Chapter 31 Why did You Let Me Go
Chapter 31 Why did You Let Me Go
Did Mr. Thompson find this young man's nonsense believable? The onlookers' sarcastic laughter
ceased and everyone was stunned. What the hell, did they hear wrongly?
"Thanks for your reminder. You helped avert a potentially huge disaster for our hotel!" For Fred to be
the manager of Berkeley Hotel, he certainly can read a person and situation. He could sense that Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
Quincy was protecting Krista and could only turn a blind eye to it.
"Then what about the compensation that you demanded?" Quincy asked with interest.
"Of course there is no need for it. I even have to thank this lady here." Fred said as he smiled at Krista,
"Lady, please forgive my rudeness. Thanks for helping our hotel avoid a big loss. I'll represent the hotel
to offer you 100 thousand yuan as a reward, how about it?"
Fred's initial reaction was to wonder if Master Quincy liked this lady. If he did, then he just made a big
mistake by offending Master Quincy's girl.
Everyone's jaw hit the floor when not only did Fred not insist that Krista compensate for the damage to
the 7 million yuan sculpture, he even wanted to reward her money for it!
They couldn't figure out why.
Naturally, Krista couldn't accept the money and could only look on as if it was all a prank.
"There is no need for the money, I think this lady wouldn't be interested in this money. Alright, it's late.
Since the matter had been resolved, let's all go back to rest." Quincy calmly said.
Everyone left after Quincy finished. Before Quincy left, he gently patted Fred's shoulder and smiled at
him.
This made Fred very happy. He thought that he had mishandled this but from the looks of it, not only
was Master Quincy not angry, but he was also rather satisfied with his performance!
Krista carried out her clothes from the room and went to stay in Kyla's room as Alden went to check
into another room.
"Krista, if it wasn't for Quincy today, you would have incurred a big loss," Kyla said to Krista as they laid
on the bed. Krista was still shaken from the incident and held onto Kyla tightly. They covered
themselves with the same blanket and only their snow-white shoulders were exposed.
"Don't you think that it's strange for a delicate beauty like you to beg Mr. Thompson at length to no avail
but as soon as Quincy spoke up, this matter was resolved perfectly! The most important point was this
was an issue of 7 million yuan! Do you think that Quincy knows Mr. Thompson?"
"You think too much, you should know very well Quincy's situation. If he knows Mr. Thompson, will he
be so repulsive?" Krista immediately refuted Kyla's speculation, "I think it must be what he said had
struck a chord with Mr. Thompson. I know because my father is a businessman, they are all very
superstitious and can be easily swayed. Today's incident doesn't have anything to do with Quincy."
"No matter what, Quincy had helped you today. You shouldn't mistreat him from now on." Kyla was
doubtful of what Krista said. Even she wasn't fooled by the huge discrepancy in what Quincy said so
how could Mr. Thompson believe it?
"Forget it, this time he was lucky." Krista still despised Quincy.
Krista and Kyla woke up early the next day and they went out to buy some sanitary pads.
As they were walking along the corridor, a couple was fooling around and "crash!" a youth with a
mohawk hairstyle knocked down a wall clock causing it to crash to the ground with its internal pieces
strewn about.
The workers quickly called Fred over and his heart shattered when he saw the damaged clock.
"Was this caused by you?" Fred asked the youth with the mohawk, "Do you know that this antique was
purchased overseas by me for 1.08 million yuan?"
As he said this, Fred showed the receipt to the mohawk youth and as soon as he saw the receipt, his
worries eased. He waved the receipt at Fred and said, "Mr. Thompson, I did break your clock today!"
The mohawk youth was an onlooker yesterday and, in his mind, Fred was a superstitious fool.
"I just looked at the receipt and noticed that your clock was bought from the USA. This clock is made
by a 19th-century clock-maker, isn't it? Do you know that our country is now in a tariff war with the
USA…"
The mohawk youth regurgitated whatever Quincy had said yesterday. In the end, he said, "So you see,
I helped your hotel avert a huge loss. You can give me thirty to fifty thousand yuan and be done with it."
The mohawk youth was expecting a windfall but what came was Fred's yell instead!
"How dare you ask for money from me!" Fred was furious. Yesterday he was being respectful to Master
Quincy. Who the hell did this youth think he was? Do you take me, Fred, for a fool? "I now decide that
you need to pay me twice the cost, otherwise don't expect to leave this hotel!"
"Hey, how dare you threaten me? Do you know who I am?" The mohawk youth pointed his finger at
Fred and said arrogantly, "My father is the director of JD Group and 10 times richer than you. He is also
well connected with the top people!"
"Oh?" Fred smiled, "Just as I said, you must pay back twice the cost to me otherwise don't think of
leaving here today. I want to see how capable your father is."
