Alpha Kilian left the hospital, his mind overwhelmed with the unfamiliar sensation of not knowing what was happening in his surroundings. He had spent the night sleeping on a couch, completely unaware of the events unfolding around him. As he switched on his cellphone, a notification from his bank account startled him, indicating a sudden influx of 10 million dollars. Confusion washed over him, but it turned into shock when he saw that the sender was none other than Nelly Jackson, his former wife.
Questions filled Alpha Kilian’s mind. How had Nelly, who had never displayed signs of great wealth, accumulated such a fortune? He remembered their humble beginnings, living in a pack more akin to a lowly village, despite her ancestry tracing back to a powerful Alpha and their supposed connection to a castle. Nelly had always strived to portray herself as an elegant lady, but her attempts had always fallen short. He had never known her to be rich, especially since her bank card was consistently empty. The situation begged the question of how she had obtained such an exorbitant amount of money. Unable to bear the suspicion any longer, he immediately called Nelly, hoping for an explanation.
“Nelly, where in the world did you get that money?” Alpha Kilian demanded.
“I robbed the bank,” came Nelly’s shocking and unexpected response.
Her answer left Alpha Kilian speechless for a moment. “You didn’t take Old Mr. Jackson’s money, did you?” he asked, his voice filled with concern.
“Excuse me? Do you think I’m that kind of person?” Nelly retorted, offended by the implication.
As the truth slowly unveiled itself, Alpha Kilian began to realize how little he truly knew about Nelly. How had she known his bank account number? Nelly reminded him that they were once married, and she had seen his card before. Remembering the numbers was second nature to her, as she had developed an uncanny ability for such things as a programmer. It dawned on him that he had underestimated her. Overwhelmed by a mix of emotions, Alpha Kilian abruptly ended the call in a fit of anger.
Nelly, feeling a sense of relief, received a text from Alpha Kilian shortly after. It stated that he had returned the money and requested her to confirm. The message left her speechless, uncertain of his intentions. Before she could respond, another text arrived, informing her that he had canceled the card and directing her to return the money to his grandfather.
Caught off guard by Alpha Kilian’s behavior, Nelly found herself at a loss for words. It seemed he was flaunting his wealth, forcing her hand in returning the money. She was left bewildered and unable to comprehend his motives.
Alpha Kilian, now left alone, leaned back in his chair and furrowed his brow. He realized that he had never truly known the woman he once called his wife. To him, Nelly had always appeared as a dull, country girl who lacked refined tastes. But now, he couldn’t help but ponder over her true identity and the nature of her work.
Curiosity gnawed at him, and he turned to his assistant, Fabian. “Do programmers earn a lot of money?” he questioned, his voice filled with curiosity.
Fabian, caught off guard by the sudden inquiry, responded, “Well, that’s what I’ve heard.”
Alpha Kilian pressed further. “How long would it take a programmer to make ten million?”
Fabian pondered for a moment. “I believe programmers can earn a substantial amount, but it could take them ten to twenty years to accumulate that kind of wealth.”
Alpha Kilian’s face tightened with confusion. “If that’s the case, where did Nelly get all that money?”
With a wry smile, Fabian replied, “I’m afraid I don’t have the answer to that, Alpha Morris.”
Alpha Kilian’s brows furrowed deeper as he delved into his thoughts. “Is Ms. Jackson truly that wealthy?” Fabian inquired.
Instead of providing an answer, Alpha Kilian fixed him with an intense gaze. “Fabian.”
“Yes, Alpha Morris?”
“I want you to investigate Nelly for me. Uncover all the details about her, especially her activities in recent years. I want to uncover her true identity,” Alpha Kilian commanded.
Fabian expressed concern. “Are you sure you want to delve into Ms. Jackson’s life like this? It might not be a wise move.”
Alpha Kilian shot an intimidating glance at Fabian, causing him to shudder. “I do this out of concern for Nelly’s past. Do as I ask, Fabian.”
Understanding the seriousness of the situation, Fabian nodded. “All right, Alpha Morris. I will see to it.”
Alpha Kilian glanced away, his mind filled with uncertainty. “Wake me when you have arrived. I need to take a nap.”This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
“Of course,” Fabian acknowledged, feeling a sense of relief as he left the room.
Alpha Kilian arrived at his castle and quickly took a bath, changing into fresh clothes. Determined to uncover the truth, he headed straight to the office.
As he conducted a meeting, Fabian discreetly entered the conference room and whispered in Alpha Kilian’s ear. Perplexed by the information, Alpha Kilian decided to end the meeting prematurely. He excused himself and made his way to his office, with Fabian following close behind.
To his surprise, Nelly was waiting for him, sitting in a chair with a box by her side. Alpha Kilian’s gaze fixated on her as he walked past, his mind flooded with unanswered questions.
Nelly turned to face him. “I hope I didn’t disturb you,” she said, her voice filled with a sense of determination.
Confused by her comment, Alpha Kilian asked, “What do you mean?”
Nelly’s eyes focused on him intensely. “The car is downstairs,” she stated firmly.
Alpha Kilian looked at her incredulously. “I told you to send the money to Grandpa.”
“If only I knew how to deliver the money to Old Alpha Morris,” Nelly responded defiantly.
“What makes you think I’ll accept the money?” Alpha Kilian challenged.
“You have to,” Nelly proclaimed, placing the box of cash on his desk. “I’m giving you two options. Either keep the car or keep the money.”
The sight of stacks of cash left Fabian in disbelief. Unable to contain his curiosity, he asked, “Ms. Jackson, are those real banknotes? I’ve only seen figures on a screen, never actual cash. May I take a look?”
“Sure,” Nelly responded, obliging his request.
Just as Fabian was about to step forward, Nelly interjected, “Take a good look at the money and convince your boss to accept it.”
Caught between Nelly’s assertive demeanor and Alpha Kilian’s piercing gaze, Fabian found himself unsure of the next course of action. Sensing his trepidation, Nelly spoke again. “I’ll leave you two alone now,” she declared before making her exit.
Left alone in the office with Nelly, Alpha Kilian approached her and took a seat opposite her, lounging in the chair. “I told you to deliver the money to Grandpa,” he reiterated.
Nelly leaned forward, placing her palms on the desk. “Did your grandpa tell you to do this, or do you simply not care about the money? Old Alpha Morris doesn’t want it, and it seems you don’t want it either.”
Alpha Kilian evasively replied, “What do you think?”
Nelly’s narrowed eyes betrayed her suspicion. “Unless you have ulterior motives?”
Silence hung in the air as Alpha Kilian continued to gaze at her without uttering a word.
After a momentary pause, Nelly locked eyes with him once again and posed a daring question. “Unless you have feelings for me?”
Alpha Kilian chuckled mockingly, attempting to brush off the question. “Has your newfound confidence made you narcissistic? Do you think you’re prettier now?”
Nelly immediately retaliated, challenging his statement. “Do you think I look prettier?”
Caught off guard by her response, Alpha Kilian momentarily froze. Instead of directly complimenting her, he pondered his words before responding, “You do appear more presentable than before.”
Nelly’s relief was evident as she sighed softly. “I’m glad to hear that. So, which will it be? The money or the car?”
With a sudden change in demeanor, Alpha Kilian sat up straight in his chair. “What if I told you I’m interested in you? Would you keep the car?”
Nelly, startled by his unexpected declaration, found herself momentarily stationary, her future hanging in the balance.
