“You smell fantastic,” Cahir burrowed his nose into my side. “I love this smell.”
“You’re saying that because I smell like you.” And I did. He’d thoroughly covered me with his scent and he’d enjoyed every minute of it – I had too, there was no denying it but at this point, I was too tired to speak.
My eyes drooped as he kissed my skin, his body heat telling me he wanted to go for a third round. My stamina could never match up with Cahir’s but now, I was heavily pregnant so I didn’t even try.
In my second trimester, I’d become a horny wreck but these days, I found myself wanting to do nothing but sleep and sleep and then sleep some more.
“I’m so tired,” I mumbled in a sleepy voice. “And my back aches.”
“Do you want a massage?” His innocent words were tinged with heat that added an extra layer of meaning to his offer.
“No, thank you.” I pushed up in bed. “Uggh, being pregnant is the worst,” I grumbled but then the baby kicked and I winced.
“She heard that,” Cahir said with a chuckle, rearranging the pillows behind me.
“I can’t wait to meet him,” I muttered.
The baby was due in six days and Cahir and I decided we wanted the baby’s sex to be a surprise. He was dead certain we were having a girl while I – I didn’t actually know but arguing about the baby’s sex with my mate was always funny. He got so flustered trying to convince me we were having a daughter that I secretly laughed at him.
“Our baby is a girl,” he said in a firm tone. “I can’t wait to meet her.” As he spoke, he massaged my swollen feet and I sighed in contentment. This was so much better than sex but if I uttered those words, my mate would become desperate to prove me wrong.
For someone who had been uninterested in having kids, Cahir seemed the most excited of the two of us about the baby’s birth. He’d picked out the baby’s things, decorated the room, picked out names, and even hosted a baby shower for me and every night, he made sure to sing a lullaby for our unborn child.
I sometimes wondered if he became more comfortable with fatherhood when the threats around him lessened or if there was another reason. The brutal battle for Alpha Blood which took place months ago exposed some more heinous plots against my mate and ever since then, he worked hard to get rid of the plots. These days, he even went to public functions to show his face so people would have a more favourable impression of him. When I asked him why he bothered so much to clean up his reputation, thinking the harsh words were getting to him, he replied with a shrug.
“I don’t care what the media has to say about me. These days they call me the ruthless rogue Alpha of Alpha Blood. They can say whatever they like about me but what if these names affect our kids?”
He didn’t want our child to have a father with such an unfavourable, tyrannical reputation so he changed his outward appearance – I say outward because Cahir was no different now from who he was months back. The only thing that changed was that he wasn’t as open with his brutality as he used to be. It was a
good thing because now when he hit back at people for their sins they were taken aback thinking he was

a changed man who must have forgiven them and not expecting retribution. In a sense, he’d gotten way more manipulative.
“I’m so tired,” I moaned again, stretching my arms above my head.
“Did I hit too hard?” He asked with a nervous tone.
“You did.” It was a blatant lie but the way his eyes widened with guilt was funny to watch. “I’m kidding,” I laughed.
He’d been even more gentle today than the previous days. He was worried I was too heavy for such intimacies but we’d been advised to frolic a bit more now that the baby was on the way.
“Should I run you a bath?” He asked, ignoring my laughter while still thinking he’d hurt me.
“You want to wash off this sweet scent?” I wiggled my brows and to my surprise – No, it couldn’t be – did my mate just blush!? “Are you blushing right now?” I exclaimed, peering into his face. He placed a hand over my eyes causing me to burst into laughter.
“I’m not blushing,” he muttered. I couldn’t see his face because of the hand he had over my eyes but I heard the embarrassment in his tone. It made me laugh harder.
“Who knew you had a cute side?” My heart soared, pounding faster as I fell even deeper in love with this man. “I’m glad we have an eternity to spend with each other. I want to get familiar with every side there is to you.” My sincerity rang true in my voice.
“You’re not as glad as I am, belle,” he whispered.
The next day, my water broke.
“Cahir, the baby is here!” I exclaimed when a foreign sensation washed over me. Asena was pacing as I called my mate who was in the bathroom. He dashed out with only a towel around his waist.
“What!?” He shouted so loudly my ears hurt. “Where is she!?” If I wasn’t as panicked as he was, I would have laughed at the absurdity of his question.
I’d had a difficult pregnancy so the goddess was kind enough to give me an easy birth. One hour after I went into labour, my baby girl came into the world with a beautiful cry.
“Congratulations, Alpha, Luna, you have a daughter,” the nurse said.
Darn it, Cahir won! But I didn’t mind. In fact, I couldn’t remember ever being happier than I was when my baby came into the world.

