CHAPTER 34
Dale’s POV
=-events before Amber was pregnant=-
Since then, I couldn’t stop thinking about her – the girl I had rescued in the forest. Ever since that day, she had been on my mind constantly. I wanted to see her again, to make sure that she was okay, but her family left their home and transferred to another.
I went back to the forest where I had first seen her, hoping to find her there. But she was nowhere to be found. I asked around, trying to see if anyone knew who she was, but no one could help me.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. I searched high and low, but I couldn’t find her. I didn’t even know her full name, so it was almost impossible to track her down.
As time went on, I started to wonder if I had imagined the whole thing. Maybe I had seen someone else and my mind had played tricks on me. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t true. I had seen her, and I had rescued her.
It had been five years since I last saw her. The girl I had rescued in the woods was still on my mind, even though I had long since given up hope of ever seeing her again.
But fate had other plans. I was at a party when I saw her across the room. My heart skipped a beat – it was her. She had changed, of course. She looked more confident, more sure of herself. And then I saw him – the alpha of our pack- standing beside her, his arm wrapped possessively around her waist.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
I tried to ignore them, to pretend that I hadn’t seen her. But my eyes kept drifting back to her. I could tell that she saw me too, but she made no move to come over and talk to me.
As the night went on, I watched her from afar, trying to make sense of what I was feeling. I still cared about her deeply, but I knew that she was someone else now. She had become the alpha woman, and I had no place in her life.
Finally, as the party started to wind down, I saw her slip away from the alpha’s side and make her way over to someone else. They exchanged pleasantries, but it was clear that things had changed between her. She was guarded, and cautious, and I could tell that she was trying to maintain an image.
As she walked away, I felt a sense of sadness wash over me. I had waited so long to see her again, only to realize that we were no longer the same people we had been when we first met. She had grown in ways that I couldn’t understand, and I had to accept that we were on different paths now.
As I left the party that night, I couldn’t help but think about what might have been. But I also knew that sometimes, the best thing you can do is let go of the past and move forward. I knew that I would always care about her, but I also knew that it was time to start a new chapter in my life.
I realized that she didn’t recognize me. It had been so long, and I had changed so much, that I was just another face in the crowd. I made my way over to her, trying to steady my nerves.
“Excuse me,” I said, tapping her on the shoulder. “Do you remember me? We met a long time ago.”
She looked at me, her expression blank. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I don’t think I do.”
I tried to jog her memory, telling her about the day we had met, the woods where we had first talked. But it was clear that she didn’t remember me at all.
“Are you sure?” he asked.
“Yes, I have never been to the woods, sir. I am not allowed to be in the woods,” she continued.
I felt a sense of disappointment wash over me. I had held on to the hope that she would remember me, that we would pick up where we had left off. But it was clear that that wasn’t going to happen.
“It’s okay,” I said, trying to sound as casual as possible. “It was a long time ago. I’m just glad to see you again.”
She smiled politely, but I could tell that there was a distance between us now. We made small talk for a few more minutes, but I could feel the conversation starting to fizzle out.
I was feeling down, and I did not know what to do. The girl I had been imagining all these years was totally gone, and I was feeling lost and alone. So, I decided to go to the bar, hoping to drown my sorrows in alcohol. I knew it was not the healthiest way to deal with my emotions, but I did not know what else to do.
As I sat at the bar, I ordered drink after drink. I did not care about the consequences. I just wanted to forget about her, but then something unexpected happened.
I was sitting at the bar, nursing my drink, when she walked in. She was beautiful, with long blonde hair, and sparking blue eyes. I couldn’t take my eyes off her. As she walked past me, I couldn’t help but ask her a question.
“Hey, what brings you here?” I asked, trying to sound casual.
She smiled, revealing perfect white teeth. “I needed a break,” she said, sitting down next to me.
We struck up a conversation, and I could tell that there was a connection between us. We talked about our jobs, our hobbies, and our dreams. I felt like I could talk to her for hours. I was laughing and joking, enjoying the company of a stranger next to me. I realized that I didn’t need to drown my sorrows in alcohol.
As the night wore on, we started to open up to each other. She told me about her past, and I shared some of my own struggles. I felt like I had known her for years, even though we had just met.
At some point, we both realized that we had been talking for hours. I looked at her, and she looked back at me, her eyes shining with warmth.
“I had a really great time tonight,” I said, feeling a sense of vulnerability.
“Me too,” she replied, her hand reaching out to touch mine.
At that moment, I felt like anything was possible. I didn’t know where this was going, but I knew that I wanted to find out.
We exchanged numbers, and I walked her to her car. As she drove away, I felt a sense of hope wash over me. Maybe this was the beginning of something great.
As she pulled up to the curb in her car, I felt a pang of sadness. I did not want the night to end, but I knew that we both had to go our separate ways.
But then, to my surprise, she came back. She got out of the car and walked over to me. Without saying a word, she leaned in and kissed me.
