His Cure

Chapter 21 Be my girlfriend.

..

He scoffed and raised his hand up to slap her but she quickly resorted to the last option –A hug.

Her heart beats were unsteady.

A questioning frown asking herself why she did that appeared on her face.

Gregory’s hand was suspended in the air.

He stared at the wall before him in shock and discombobulation.

His eyes slowly looked down at the body that is gummed to his.

He peered his gaze at her and slowly, his hand slops down to his side.

His head cleared up and he felt relieved.

They both stood transfixed on the spot in tranquility.

A heavy wind blew the curtain away and the cloud rumbled.

Beatrice wanted to pull out of the hug but she hesitated.

She didn’t know if he was fine as he isn’t saying anything but since he didn’t hit her, he should be fine, isn’t that right?

But, she still held on, for no reason.

The rain starts to drizzle down.

They could hear the plips of it on the roof.

Gregory looked out before bringing his stare back on her.

Oh, well..

“I…”his eyes flickers.

“Have you simmer down, already?”she asks gently.

“I.. yes. I have.”he gave a nervous sigh.

She nodded and unlocked her arms around him.

“I, I was.. I was not in my right state of mind when I.. you know, you could say I was a bit flabbergasted so I just did the first thing that came to my mind. I.. I had no time to think..”she uttered gibberish, anxiously.

She didn’t want him to have the wrong idea.

“I won’t ask you why you did that.”he flashed a short but worthwhile smile at her before going to sit down on the bed.

“If.. I didn’t know you were.. I mean,”she paused and suck a breath in.

“I thought you were in here with..”

“Beatrice?”he cooed.

Her whole system freezed up when she heard him call her by her name, for the first time.

She stared at him.

“You don’t have to explain. You can leave.”he uttered.

“I just don’t want you to..”

“I know what you’re worried about and I know you did that to escape being hit by me, without any ulterior motive. I am..”he paused and heaved a sigh.

“I regret trying to hit you also, so, I’m thankful you did that.”he added.

Beatrice raised her brow up. She thought he was going to apologize, or could that words be assumed to be one?. If it is, she was not expecting him to say it in that way but in,”I am sorry.”way.

“Uhm… yeah.. haha.. I.. will go out now.”she said without moving, just staring at the door.

Gregory darts his gaze at her.

“You.. will.. go out now.”he felt surprise seeing her still standing there.

She turned to him.

“Oh, yeah. I will. Do you want me to clean this mess up?”she chuckled in a jumpy way while scratching the back of her neck and pointing to the floor with her other hand.

“This?”he stared down at the mess he made then looked up at her.

“Never mind. That’s not your job.”

“Uhh – yes, I, of course. I will.. step out now.”she masked her embarrassment and went out.

Okay, that was hell in there.

She scuttled down to the kitchen to make herself a cup of tea since the weather was freezing.

While brewing the tea with a spoon, she wondered if he’d ever drink anything else aside from coffee and alcohol.

She decided to make him one too.

She took it to the front of his room on a tray.

She’d picked up a loaf of bread and puts it on the tray also.

She knocked on his door gently.

“What?”came his immediate response.

“The weather is quite cold, so, I brought tea and bread to help thin your pains away.”she gulped down.

“Thank you. Drop it.”

“Huh?. I… should drop it here?”her brows furrowed up.

He didn’t reply her again.

She scoffed before setting the tray down on the floor.

This is what she get for being nice.

“Asshole.”she cursed him under her breath before she left.

The rain was still pouring down outside.

She went to grab her tea and made her way to her room.

She took a weary sip out of the drink but spit it out immediately.

“It’s hot.”tears welled up in her eyes.

Geez. Her life is such a mess. How she even forget to blow some air on this tea?.

It’s all because of that jerk!

Who?.

Daniel.

No

– Gregory.

“You’re hopeless.”she said to herself before taking the cup to her lips again, drawing in a sip.

“Ahhh.. it’s so hot!!”

Two Days Later(Weekend)

..

The tolling sound of the church bell being rung pervaded the environment.

The flapping sound of the the bird’s limbs as they fly up around in the beautiful sky was quite ear – piercing too.

All these affected Beatrice’s peaceful sleep.

She groaned and buried her face in the pillow.

“It is not the sun today?, but the bell and birds?”she complained, sorrowfully.

She heard the sound of fireworks being released into the sky and she lifted her head up from the pillow.

What’s the occasion?

She stood up and went to part the curtain.

She opened the window and peeked out of the room.

Why is everywhere looking so vivacious even when there is no one around?

She looked up at the sky and beamed at the sight of the fireworks.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Another one sets off. It’s color – Yellow, red and blue reflected in her eyes ball.

She closed the window, but left the curtains pulled apart.

The surrounding was wet and cool given that there has been a consecutive downpour of rain for three days.

She really hoped it wouldn’t rain today as she would be going to see her sick mother.

She ambled out of the room, going to the kitchen downstairs.

Since he has been a kind man to have granted her a day off for her to go see her mum, she should prepare a delicious breakfast for him, no?.

“That guy is a sucker. He probably wouldn’t appreciate that.”she blurts her thoughts out.

“Or, should I escape after getting out of here?”he placed her hand on her chin, contemplating on the idea.

She chuckled and shook her head.

“Nope. He’s got a pretty good connection, I would be caught in no time if I do that.”she rinsed the pot.

“Or.. should I have a doctor feign my death?.”

“Oh, heaven no!”she shook her head vigorously with a loud laugh.

The entrance door to the kitchen flinged open and Gregory stepped in with a worried look.

She turned to him.

“Goo..”

“We’ve got a problem.”he cuts in.

His face was pale.

“What?”she didn’t understand what he was saying.

“Don’t tell me you’re going to stop me from..”

“No, no, not that.”he replied, gruffly.

She could hear his heavy breaths from where she stood.

“I’m sorry, but you will have to play the role of my girlfriend from now on.”
