Her Precious Baby

Chapter 113

Chapter 113

Olivine’s entire being trembled at the sight of him. It was as if a bucket of cold water was poured over her head, drenching her from head to toe.

“Are the results out?” she asked, her voice raspy.

“Yes. I told you, right? There’s nothing I can’t do,” the scarred man replied with a smug grin. He sat across from Olivine and drank from her glass.

After soothing his throat, he put on a solemn expression and began to reveal the results of his investigation. “The nurse who delivered Angeline’s baby said she gave the baby to a man named Mr. Miller. She was paid five hundred thousand to keep this a secret.”

After a pause, he added, “If I hadn’t resorted to special means to dig up the truth, the fact that Floretta Golding’s birth mother is Angeline Sorelle will forever remain a secret!”

Floretta’s birth mother is Angeline?

Olivine slumped in her seat in shock before she could wipe the tears away from her face.

She gripped the tablecloth so tightly that her body started shivering.

How can this be? What right does Angeline have to be connected to Evander this way?

“Ms. Sherrock, since we’ve collaborated previously, I shall help you deal with this,” the scarred man offered casually as his gaze turned dark.

“Kill the nurse so she won’t tell anyone the truth!” Olivine commanded as her chest heaved. She slammed the table as jealousy eroded her rationality. “I’ll pay you one million if you can get this done!”

I cannot let Evander find out that Angeline is Floretta’s birth mother. Otherwise, I will never stand a chance against her.

“Deal!”

After the scarred man left, Olivine’s jealousy intensified. She knew that with her current state, she couldn’t defeat Angeline alone and needed someone else to help her.

Thus, she pulled her phone out to contact Sherrock Group’s PR department. She ordered them to inform all subsidiaries of Sherrock Group to withdraw their investment from Sorelle Group.

That very day, Sorelle Group suffered a huge blow. As a result of the withdrawal of investment, they couldn’t continue with their latest bidding project today. Being forced to pause work for one day meant they lost a considerable sum of labor costs.

Joseline’s due date was three days later. She was resting at the hospital and nearly had a miscarriage after hearing the news. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Without hesitation, she rushed to the company to conduct an emergency meeting.

The PR department’s manager and other employees hung their heads in silence as she reprimanded them.

“Why did this happen? What did I hire you guys for? What is the cause of all this?”

The manager felt a chill go down his spine. Carefully, he looked at her and replied, “Calm down. Ms. Sorelle. You don’t want to affect your baby, right? According to our investigation, Sherrock Group was the one behind this.”

Sherrock Group?

Joseline arched a brow in confusion. “We have never been enemies with Sherrock Group. You should at least think things through before you lie to me!”

“Perhaps you offended her in private and dragged the company into your feud,” the manager complained.

Realization struck Joseline after she heard the manager’s complaint. She promptly dismissed everyone from the PR department and called someone.

When the call was connected, Joseline quickly changed her attitude and tone. “Ms. Sherrock, I am Joseline Sorelle. It’s been a while since we met for coffee, right?”

“Cut to the chase,” Olivine responded coolly.

Despite her dissatisfaction with Olivine’s attitude, Joseline had no choice but to tamp her feelings down and ventured, “I’m calling about the withdrawal of investment. Did Angeline offend you recently and made you upset? Our family has cut off ties with her, but you can let me know. Perhaps I might be able to help you.”

“You can ask her about it,” Olivine snapped and hung up.

Stunned by the other woman’s hostility, Joseline got so upset that her belly started wrenching in pain. A scowl marred her face.

She decided to vent her hatred for Olivine on Angeline.

B*tch! She’s still causing trouble for me even after she left!

After cursing Angeline, she ordered her company’s PR department to investigate Angeline’s motive. When she learned that Angeline had been searching for her child in secret, a vicious glint appeared in her eyes.

She decided to take this to her advantage.

In the meantime, Evander and Angeline were in Summerbank and had no idea what happened back home. They were oblivious to the new incident that cropped up.

Angeline had been feeling unwell since the game commenced in the morning. After taking a few bites of her food, she asked the director for a leave of absence and went back to her room to get some rest.

Concerned, Evander headed to Angeline’s room to take a look at her a few minutes later.

Angeline was curled up in her bed, unconscious while hugging the covers.

Evander reached out to touch her forehead and was shocked to feel the scalding temperature.

When he realized she was running a fever, his expression turned grim. A regretful look surfaced in his icy gaze.

I should’ve brought Angeline back ashore when I learned she was afraid of water. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be running a fever now.

Fishing his phone out, he called the doctor arranged by the guesthouse and was about to go and get her a glass of water.

However, as soon as he spun on his heels, Angeline grabbed his arm without warning.

She was muttering, “D-Don’t kick me out. Mom, I was framed. Please believe me…”

Evander turned over his shoulder and noticed the pained expression on Angeline’s face. She seemed to be having a nightmare as she was trembling all over in fear.

“My baby. Don’t throw my baby away. I want you. Why, Hanson? The person who betrayed me was Joseline.”

Tears streamed down Angeline’s face as she mumbled under her breath, venting the agony that she had been struggling to repress.

A slight pucker appeared between Evander’s brows. Feeling sorry for her, he reached out to wipe her tears away.

He couldn’t really experience the pain that Angeline was experiencing, but after becoming Floretta’s father, he could empathize with her torture.

How much had she suffered in the past that made her feign nonchalance to show that people don’t get to her?

“Mr. Golding.”

The doctor had arrived.

Evander regained his composure and was back to his usual indifferent self.

When the doctor came in, he ordered, “Take a look at her.”

The doctor nodded and came over to Angeline with the medical kit. After checking Angeline’s condition, he hooked her to an IV drip.

“Mr. Golding, don’t worry. Ms. Sorelle caught a fever, that’s all. Fortunately, it was discovered in time. She’ll recover tomorrow morning after IV therapy and a good night’s rest.”

“Mm,” Evander grunted in response and relaxed slightly.

He then saw the doctor out of the room.

As the doctor walked away, Evander was about to return to the room when he received a call from Sylas.

It was past midnight in Spaunia, so something urgent must’ve cropped up for Sylas to call him at that hour.

Evander answered the call to hear Sylas’ grim voice. “Mr. Golding, do you remember the nurse who brought Ms. Floretta back from the hospital back then? The one we had a deal with? She drowned in the sea at seven tonight.”
