Chapter 100~ The VIP client.
"I second that. Lewis Hendrix would lead the company better."
"There's been one issue after another ever since Miss Davis took over the position. I think it's sufficient to say that she's failed to run the company."Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
"That's right. We don't have funds to use on lawsuits. Who's going to fix this mess? Our reputation will go down the drain."
The shareholders kept airing their views after Craig's statement. Seated on one of the chairs around the long table, Lewis had a victorious smirk on his face as he watched the scene unfold.
It was exactly as he had planned. This time, not even Jack Davis would be able to stop his daughter from being fired.
The company's reputation was going to be destroyed once everything blew up and Lora would have no way out of this. Ruining the company's image was enough for the board members to fire Lora Davis without waiting for the chairman's decision. Secretly taking out his phone, Lewis sent out a message.
When he received a response, he smirked before clearing his throat and saying, "Miss Davis, I know you wouldn't want to sabotage your father's company, so it must be someone close to you who might have leaked the design. However, that still means that you're responsible for the damage this will cause to the company. I've already talked to the VIP client and she's willing to only deal with the person responsible for leaking her customised design and leave the company alone."
"Oh really? That's great. It only makes sense that the person responsible should be dealt with instead of implicating the company," Lora replied lazily.
Lewis had a cruel smirk on his face as he thought, 'You just dug your own grave, Lora Davis.'
"So, how should the one responsible be dealt with?" Lewis asked.
"Whatever the client decides. They can be fired or taken to the police for theft and leaking of company secrets," Lora proclaimed.
"Are you aware that you're the one who would have to take responsibility, Miss Davis? I think stepping down from your position is enough-"
"No. Whoever is responsible for this should be made an example of. If it's confirmed that it's from my end, I'll turn myself in. However, if we find the real culprit, I expect the same from them," Lora remarked confidently.
"How did the confidential design end up with a rival company, Miss Davis? We are still waiting for your explanation," Craig questioned. "Could it be you have a mole by your side? Your assistant perhaps?"
Lora's eyes flashed with anger. She glared at Craig and hissed, "Leave my assistant out of your schemes, Mr Hendrix. You can do what you want to me but don't hurt my people, or else..."
"Huh, I see. You have no way to explain yourself. We will take it that you did leak the company secrets to a rival company. With that being said, the reason for this meeting is to fire you. So, either you step down willingly, or we force you to." The other shareholders agreed with the man.
"That's right. Your time is up, Miss Davis. We've given you enough chances. Leave the company before you're fired by the board."
Silence fell upon the place, however, Lora remained calm and collected. Lewis sneered when he saw her expression, thinking she couldn't pretend to be confident for long.
"The VIP client is here. It's too late,
Miss Davis, You will be forced to leave now," Lewis remarked with an annoying smirk on his lips. "It's so embarrassing for the daughter of
the chairman to be thrown out of the
company like a dirty dog."
He had heard that the client was from a very powerful family. If the Davis & Co. Company offended such a person, not even Jack Davis would support his daughter. So, Lora was done for.
Now that the company's reputation was at stake, Lora would have no choice but to protect her family's company and step down from the CEO's position.
Soon, his dreams would come true and he would finally become the new CEO.
At the same time, Lora simply smiled and folded her arms across her chest before saying, "I would like to see how I'll be forced to leave."
The doors to the conference room opened and one beautiful woman with dark hair and gray eyes walked in. She was followed by a team of five men dressed in black tailored suits.
Lewis got to his feet and
approached the door. He eagerly
said, "I'm so sorry you had to come all the way here for this. We are
sorry for this inconvenience. Ournet
CEO is new and has no proper management skills. Perhaps she didn't secure the design well and hence, it got into the wrong hands. I hear it was meant to represent your family?"
The woman glanced at Lewis and nodded, saying, "That's right... I wanted to have a necklace that could make me feel like my family is with me wherever I go. I can't believe another company stole the design and mass-produced it. That's an insult."
Lewis smiled when he saw how angry the woman was.
He cleared his throat and said, "It's a shame, Ma'am. As a company, we deeply apologise for the inconvenience caused. Our CEO has been asked to resign, so, a lawsuit wouldn't be necessary." The woman arched an eyebrow. Lewis blocked her view so she couldn't see who else was in the room.
She asked, "Where's your CEO?"
Lewis smirked, his heart jumping in excitement. The VIP would demand that Lora resign from her position and everything would finally be his!
He chuckled internally and stepped away before replying, "There she is-"
"Sister-in-law!"
Before anyone could tell what was happening, the gorgeous woman rushed towards the head of the table and hugged Lora.
"Omg! You look so cool sitting here as the CEO, sis-in-law. So badass," the woman said.
"What's going on here?" Lewis asked, a sinking feeling settling into his stomach. "W-who are you?"
Come to think of it, this was the woman he had seen with Ryan Kingsley the other day. Could she be...?
"Oh, me? I'm Diane Kingsley, from the Kingsley Group and I'm the VIP client," Diane replied. "So, what did you say about my sister-in-law?"
