage of contract. Since the contract was legal, she treated

the five million dollars as her reward. She had never viewed herself as Mrs. Lawrence, hence she

thought of herself to be unworthy to receive that much money.

“I’ll feel guilty if I were to spend a cent of those 150 million dollars.”

After that, the couple ate quietly. Chanel happened to be there for lunch as well. When she noticed

Clarissa and Damien eating together, she approached them immediately.

“It’s rare to see you here, Mr. Lawrence. You’re considered a rare guest of sorts,” she commented.

“Have a seat.” Damien knew exactly the kind of person Chanel was. She bore the typical

characteristics of one with high intelligence. Typically speaking, such people tended to come up with

the most torturous and brutal ideas that aimed for the jugular right away. Damien was worried that

Chanel might harm Clarissa, so he still put up a normal façade in front of her.

Clarissa also ‘invited’ Chanel to sit with them courteously.

“Am I really not disturbing you two if I join you at this table?” Chanel asked in a faux sincere tone.

“We’re just having a meal together. What’s there to disturb?” Damien asked.

The ambiguous side of him that was filled with lustful charm and possessive love for Clarissa he had

exhibited in her house had completely disappeared. Once again, Damien became the big boss

everyone was afraid of, his expression now icy and stony. One look at him could make Chanel shiver in

fright for the rest of the day.

“So, is Caleb drafting into the military set in stone?” Chanel asked both Clarissa and Damien.

“Of course. The outcome can never be changed. He deserved to suffer for what he’s done,” Damien

replied.

As expected, Chanel was shivering in fear. She was supposed to be the one suffering from the

consequences.

Then again, since Caleb was destined to draft into the army, Chanel had a feeling neither Damien nor

Clarissa suspected her involvement. Hence, she heaved a mental sigh of relief.

Clarissa was slightly weirded out. ‘Damien didn’t say that at home. Why did he change his mind in such

a short time?’

However, she chose to say nothing.

“Whoever dares to pull off despicable and underhanded stunts like this in the future shall face the

music in the most horrendous way.” Damien grabbed a napkin and dabbed at his mouth after he was

done eating.

He looked very noble and elegant when he was doing that, and his words were spoken in a casual and

light-hearted manner. One would have never thought he would speak of such cold and heartless things

nonchalantly.

As Damien’s ex-classmate, Chanel knew of his personality all too well. Thus, she didn’t dare to utter a

word in reply.
