Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 1059

The holographic screen blinked out, leaving only silence in its wake.

Grant kept his eyes glued to the pool, intent on every move. He wanted to see which one of them would cave first when it really mattered. He had patience-and plenty of tricks in store.

Chloe never looked away from the rising water line, quietly counting the seconds in her head. When the level crept toward exactly two-point-three meters, she caught Connor's eye. That one glance was all it took.

Without hesitation, they both dove in, slicing through the water and heading straight for the bottom.noveldrama

Grant watched, clueless about their plan.

They reached the floor fast. The numbers that had once been etched into the stone were long gone-Chloe had scraped them off herself, just in case. If her mentor really had left a clue here, there was no way she'd let Grant get wind of it. Even underwater, Chloe kept glancing up at the water line. This was a risk- everything was on the line. But deep down, she had a feeling they'd make it. She and her mentor always understood each other, even without words.

As soon as the water reached exactly two-point-three meters, Chloe gave Connor a quick signal.

Together, they shoved hard against the stone slab. It slid away with surprising ease, as if some hidden mechanism had just been triggered.

Suddenly, a surge of water exploded upward, whipping the pool into a wild vortex. Everything went cloudy and chaotic.

Grant's instincts screamed that something was off, but he couldn't tell what.

By the time the water calmed again, Chloe and Connor were gone.

Just-gone. Like they'd vanished into thin air.

Grant shot out of his wheelchair, fists clenched and shaking with fury.

Again. It was happening all over again.

A year ago, Nemo had disappeared just like this. Grant had only recently figured out how it happened.

Back then, it was a lazy afternoon when the butter rushed in,

panicked Nemo was missing. By the time Grant got to the water cell, it was empty. The only thing left was a few taunting words scratched into the metal: "Was here."

He'd never understood how Nemo escaped. The entire estate was covered in surveillance—none of it had been touched. But Nemo was gone, as if he'd vanished into thin air.

That mystery had eaten away at Grant since that day.

Now it finally clicked. There had to be a secret tunnel beneath the pool—one even

he didn't know about. Nemo had found it, and now Chloe had too.

The irony stung.

Grant barked orders at the staff and rushed back to the main house. He demanded the pool be drained, every last drop.

But when the water was gone, there was nothing-no evidence, no secret passage, not even a single

of place. He searched ev Stom

out

piece by piece, but came up empty.

He had no idea what he was missing.

Meanwhile, Chloe and Connor had already made their escape. The tunnel seemed endless. By the time they finally crawled out of a forgotten, overgrown well, they both felt like they'd run a marathon.

The two of them collapsed onto the grass, gasping for air, every muscle aching.

Connor managed to sit up first, urgency in his voice. "We need to get out of here -now."