My heart raced as I felt her soft lips on mine. I could taste the sweetness of her lip balm, and I could feel the warmth of her body pressed against mine.
As we pulled away from the kiss, I could see the intensity in her eyes.
“I don’t want to say goodbye yet,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
I felt a surge of excitement. This was a moment I had been dreaming of, but I didn’t want to push her.
“We don’t have to,” I said, my own voice barely louder than hers.
We walked around the block, talking and laughing as if we had known each other for years. It was a perfect moment, and I knew that I never wanted it to end.
We walked around the city, and the tension between us grew stronger. I felt like I was walking on clouds, and I knew that I wanted to take things to the next level.
As we stood on a quiet street corner, I looked into her eyes and knew that it was the perfect moment. Without hesitating, I leaned in and kissed her.
Her lips were soft and warm, and I felt a spark of electricity between us. We wrapped our arms around each other, lost in the moment.
As we pulled away, we both smiled, knowing that there was something special between us.
“I’ve been wanting to do that all night,” I said my heart racing.
“Me too,” she replied, her eyes shining with affection.
We continued walking, holding hands, and talking about our hopes and dreams. I knew that I wanted to spend more time with her, to explore this connection we had, but then I remembered the girl in the woods from several years ago.
“I think it is getting late now,” I said to the woman who obviously did not want to leave my side. She was obviously smitten with me.
“Yeah. My place is just two blocks from here,” she stated.
I narrowed my eyes while considering her subtle invitation to go to her place, and since I had nothing else to do, I smiled and agreed.
“We should grab some food on our way to your place,” I suggested and she giggled happily.
The woman whose name was Jessica was great in bed. I had a good time with her, but her skills were not enough to make me forget about Amber. While fucking Jessica, all I could think of was Amber. I wanted Amber to writhe under my body.
After the deed, I told her I needed to go home and she was good with it. As we said our goodbyes for the night, I knew that she wanted to see me again soon.
However, I became busy with the clinic especially when the omega pregnancy program was in full swing. Then, one day, I saw Amber in the clinic. I was stunned to see her again, but it seemed like she did not remember me at all.
When I approached her, I could see the confusion in her eyes. She was lost, she was worried and so confused. I glanced at the nurse who checked on her vitals, but the nurse just shrugged off her shoulders.
“Excuse me, do I know you?” she asked, looking at me quizzically.
My heart sank. How could she not remember me? Had I done something wrong?
“I manage this clinic, Madame,” I told her, and she just raised an eyebrow before totally ignoring me.
“I see. Will you be the one to check if I am pregnant?” she asked.
When she fired that question, I realized that she was enlisted in the omega pregnancy program. She was one of Alpha Marcus’ women. When the realization hit me, I became sad that the woman I had been dreaming to be with again, has become someone else’s woman.
“Yes,” I replied.
“Doc, do you think I am pregnant?” she asked again.
“We need to do some tests, Madame,” I replied.
“Okay,” she said before she turned her back from me.
As I watched her turn her back, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of loss. Had our connection really been so insignificant to her? Or was there something else going on?
I decided to give her some space, hoping that maybe she would remember me on her own. But as the days turned into weeks, I started to lose hope.
Eventually, I realized that maybe it wasn’t meant to be. Maybe our connection had been just a passing moment, a brief spark of something that could have been.
Honestly speaking, I felt bad for every omega who was forced to become part of the pregnancy program. Nobody could become pregnant, and each one of them was doomed to suffer in the dungeon or die.
“Doc, can I talk to you?”
I turned to see one of the doctors in the clinic. Doctor Brown was the one in charge for the Alpha’s health. Because of him, I learned that something was wrong with Alpha Marcus. The Alpha’s health condition was unheard of in someone of his status and power.
“Hey, how’s it’s going with the latest patient? Is there a sign that she’s pregnant?” he asked me.
“Not really,” I replied.
“Oh, that’s too bad! I knew it was a strange case that the Alpha has been having trouble with infertility but was I hoping he could get someone pregnant,” Dr. Brown stated.
“Have you been able to identify the cause?” I asked but he just shook his head.
“Not yet. We have done a lot of tests, but everything seems to be normal. I am not sure what’s causing it,” he responded.
“Could be psychological, then,” I told him.
Dr. Brown nodded thoughtfully.
“Well, there could be a number of factors at play. It could be hormonal, or there could be some sort of genetic issue,” he explained.
“I thought about that,” I said.
Dr. Brown leaned forward, looking at me seriously. “Well, we need to keep looking. This is a big deal – if the Alpha can’t produce an heir, it could cause a lot of problems.”
“I know,” I said, feeling the weight of the responsibility. “I’ll keep digging, see if there’s anything we’ve missed.”
As Dr. Brown left, I turned back to the room where Amber was staying, and then, I felt bad for her. For sure, she would be sent to prison anytime soon. Every omega who failed in conceiving a child for the Alpha after sleeping with him for two months would be punished.
