Chapter 716
Those things I asked Tristan Schultz for last time? Yeah, turns out those were some of the very last treasures the Schultz family had left.
Otherwise, back then, why do you think Xander's stepmom, Mona Haig, and Yale Schultz were both freaking out like someone set their hair on fire?
The Schultz family's stash was already running on fumes.
Now Yvonne managed to walk away with a pretty hefty chunk of what was left.
But honestly, I can't really blame Xander for being so ruthless about it.
After all, it's possible Mona is the real reason his mom ended up dead.
"So, with all that in mind, you should probably be a little nicer to Xander," Julia chimed in.
Yvonne was stunned. "!!!"
Seriously?
Dan's gonna go ballistic on her when he gets home.
After faking his own death back in the day, Yvonne's convinced he was just playing games with her the whole time.
And if that's the case, then all the feelings she poured out for him just seem pointless.
Meanwhile, over at the Quinns' place-
Stella was sprawled on the chaise lounge, chatting on the phone with Susanna.
Back when they both lived in Brighton, Susanna was always a sucker for gossip, and after what happened last night...
Stella had been worried the drama would really mess with her.
But now...
"You're saying... ugly?"
Susanna replied, “Oh yeah, seriously ugly."
Stella nearly dropped her phone. "!!!"
They were talking about those twins-Leanne and Ivanna-who tried to break into the Hulls' place last night.
Stella had never met them, but she'd heard the rumors: "the ugliest princesses in the kingdom." Apparently, it wasn't even an exaggeration.
"This is what you're focusing on right now...?"
Stella was honestly at a loss for words. But, compared to how Susanna was before, this was just like the old days in Brighton-always hungry for drama, always chasing the next juicy story.
But last night, though...noveldrama
"They were coming after you, you know."
Susanna just said, "Oh."
Stella blinked. "Oh'? What's that supposed to mean?"
Before she could ask, Susanna just burst out laughing, that cackling, contagious laugh of hers.
Stella couldn't help but crack a smile. "Seriously, what is wrong with you?"
"I can't help it, Star!" Susanna gasped between giggles. "I've never seen anyone that ugly. I lost my appetite for three days just thinking about it."
Stella: "..."
"I mean, Hult showed me pictures of the homewrecker and her guy. Sure, they're both jerks, but at least they look halfway decent. But those twins? Yikes. That's some tragic DNA right there."
Susanna let out a dramatic "tsk-tsk," as if words couldn't do the horror justice.
Stella had to ask, "Wait, you actually saw pictures of the mistress and the guy?" And more importantly—what kind of reaction was that?
Stella was relieved Susanna seemed to be bouncing back, but... was this really the same girl who just yesterday was crying her eyes out over Mrs. Lacey?
"Your mood swings are insane," Stella said. "How do you go from sobbing to this in like, a day?"
Most people would take a while to process something that heavy. Susanna was a complete emotional rollercoaster.
Susanna just sighed, "Honestly, I
was just scared my mom was inet
danger. I mean, she's a powerhouse, but at the end of the day, she's still mom, you know?"
She'd been picturing her mom trapped with the likes of Black Gate, and that had
been eating her alive.
"But now that I know she's got it handled, I can finally breathe again."
People who can take care of themselves don't need to be pitied.
Susanna added, "But those twins? Seriously, I'm starting to think maybe they were adopted."
Stella just gaped. “!!!”
What do you think?
