Chapter 89
Aaron!
What on earth was he doing here?!
"Aaron..." Matthew approached nervously. "Why are you here?"
Aaron replied, "Has Cynthia found a donor match?"
This morning, after sobering up, Frederick mentioned that Matthew had visited
him last night, claiming that Cynthia Lynwood had found a donor match. Such a
significant development demanded Aaron's personal attention.
"Well... um..." Matthew stammered, unable to form a proper sentence.
Aaron's eyes narrowed. "What's going on?"
Just then, a voice rang out from the direction of the operating room. Cynthia Lynwood exclaimed, “Serena... be gentle... my neck..."
Aaron's expression shifted immediately, and he strode quickly towards Operating Room M.
Matthew tried to intervene but was too late.
As Aaron entered the operating room, he was confronted with the sight of Serena gripping Cynthia Lynwood's neck. Serena's other hand was cuffed to the operating table.
"What on earth is happening here?" Aaron's voice was as icy as a winter storm. Serena jerked Cynthia's neck up. "Stay back! If you come any closer, I'll kill her!"
Aaron halted, his mind racing. "Serena, calm down. Do you even know what you're doing?"
"Of course I do." Serena's eyes bore into Aaron's, filled with an intensity that matched her past affection with newfound animosity. "Aaron, you've crossed every line with me."
"What are you talking about?"
"All you care about is Cynthia Lynwood. Have you ever thought about me, even a little? Her life is precious, but mine isn't? Why should I be the one to donate a kidney for her?"
Seeing the redness in Serena's eyes, Aaron finally grasped the situation.
He turned his head, fixing a cold gaze on Matthew. "Yesterday, you said Cynthia found a match. You meant Serena?"noveldrama
Matthew glanced at Cynthia Lynwood. Cynthia, struggling to breathe under Serena's grip, lifted her tear-filled eyes and shook her head slightly.
Matthew's lips trembled as he forced out a response. "Yes."
Aaron's face tightened, words escaping him.
Serena let out a bitter laugh. "Aaron, stop pretending. Didn't you sign the consent form? Your signature is right there."
Aaron's expression darkened, his gaze sharpening as it turned back to Matthew, who lowered his head in silence.
"It's not what you think." Aaron looked back at Cynthia, gasping for air in Serena's hold. He furrowed his brows and said, "Let Cynthia go."
Serena took a deep breath. "I don't trust you, unless you let me leave Alderburg."
"No way!" Aaron replied without hesitation.
Serena tightened her grip on Cynthia's neck. "Then I'll take her with me!"
Cynthia screamed in terror, "No, Aaron, help me, please... I don't want to die...”
Aaron's temples throbbed intensely.
"Anything but leaving Alderburg," he relented, "I can agree to anything else."
Serena's face softened slightly. "Fine, no one can force me to donate my kidney, not even you!"
"Agreed."
"Aaron!"
"Aaron!"
Aaron remained unmoved. "Now, can you release her?"
Serena loosened her grip just enough for Cynthia to catch her breath. Then she turned to Aaron, "Not so fast. I need a written guarantee, and I want it notarized by a lawyer!"
Aaron pulled out his phone and, in full view of Serena, dialed Julia's number.
What do you think?
