DARK MOON PACK
Edda’s Point of View
I woke up to total silence in the room. I rubbed my eyelids to have a clear vision. My gaze flickered towards the windows and I realized that it was dawn. If you ask me, dawn came to quickly and it seemed like I haven’t slept at all. The alarm beeped with the red light displaying 8:00 am. The bed space was empty which only means one thing-Riley didn’t come home last night again.
It has been four days since my son made the announcement about finding his soulmate. Alexander left the next morning without me knowing and he didn’t say a word to anyone. Riley hasn’t been home, it doesn’t look like he cared about our son leaving home and he had also texted me not to come look for him. And in the message, he stated that he would be busy attending meetings but I knew it was an excuse to avoid having a conversation with me.
I reached for my cellphone under the pillow. There was no missed calls or messages from my husband which seemed to piss off my wolf. My phone beeped and showed incoming message. I clicked the screen when Alexander’s name popped up.
‘Good morning mom. How are you doing? I am texting to let you know that I won’t be home for the next couple of months. If dad is not ready to accept Avery as my mate then I’ll court her on my own will. Don’t try to find me. I am doing okay. Love, Alex.’
It was clear that Alexander was rebelling against his father. I can’t sit back and watch my family fall apart because of these stubborn and strong willed wolves. If I stay back at home and do nothing these wolves might be the death of me. Father and son not getting along well and disagreeing on every matter doesn’t sit well with me.
I crawled out of bed and made a quick trip into the bathroom to take a shower. I finished up, got dressed and picked up my phone on the bed. I motioned out of the room texting on my phone to reply Alex.
‘Please son, don’t stay away from home. I need to see you around. I’ll try to talk to your dad and make sure he accepts your mate and also give you his blessing.’ I read what I just typed and sent the text to him.
“Where are you going mom?” I heard my daughter’s voice.
My head snapped up to look at Elena who was sweating profusely. She was standing at the door and dressed in a combat suit.
“I need to see your dad and talk to him about your brother.” I replied with a raised eyebrow.
“I tried texting Alex but he read my message and didn’t reply.” Elena said.
I eyed the outfit on her body. “Your brother just sent me a text. He is not coming home anytime soon.”
“Oops! That’s not good.” Elena shook her head as she walked closer to me.
“What’s with the combat suit?” I asked, pointing at her.
A slow smile crept up on her face. “I have finally found what I want to do in life.” Elena answered with a shrug.
“So what is it?” I asked.
“I want to be a warrior. I have registered my name in the academy and we did the sparring battle today.” Elena explained.
“Oh! I didn’t know you would be interested in such a thing.” I would have given her a motherly hug but she is too sweaty and dirty to be embraced right now. But I made sure to plaster a happy smile on my face.
“So how is your first training?”
Elena giggled. “Great! I won’t against my sparring mate!” She answered with excitement in her tone.
“Perhaps do I know your sparring mate?” I arched my brows.
“The beta’s daughter. Jasmine seems uninterested in joining the academy although she fights so well. I didn’t like that she let me beat her so easily so she could drop out of the academy.” Elena frowned and crossed her arms over her chest.
“Why is she uninterested when she fights so well?” I furrowed my eyebrows deeply.
Beta Jones has been training his daughter since she hit 12 because he wanted her to be stronger than her friends and also be a warrior. Jasmine is Alex’s good friend. She seemed interested in fighting even at a tender age because she and Alex had trained together. But I am surprised to hear that she is not interested in joining the academy anymore.
“Mom, you don’t know the reason?” Elena’s arms dropped down to her side.
“Is there something going on with Jasmine? Maybe she is not feeling well.” I replied.
Elena let out a loud sigh. “The truth is Jasmine loves Alex. And the only reason why she started training is because her dad promised to let her train with him. But Alex already found his mate which only means that she can’t be more than friends with him so she is not interested in joining the academy anymore.” Elena pointed out.
“Oh!” I mouthed.
“I feel bad for Jasmine. She has a lot on her mind and can’t share it with anyone.” Elena huffed.
“I didn’t expect that Alex would tell Jasmine about finding his mate. And her being in love with-”
Elena interrupted me sharply. “What do you expect mom? Jasmine is his best friend so she knows every thing about him. And Alex is aware of her feelings towards him but he already made things clear that they can’t be more than friends even before finding his mate. So Jasmine is working so hard to get over him.”
My phone pinged again. “It is good that he made things clear. So what’s Jasmine’s plan since she is dropping out of the academy?” I glanced down at the device in my hand.
“She is going to do what she has always wanted to do.” Elena answered.
“And that is..” I read Alex’s message in my head.
‘Avery can’t wait to meet you.’
“Jasmine is moving out of the pack to enroll in a school of culinary. She wants to be a chef.” Elena responded.
I heaved a sigh. “I don’t know if her dad would allow her leave the pack when she can learn everything here.”
Elena pulled off her boot. “Jasmine might run away if her dad says no. She can’t stand seeing Alex with his mate so she needs to stay away. And if I am not wrong she might tell the truth about her feeling to the beta with the hope that he understands her and considers her emotions.” She walked away into the kitchen.
“The beta is not heartless. If she comes out clean he might let her go and support her plan.” I added.
“I hope so too. Have a good time talking to dad! I can’t help not texting my only brother. It is annoying that he doesn’t reply my messages!” Elena said loudly all the way from the kitchen.
“I’ll talk to Alex.” I assured her.
“No need to do that! He might feel too important and decide to tease me about it when we see again!” Elena replied.
I couldn’t hold back the laughter. “I am off to see your dad!” I started towards the door and let myself out to the porch.
‘I hope to see her soon too. Try to reply your sister she is worried about you.’ I texted my son.
Alexander and Elena might derive pleasure in teasing each other but the love between them can’t be doubted. Alexander remains the over protective and caring elder brother.
My children may have their flaws but I am also glad that I raised them so well to love and cherish each other. I was happy Elena would stop staying at home. At least now, she would get to mingle with other wolves and make new friends in the academy.
