Chapter 5 Doubt
Chapter 5 Doubt
The thought of pregnancy terrified me. But as soon as the thought came up, I subjectively denied it.
When I was pregnant before and had a miscarriage, the doctor clearly stated that it would be difficult
for me to get pregnant again. Because of this, I did not take any protective measures when something
happened between me and Gavin.
Although I had irregular periods two months ago, I never paid attention to it because the doctor said it
was the result of my miscarriage. But now the physical state is too much like pregnancy. I need to be
even more careful. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
If I was really pregnant, it went without saying whose child it was. Roger had not touched me since my
miscarriage. The only man I'd ever had sex with was Gavin. Just the thought of having a baby by Gavin
made me cringe.
This thought occupied my mind all night long. I was sleepless whole night and when I woke up in the
morning I had big eyebags. Before work, I put on makeup to cover my dark circles in case anyone
might ask about it. Whether it was out of concern or just questioning, I could not deal with that right
now.
During my work, I was still troubled by the thought of being pregnant. I didn't rest well last night either,
so I received a lot of stares. In order to clear up my suspicion, I rushed into the pharmacy and bought
pregnancy strips.
Back at home, my hands shook as I looked at how to interpret the results of the test. Afterwards, I went
to the bathroom to try it out, only to find out something I could hardly believe. I looked at the two bars
showed positive. The first thing I thought was that maybe the test sheet had been affected by the
moisture, so the result could be wrong. Well, disregarding the other test sheets, I went downstairs and
went to the pharmacy nearby and bought a box of pregnancy test sticks.
When I went to pay for the pregnancy test sticks, I was a little embarrassed. I came out in a hurry and
took nothing with me but my keys. I did not have any money on me. As I was about to tell the cashier I
would buy it later, someone came up to me, tapped me on the shoulder and said, "What a coincidence!
We meet again."
I immediately turned my head. It turned out to be the Gavin! Only then did I remember that this guy also
lived nearby. But does not he live in a high-end residential area? What's he doing here?
"Yeah. What a coincidence!" I said with a stiff smile.
"What's wrong with you? Are you buying meds? Are you not feeling well?"
"Ah? No... no, I'm here to buy vitamins... Why don't you pay first? I'll see around."
The cashier looked at us with a puzzled look. Secretly, in my heart, I thanked her for not exposing my
lies. But Gavin insisted. He said, "No, pay together. I want to see what kind of vitamins you buy. If it's
good, I'll buy some too."
The cashier looked at me. I did not know what to say, so I just turned my head away. Gavin took the
bag, opened it, and said to himself, "Last night my 'home service' stood me up, and I was so mad that I
had a stomachache all night. I have not recovered all day. It seems my body needs more nourishment."
Suddenly I had an idea. I grabbed the bag and said, "Mr. Stone! Your stomachache is not a mild illness.
Taking medicine will not solve it. You need to get some rest. Why don't I write you some diet recipes?
You can take them to take care of yourself slowly."
Gavin laughed and said, "I don't think you have that kind of skill. But I still need to take the stomach
medicine. It works fast, and can save me a lot of trouble."
He reached out and grabbed the plastic bag, and we stood still. I kept smiling embarrassedly at him,
and he slowly realized something was wrong and said, "Darcey, you didn't buy some shameful health
care products, like contraceptives or condoms?"
