Chapter 1592
"What? Sixteen million seven hundred thousand?"
Fiona couldn't possibly be serious.
What kind of dress costs over sixteen million dollars? They had never heard of such an astronomical amount of money; surely, Fiona was just trying to pull a fast one on them.
"Fiona, who are you trying to fool? An evening gown for over sixteen million? Why not just rob a bank instead?"
"Exactly, you could buy a house in New York City with that kind of cash. Sure, the gown looks amazing, but it can't be that pricey."
Yvenne held onto the dress tightly, frozen in place. She had been the most excited earlier, bouncing around, but now, realizing her mistake, she didn't know what to do.
Fiona couldn't be bothered to argue, so she shot them a cold glance and said, "If you don't believe me, check online and see if I'm lying."
With that, she put her things away and sprawled on her bed, starting a game on her phone.
As expected, the other girls began checking the price online. To their shock, the gown's price matched exactly what Fiona had said.noveldrama
At this point, they all distanced themselves from Yvenne, each harboring a bit of caution towards her.
Yvenne, naturally, picked up on this. She prided herself on being sharp, so how could she not see what was happening?
"Don't even think about pinning this on me. We all tried it on together, so if there's money to be paid, we all chip in," Yvenne said defiantly. There was no way she could handle the entire sixteen million on her own.
If the Reynolds family got wind of this, she'd be in deep trouble.
Tyler! She still had Tyler. With Tyler's connection to Fiona, maybe he could help her dodge such a huge bill, maybe even get her off the hook entirely.
Thinking of this, a sly smile crossed her face.
"Sixteen million seven hundred thousand split among the three of us is five million five hundred seventy thousand each." With that, she placed the dress on the table, and the others exchanged uneasy glances.
"It wasn't even me who ripped it! It was because you insisted on squeezing into it,
and that's why it tore. You should pay; it's not my problem."
"I didn't ruin it either. We just touched it. Unlike you, who thought you were some kind of princess and insisted we zip it up for you. We can't afford this."
"Exactly! Since the gown was a gift from Mr. Reynolds to Fiona, it was tailored to her size. You insisted on trying it on, and now that it's torn, you have to pay for it!"
Everyone chimed in, steadfastly refusing to mention paying a dime.
Fiona finished her game, put away her phone, and looked at the group still bickering. She spoke up, "Who's paying for this?"
The dorm room, which had been filled with arguments, fell silent thanks to Fiona's words.
"It was Yvenne who damaged it; if you want compensation, ask Yvenne."
"Yeah, we just touched it. If we have to pay for that, it's too unfair. But we could give you a few hundred dollars, just as a fee for handling the dress."
Yvenne was so upset she nearly fainted. Sixteen million-she couldn't even cover that if she sold herself.
Her tears flowed as her panic grew louder.
"Pay up, or I'm calling the cops," Fiona said firmly. She wasn't going to waste
words or prolong her involvement with Yvenne.
That evening's dinner had already been a tense affair.
"I..." Yvenne pressed her lips together, unable to say anything more.
What do you think?