“She’s so wrinkled,” Cahir muttered in awe, peering into the baby’s bed. “She looks just like you,” he added.
“Are you saying I’m wrinkled?” I asked with a yawn.
“No,” he answered automatically. “You’re not wrinkled but she does look like you. You’ll see when the
wrinkles clear.”
Amaris was just five days old but it was clear for everyone to see that she had her father wrapped around her tiny fingers. Her cry was tiny and inaudible but every time she opened her little mouth to cry, her

father came running. I’d woken up two nights ago to see him staring into her crib as she slept in the middle of the night, a silly grin on his face as he stroked her cheek.
He’d abandoned all his work for Stefan, a man who was his temporary beta, to handle, choosing to stay glued to the baby. It was interesting and heartwarming to witness. In all this, I was the happiest because I could not forget how much I fretted the day I found out I was pregnant, how I snuck out to get tests and how much terror gripped me thinking of Cahir rejecting the baby,

“Luna,” I was dozing off when I heard a voice filled with dread. “Luna, I can’t find the little miss.” I blinked my eyes open to see the new nanny trembling before me.
“Have you checked with her father?” I asked dryly, stretching.
‘Little miss‘ was a title my little girl insisted upon as she could not be called Alpha or Luna, like her parents, she came up with a title for herself.
“N- No.” The nanny was shivering badly. “I’m sorry!” She fell to her knees, shocking me. “She was asleep so I went to fold her laundry but when I returned, she was gone!” She cried.
“It’s okay, Ollie.” I grabbed the lady and helped her up. “There’s no need to fret. She’s most likely with her father,” I said.
I understood the nanny’s fright. It was her first week working with my baby and the first time she witnessed her disappearance. The first time my child went missing, I pulled out half my hair, crying and wailing, thinking she’d been kidnapped, until her father walked in cradling her in his arms. She’d been only seven months then. Somehow she learnt to get out of her crib and crawled away. Amaris had a knack for running away and after four years, I was used to it. It didn’t worry me anymore because every time I looked for her, I found her at her father’s side.
“Come on, let’s go to the office. I’m sure she’s with him.” I took the nanny’s hand and led her to the office.
“The Alpha is in a meeting right now,” Cahir’s secretary said with an apologetic look. The nanny gave me a pointed look, her expression worsening.
Her eyes seemed to ask me, ‘How can she be with her father when he is in a meeting?‘ She’d spent only a week with Amaris but I remembered clearly telling her before she was hired that my little girl could teleport.
Amaris Armani was born gifted, the first of her kind. Before she was born, I assumed her gift would be related to fire considering how many times I caught on fire while pregnant with her but in the first two years of her life, she manifested many different gifts just as I did when I was pregnant with her.
The high priestess told us it would take a while for her to manifest her true gift as she was still too little. With time, her other powers faded and she started to disappear more and more. If I was human, the high blood pressure of my toddler winding up missing every day would have killed me by now.
“Alright, Jemima,” I said to the secretary. “We’ll wait for the meeting to end.”
“No!” The teary eyes maid exclaimed in fright. “It’s about the little miss,” she choked. “She’s missing. We have to report it to the Alpha,” she tried to coax the secretary.
“Oh, I haven’t seen the little miss but she should be with her father.” The secretary had worked with Cahir for two years now so she was familiar with Amaris‘ stunts. “The meeting will be over soon so you can pick

