Chapter 1085
"You know I'm the head of the family, Isaac. You've always been a master at using feelings-twisting emotions like a knife. But Taylor's not like the others; she's innocent. She won't be so easily controlled by a grudge from fifty years ago. If my guess is right, you're just trying to recreate what happened with you and Claire. In the end, you want to push me over the edge, drive me insane."
That was Chloe's take, after seeing the way Killian and Taylor acted.
Taylor was a pawn too, but she wasn't anything like Grant.
The difference? Taylor had no idea she was being used.
And if she ever figured it out, someone as sharp as Isaac would see right through
it.
From above, Killian's laughter floated down-clear and almost joyful.
The first time Chloe met him, he seemed cold and distant, almost monk-like, completely untouchable.
But now, his laugh was warm, like he'd finally found someone who understood him.
"You really are something, girl. I like you more every minute. You've even guessed my secret move. If we weren't enemies, I'd almost want you as my goddaughter."
Isaac's anger flared. "You old bastard! You're playing with me and Taylor-your own daughter! Do you even care about anyone but yourself?"
He didn't even want to think about it.
The idea that one day, he and Taylor could be torn apart, forced to endure some cruel fate until he completely lost his mind-it was too much.
He never realized life had such a trap waiting for him.
Killian spoke, voice colder than ever. "But I've changed my mind. Grant and Taylor alone could never bring you down. This time, I'll handle it myself. I've waited long enough. Tonight, your lives will honor the thirty souls lost from the Grevenberg family."
Sand and dust kept pouring in through the windows.
And then they realized-
Buried so deep underground, the air was getting thinner. Every breath took more effort.
Kent was trembling. "Are we really going to die here today?"
But Nemo spoke up, calm as ever. "Killian, this isn't your only goal tonight, is it?"
While the others argued, Nemo had been watching, taking in every detail.
He realized this collapse wasn't just from the explosion—it was a trap, a mechanism set up ages ago.
Even the explosion was part of the plan, set by someone long before any of them arrived.
Why go through all this trouble?
There was only one reason.
This was the first step to unlocking the treasure vault.
Nemo kept going. "Aren't you here for the treasure, too?"
Killian's cold laugh echoed around them. "You always see through me, don't you?"
Nemo pressed on, "Let's be honest You didn't gather us all here
revenge. You want to open Just for vault." note
Killian didn't deny it. "That's right."noveldrama
"I'm guessing you've got the old Grevenberg treasure map. You've spent half your life studying these traps and secret passages. But you're still missing one thing-the key to the vault, the heirlooms from
all four families."
Killian nodded. "Of course. And I know the Shaw girl has them."
He turned to Grant. "Grant, bring me the three keys she's carrying."
Bet
But Nemojust smiled. “Two keys, actually. The Gilbert family's dragon a
is a fake. The real one
isn't with you-is it?"
Even Connor looked surprised at that.
What do you think?
