Chapter 1083
All of this made absolutely no sense.noveldrama
Everyone's eyes drifted to Grant, almost as if drawn there by instinct.
Was he abandoned too?
But that didn't add up.
Right when confusion was at its thickest, Killian's voice echoed from somewhere above.
"Don't bother struggling. Whether it's Kash's special forces or some miracle rescue, no one's getting you out. This entire chapel is buried over a hundred meters underground. The mountain's caved in-there's no way any rescue team can reach you. Maybe they'll send a helicopter, but what good would a few people do against all that rock? They don't even know where you are. I promise you that."
Nemo didn't look scared at all. If anything, there was a trace of sarcasm in his eyes. "Wow, you really just left, huh? Didn't even bother with your own son?"
Grant's face darkened, his jaw clenched in anger and shame.
Killian's voice rang out again, calm and cold. "Don't worry. I left him here for a reason."
Outside, Kent watched as more mud and sand poured in, the darkness pressing closer. His heartbeat pounded in his ears.
"Killian, if you want revenge, go after the Sartori family and Nemo. Why drag us into this? What did the Nagel and Gilbert families ever do to you? Why should we die too?"
Killian's voice didn't waver. "Let me tell you a story."
"A hundred years ago, the four big families of the Eldridge Elites-the Nagels, the Gilberts, the Shaws, and my family, the Grevenbergs-were the most powerful clans around. For decades, we split up the country, hoarding insane amounts of wealth and treasure. But as those days faded, the four families ran overseas. We couldn't take all that gold with us, so we built a vault together and made four tokens-the keys to the secret passage.”
"Years passed, the country stabilized, and the families' descendants came home. With all their old money, they quickly took over every major business in the Eldridge Elites. But people always want more. The four families started plotting to get the treasure back."
"By pure chance, my grandfather Reid got his hands on the treasure map. But he was a good man. He 'el knew that much wealth would only bring disaster, so he refused to let it be found. The other three families turned on him. They hired assassins, murdered my relatives, wiped out my entire family."
Hank's voice drifted through the darkness-chill and empty, like something from a nightmare.
Kent was already shaking. "So... you're not just after the Sartori family, but..."
He trailed off, too scared to finish, afraid he'd push Killian over the edge.
Killian finished for him. "Jeffery was just the weapon. The real killers? The Nagels, the Gilberts, and the Shaws."
His words hit like a punch to the gut.
Chloe felt as if a stone had dropped into her chest. Now it all made sense-why all four family heads were here at this so-called memorial.
Killian's grudge went way deeper than just the Sartoris and their old master.
As if reading her mind, Killian's voice filled the room again.
"I'm going to wipe out all four families-destroy you from the roots up. I want the ancestors of the Gilberts to watch as your bloodlines rot away, collapsing bit by bit. That's so much sweeter than just killing you outright."
What do you think?
