Chapter 400
Chapter 400
Sofia’s pov
“Stay down.” Luca husked out and I gulped, nodding my head hastily while an intense feeling of fear
clog up my wind pipe, making it hard for me to suck breaths into my lungs.
A few more gunshots echoed in the sky, along with the sounds of glass shattering, making me scared
to my bones. The soft look which had been on Luca’s face moments ago was nowhere to be found,
and in its place, laid a very blank and stoic facial expression that had me biting on my bottom lip
nervously.
As he unwrapped his arms from around my waist, a gust of wind hit me from nowhere in the next
fleeting moment, making it seem like Luca’s arms around me was all it took to keep the cold away from
me completely.
With my heart in my throat, I watched as Luca pulled out two guns from his body, along with a few
knives. I gulped once again, flinching when a few more gunshots echoed out in the open air.
“L- luca–” I began to speak in a small shaky voice, while trying my best to stop myself from trembling
but Luca’s low voice made me trail off.
“Shh….” He palmed my cheeks with one of his cold hands and I pressed my cheek into his palm
instantly while blinking up at him, feeling extremely scared for the both of us tonight, but it didn’t seem
like Luca was bothered one bit, telling from the blank expression on his face, which is what’s still
keeping me from breaking out in tears yet.
“Nothing’s going to happen to you, okay?” He reassured in a low voice, thumb dragging over my
cheeks while his other hand uncocked his two guns one after the other.
“But, what about… you?” I asked while my heart thudded harshly against the inside of my chest.
Luca only shook his head as he made sure I was cocooned in a spot that was hidden, right before he
pushed himself to his full height.
“I’ll protect you, that’s what.”
As I watched him leave, the fear in me intensified, multiplying into a thousand folds at once and it took
everything in me to not scream out his name for him to come back, or for me to discard his order for me
to stay hidden and go with him.
Different scenarios took place in my head at once, along with the sounds of the reechoing gunshots,
which is only making me feel more and more tired. I thought back to the insistent Luca and I had come
across back in the States at the club where someone had tried to kill him. I wondered if that was the
same thing happening all over again and that thought was enough to make my entire body freeze up in
fear.
Moments later, more gunshots began to echo out, along with the sounds of people grunting. The sound
of a table collapsing made me gasp and out of curiosity, I inched out of my hiding place and there, I
saw how Luca dealt with the stupid people who had thought it was sensible to go up against Luca.
Luca fought hand-to-hand with the last two guys standing and it didn’t take long for Luca to push the
first one off the roof. I gasped and hastily slapped my hand over my lips before a sound could slip out.
By the time the fight was over, Luca was sweating and one part of his suit jacket was torn. His knife
was bloodied as well, along with a part of his cloth.
I swallowed emptily, watching as he threw the knife at the lifeless body of the man whom he had been
fighting with moments ago. If Luca had been a little bit slow, that might have been him in the lifeless
man’s place.
Luca walked towards me, taking easy steps as he shrugged off his suit jacket and discarded it on the
ground as soon as he cleaned his hands on it.
He held his hand out to me once he was a few inches away from me and I bit on my bottom lip as I
slipped my hand into his, feeling intense relief clog up my throat, making my eyes sting a little.
“Let’s get out of here.” Luca’s voice was low as he spoke, and I drew strength from the way his grip
tightened on my fingers.

Luca’s car thankfully hadn’t been affected in the entire fight, and it didn’t take long for him to stop the
car at a destination that I didn’t recognize. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Turns out that was the location which Luca had schooled in.
Luca was standing, while I sat on the hood of his car. He recounted a few memories of his childhood to
me which made me collapse in laughter countless times, making my heart feel extremely lighter
because I’ve always wanted him to open up to me more and more.
Hopefully, he’d open up to me more and more.
He stood in the spot between my legs, hands loosely wrapped around my waist while my hands moved
through his hair. I’ve missed doing this so damn much that it felt almost foreign to me at first.
I’ve missed being in his arms, missed the feeling of him staring at me like I was the entire world– like
he was doing right now. He was regarding me through his long lashes, gray eyes so intense, it felt like I
was being unraveled in his presence all over again.
I moved my fingers from his hair, tentatively dragging it down the sides of his face to cup his cheeks in
my palms.
The shared handsomeness of his face hit home in that particular moment like it usually does at
unexpected moments, making me bite on my bottom lip as I averted my gaze from his to puff out a little
breath.
“Don’t ever hurt me again.” I breathed out, tightening my hold on his warm face as I continued.
“Knowingly or unknowingly… don’t ever do it again.”
Luca’s grip around my waist tightened at that moment and next, he tugged me against him even more
until I felt a little tremor slid down my spine.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” He husked out, hands digging into my hips some more as he spoke.
“You promise?” I whispered in a small voice and Luca loosened one of his hold around my waist to
grasp my chin, making me gasp a little.
“I promise.” He whispered in response, voice low and ragged as he tugged my mouth down atop his in
a slow kiss that made my toes curl as my heartbeat accelerated crazily.