her up once they finish.” Ah, my poor Ollie may collapse if she didn’t see Amaris and her father with her
own eyes.
“Come on, Ollie,” I beckoned her over. “Sorry, Jem, we have to interrupt.” Jemima didn’t look pleased bur she understood Ollie was about to faint from terror. I knocked on the office door and poked my head into the office.
“Mummy!” A little girl shouted once my head entered the office. “Come in, we just finished the meeting“” She was only four but she spoke with as much command as her father. It was understandable since she spent so much time with him.
Ollie and I entered the office and the girl started to apologize immediately. “I – I’m sorry, Alpha. I should have monitored her closely so so she wouldn’t interrupt you – Ollie was inching closer to Amaris to take her away but the child clung to her father.
“It’s okay.” Cahir grinned. “We already finished the meeting but Amaris had a few words to add.” His eyes
twinkled.
“Yes, I wanted to play Alpha today!” My baby added then her cute face scrunched as she tried to imitate her father’s stern look. She was a mini version of me in appearance but her behaviour was just like her father’s.
The elders who’d been in the meeting laughed and praised her imitation of a stern glare, making the child preen. I’d admit Amaris was a bit spoiled. Everyone doted on her as a child born with the goddess‘ kiss.
Cahir dismissed the meeting and I sent a relieved Ollie back home with Amaris clinging to her father.

“You worried Ollie,” I scolded when it was just us three left. “Haven’t we agreed you’d tell someone your whereabouts before you go anywhere?” I may be used to her disappearing acts but I was still anxious. She was a child she didn’t understand the dangers of the world or the dangers she was in
considering who she was. Her name was in the mouth of every pack and although her father’s reputation was enough to deter any plans of kidnapping, I was still worried.
“I’m sorry, momma.” She hung her head. “I woke up alone and missed my daddy so I came to see him.” She looked up at me with big round eyes that were the same as mine, making me sigh. I could never be angry at her so I hugged her close.
“Don’t do it again, okay?” I asked, touching the pendant on her neck. As our child liked to disappear, we placed a tracker in necklace on her. I hoped there was never a day when I had to track her with this necklace.
“Okay.” She nodded vigorously. “Can we go out for ice cream?” Her remorse morphed into excitement as she held her father and I. It was impossible to say no when she looked at us with those excited eyes.
We were about to leave when Cahir pulled me back. “Can you call Jemima here, baby?” He asked our daughter in a sweet voice.
“Okay!” The little girl agreed and then vanished on the spot.
“I’ve missed you.” My mate pulled me into his embrace, scorching heat in his eyes.
“I’ve missed you more,” I whispered, rising on my tiptoes to kiss him. A screech had me jumping back.
“Noooo!” A little girl shouted, holding the hand of a flustered Jemima.

“Don’t kiss my daddy!” She rushed forward and flew into my mate’s arms. “He’s my daddy, not yours!” She shouted. I blinked in surprise as the monopolized my mate. “My daddy! Mine!”
“You need to give her a sibling to play with,” Jemima said with a cackle as Cahir and I grew more and more flustered at Amaris‘ cries.
“That’s what I’m trying to work on,” Cahir said dryly. “Baby-” He tried to coax Amaris but she burst into tears. He gave me a resigned look and Jemima continued to laugh.
In the end, there was no ice cream. Amaris fell asleep clutching my mate, her tears staining his shirt.
To make up for the earlier interruption, Cahir worked harder that night and his hard work paid off. Nine months later, we welcomed a baby boy who Amaris immediately laid claim to. She could always be heard shouting, “Don’t touch my brother?” To even his nanny.
“I can feel your healing mana,” my mate whispered after spilling inside me. “Every time we hold hands, it’s like it’s seeping into me.”
“Didn’t I say I would heal you?” I muttered jokingly.
“didn’t think bloodlust could be cured,” he said seriously. “But the longer you hold my hands, the quieter the demons get. Recently, I haven’t heard a voice in my head.” My eyes widened.
“No bloodlust?” He shook his head. “No need to kill everyone that looks at you the wrong way?”
“There is,” he responded and I deflated. “But that’s purely my instinct, no bloodlust.” His eyes flashed red as if to prove his point. “What do you think?” He asked, kissing my knuckles.
“I did it!” I exclaimed. “I healed the ruthless Alpha!” He chuckled with twinkling eyes.
“You did,” his eyes darkened. “How do you want him to thank you?” He leaned into me, desire sizzling in his eyes.
“Ah – a simple thank you will be fine.” My legs quivered.
“Thank you, belle,” he kissed my nose, his eyes still shining like that of a predator. “Now, let me thank you the way I know best.” He peppered kisses down my chest, to my navel and then lower, until pleasure exploded around me and all I could do was chant his name.
“I love you.” He kissed me and I could taste myself on his lips.
“I love you more,” I responded, pulling his head down for a deeper kiss,
