When he checked the room number, his claws trembled uncontrollably. The next moment, he rapped his knuckles against the door. With a force that knocked it wide open, Nelly appeared in the doorway.
Her face was flushed and she struggled to remain upright. Just as Alpha Kilian was about to speak, she collapsed into his welcoming embrace.
“Nelly! Nelly!” he called out anxiously, not even realizing the change in his voice. He felt a sticky warmth on his hands and quickly noticed the blood that stained her wrists.
“What did he do to you?” His eyes burned with rage.
“I’m fine,” she weakly replied.
“You’re not fine!” he snapped back, his expression turning feral. In that moment, he looked as if he was ready to tear someone apart.
Suddenly, the sound of running water from the bathroom caught their attention. Just as Alpha Kilian prepared to take action, Nelly spoke up, “I hurt myself to stay conscious. He didn’t touch me.”
Right on cue, the water ceased flowing and Dave emerged from the bathroom, wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. Bare-chested and lecherous, he froze when he saw the scene before him.
With Alpha Kilian positioned against the light, Dave couldn’t make out his face clearly. Nevertheless, he grew furious at the sight of Nelly seeking help. Unwilling to let his prey slip away, he approached them and bellowed, “Who the hell are you? Did you stumble into the wrong room? Leave now!”
But Alpha Kilian didn’t give him a chance as he swiftly delivered a kick, catching Dave off guard. The impact sent him sprawling backward, unable to regain his footing.
“How dare you! How dare you kick me! You must have a death wish! Who the hell are you? I’ll make you pay!” Dave screamed in fury.
“You’re not worthy of knowing my name,” Alpha Kilian spat back.
If Nelly hadn’t been injured, he would have done more than just kick Dave. Sensing Alpha Kilian’s readiness for another attack, Nelly weakly interjected, “There’s time for revenge later. Right now, I need to rest.”
Seeing the condition of the woman in his arms, Alpha Kilian suppressed his urge to teach Dave a lesson.
“I’ll take you to the healing center,” he gruffly announced.
“Okay,” she nodded.
With that, Alpha Kilian scooped her up and began to make their way out. The others who had been in the room joined them, questioning what had happened.
“What occurred, Alpha Kilian?” one of them asked.
Instinctively, Alpha Kilian shielded Nelly’s face against his chest and the man immediately pieced together the scene. After briefly glancing into the room and spotting Dave, he asked, “Was it you who did this to him?”
“I don’t want anyone to know about what happened today,” Alpha Kilian replied firmly.
“Are you just going to let him get away with it?” the man pressed.
“I have my own plans,” Alpha Kilian declared, walking away with Nelly in his arms without looking back.
On the ground, Dave heard their conversation clearly.
Alpha Kilian? Why does that name sound so familiar?
He turned to the others by the door and inquired, “Who is the man that just left?”
“Oh, he’s nobody. Just the alpha of the Morris pack, Alpha Kilian Morris,” came the response.
Dave’s face fell.
Oh no! I’ve messed with the wrong person!
After settling Nelly in the car, Alpha Kilian wasted no time in driving to the healing center.
In the passenger seat, Nelly weakly leaned against the seat, her body still weak but her mind clear.
Sweat dripped down her forehead, dampening her hair, and her cheeks remained flushed. However, her lips appeared paler than before.
“Hang on. We’ll reach the healing center soon,” Alpha Kilian assured her.
Putting pressure on her wounds, Nelly managed a smile. “I’ll be fine. The effects of the drugs will wear off when I release some blood. We don’t need to go to the healing center.”
As he looked at her smile, Alpha Kilian couldn’t help but think how beautiful she still looked despite the chaos surrounding her.
He tore his gaze away, commenting, “Seems like you’re quite knowledgeable.”
“When you’ve been through a lot, you learn how to handle it without needing to be taught,” Nelly replied.
Her response caught Alpha Kilian off guard, and he turned to look at her.
But she didn’t elaborate further.Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Caught off guard by her strength, Alpha Kilian instructed, “Stop talking and get some rest. We’ll be at the healing center soon.”
Nelly fell silent and closed her eyes. However, as she shut her eyelids, she murmured, “Please drive slower. I don’t want to die in your arms.”
Alpha Kilian was left speechless.
If it were any other woman, they would be wailing in distress after such an ordeal.
But Nelly, instead, was cracking jokes as if nothing had happened.
With that thought in his mind, he failed to notice the turmoil stirring in his own heart.
When Nelly opened her eyes again, she found herself in the healing center, surrounded by IV drips and bandages that covered her wounds.
Noticing that Alpha Kilian was still by her side, she checked the time and realized it was already late at night.
“Thank you for helping me today. It’s late now. You should go home and rest,” Nelly said, clearly hinting at his departure.
Alpha Kilian furrowed his brow. “Is that all you’re going to say to me?”
“I’ll sort out the medical bills another day. I don’t have the energy to deal with it now,” she added.
Frustration welled up within Alpha Kilian upon hearing her words.
Was this woman truly ungrateful?
Taking a deep breath, he replied, “Fine. Since you insist, I’ll leave.” With that, he turned and walked away.
Observing that Nelly made no effort to stop him, he opened the door and departed without hesitation, fueled by his anger.
Watching him disappear from her sight, Nelly averted her gaze and searched for her bag. Spotting it nearby, she mustered the strength to reach for it.
Retrieving her phone, she sent a message to their family group chat, named “The Pack,” informing them that she wouldn’t be able to make it home that night due to unforeseen circumstances.
Alpha Wade and the three kids asked for an explanation.
As Nelly prepared to respond, the door burst open and Alpha Kilian strode into the ward.
Startled by his sudden appearance, Nelly quickly informed her family group chat that she had something to attend to before putting her phone away.
“Did you forget something?” she asked, her eyes fixed on him.
Approaching her, Alpha Kilian met her gaze with cold intensity. “Even if you’re ungrateful, I’m not. I’ll only leave once you’ve recovered, for old times’ sake.”
Nelly didn’t expect his response.
For old times’ sake? Did we even have any kind of relationship back then?
It dawned on her that her hopes for a happy marriage had been nothing but wishful thinking, and there was no real connection between them.
“That won’t be necessary,” she replied.
“Nelly, are you even a woman?” Alpha Kilian asked suddenly, his tone harsh with his frustration at her strength.
Nelly blinked in surprise. “It’s pretty obvious that I am.”
“Other women would be sobbing after going through something like this. But you, besides being ungrateful for my presence, how dare you try to shoo me away?” Alpha Kilian retorted.
“So, you prefer that kind of woman?” Nelly asked, leaving Alpha Kilian at a loss for words.
“Lara is that kind of woman, isn’t she?” she added, questioning him further.
Though her body was weak, her spirit remained strong.
