Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 584

Chapter 584

Lisa was a bit baffled. She didn't have the slightest clue who this guy was.

"Hey there, Ms. Chloe. I'm your lawyer, Anthony. If you ever find yourself in a jam, I'm your guy," he said smoothly, handing over his business card. Lisa's eyes widened as she read the card. Anthony wasn't just any lawyer; he was one of the top dogs at the prestigious Eldridge Elites law firm. "Wait a minute," Lisa stammered, trying to make sense of it all. "Why are you helping me? Did someone put you up to this? Was it my mom?" Anthony, looking sharp in his business suit, gave off an air of confidence and a hint of superiority. His look was that of someone peering down through a magnifying glass. "Your mom couldn't foot my bill. No, it's Ms. Claire who's got your back. She's the one giving you this lifeline."

Lisa was floored. "Claire? You mean Chloe's Claire?"

She remembered Claire from that reality show with Chloe and Connor. Claire had swooped in during the later episodes, causing quite a buzz. As the Sartori Corporation's heiress, Claire's feud with Connor was practically tabloid fodder. But Lisa had never crossed paths with her. "Mr. Anthony, can I meet Ms. Claire? I'd really like to thank her face-to-face."

Anthony chuckled. "Given where you stand right now, that's a no-go. Just keep in mind, it's Ms. Claire who's giving you this fresh start."

Lisa nodded eagerly. "I get it. I'm beyond grateful. If I ever get the chance, I'll definitely repay Ms. Claire."

Anthony gave a satisfied nod, then started to leave. But after a few steps, he turned back. "Oh, and Ms. Claire wants Ms. Chloe to follow her heart, no need to worry about the fallout. We've got your back."

With that, Anthony slid into a sleek black Bentley and drove off.

Lisa stood there, her mind racing. The more she mulled it over, the more her excitement bubbled up. She'd once pinned her hopes on Connor and the Shaw family, craving their approval. But they never gave her the time of day. Now, out of nowhere, she'd caught Claire's eye.

Claire, who even Connor didn't dare mess with, was in the middle of a power struggle for their family's empire. She might just end up being the richest woman around someday. Lisa couldn't believe she'd managed to get Claire's attention. If she could become Claire's right-hand woman, her future was looking brighter than ever.

Her excitement built as she imagined a future where even Chloe and Connor might be looking to her for a favor.

With a newfound determination, Lisa hailed a cab and headed back to the Meadows family home. Her heart was a mix of anger and anticipation. She'd been stuck in detention for

once did Jacob or Leah check in on her. They didn't lift a finger to help. It felt like they'd just tossed her aside.

Arriving home, she saw the family car pull in. Today was Jacob's big day-finally getting out of the hospital. He'd been there for nearly three weeks and was just starting to get back on his feet after heart surgery. The doctors had warned him to keep stress at bay, or else he might face another serious scare.

As Jacob and Leah stepped out of the car, Lisa stormed over, her voice tinged with hurt and frustration. "What kind of parents are you? You bring me into this world and then just leave me hanging? You seriously think you can just abandon me? You don't deserve the title of parents."