"Hey, since you are tired of living, I'll grant you your wishes. It won't help you even if you kneel and bow
to me in a while!" The mohawk youth took out his cellphone and called his father.
"Hey, father, I've been detained by someone… I just broke his antique and he wants me to pay him
twice the price. He doesn't even give a damn about you…"
"What the fuck, I think he is tired of living. Son, tell me, what's his name? Where are you? I'll head over
now."
"He's Fred Thompson and I'm at the Berkeley Hotel!" The mohawk youth smirked at Fred.
"Who? Fred Thompson of Berkeley Hotel?"
"What's the matter, dad?" The mohawk youth asked in surprise. Why was dad so astonished?
"You scoundrel, why did you antagonize Mr. Thompson? Don't you have anything else to do?
Apologize to Mr. Thompson immediately!"
"Father, what's the matter with you? He wants me to compensate him twice the cost. Isn't he taking
advantage of me?" The mohawk youth was furious.
"Pay! Not to mention twice, you'll have to pay even if it's ten times. Additionally, you rascal must have
said something to offend Mr. Thompson. Now no matter what you must seek Mr. Thompson's
forgiveness. Otherwise don't you dare come home!" His father hung up the call after finishing.
The mohawk youth isn't stupid. A person who can cause his father to be so fearful wasn't someone that
he could offend.
"Mr. Thompson, I'm sorry. It's all my fault and I apologize unreservedly to you. Didn't you say to
compensate you twice the cost? Okay, I accept totally …" The mohawk youth bows as he walks
towards Fred with a very meek attitude fully prepared to kneel before him to seek his forgiveness.
"Don't make a fool of yourself here. Go to the first floor until you pay up. Fuck off as soon as you pay
the full amount!"
At this moment, Fred's insults were like music to the mohawk youth's ears. He nodded his head like a
stray dog and quickly dragged his girlfriend out of the corridor.
As the onlookers dispersed, Fred noticed that Krista and Kyla were among them and his heart sank.
"Ms. Krista, Ms. Kyla, you're here." He greeted them submissively.
Krista and Kyla still hadn't recovered from the shock from what they had just seen.
The mohawk youth's situation was the same as theirs yesterday. Furthermore, his damage to the clock
which was valued at a million yuan was far lesser compared to Krista's which was 7 million yuan.
The mohawk youth already said that his father was the director of JD Group and was well connected
with the top people. Even someone of that status was afraid of Fred. What was Fred's background?
What was the true reason for him to let her go yesterday?
"Mr. Thompson, what's going on here?" At this moment, Quincy walked over as he stretched his back.
"Er…" Fred was at a loss. If he related what just happened, he would have exposed that they had put
up an act yesterday. It was obvious that Master Quincy doesn't want Ms. Krista and Ms. Kyla to know
the truth.
"After hearing what you said yesterday, I reflected on myself and decided to get rid of all the American
antiques. This clock was smashed by me." Fred decided to lie. He can't expose Master Quincy in front
of Ms. Krista. At the most, he'll privately seek Quincy's forgiveness later.
Krista and Kyla were once again stunned when they heard what Fred said. Especially Krista as she
continued to convince herself that all these had nothing to do with Quincy.
At that moment, it was clear that Fred had lied deliberately for Quincy!
Krista looked at Quincy with her eyes wide open. She could not understand what was going on.
After this incident had passed.
Krista and Kyla left the hotel in a hurry.
"Krista, you saw for yourself Mr. Thompson's attitude. He was not concerned about the 'tariff war' and
neither what Quincy said mattered. I'm sure Quincy and Mr. Thompson know each other very well!"
Kyla said to Krista as they walked back after buying the sanitary pads.
"It certainly looks that way but no matter what I can't believe Quincy. You should know how poor Quincy
is in school!" Krista frowned as she said, "We can't be sure now. Let's continue to observe! If he is
hiding something, eventually he'll slip up and reveal something."
"Okay, but you should thank him when you see him later," Kyla advised.
When they reached the hotel, Quincy and Alden had already called a taxi and was preparing to go back
to school. Ramon had already slipped away perhaps he didn't dare to face up to Krista and Kyla.
In the taxi, Krista wanted to thank Quincy but she didn't have a chance as he didn't look towards her.
Additionally, she had always given Quincy a foul attitude and she felt embarrassed to smile at Quincy.
When they got down the car, Krista struggled to say 'thank you' but the words just couldn't leave her
mouth.
"Go back with Kyla, Alden. I have something on." Quincy was eager to look for Jane and bring her to
view the villa.
"Krista," Kyla whispered to Krista and glared at her. Only then did Krista muster up her courage.
"Quincy," Krista quickly called out to Quincy.
"What's the matter…" Quincy looked bewildered at her.
"That… yesterday's issue… thanks." Krista stammered.
"No worries. You guys go back first. Bye." Quincy thought nothing of it and ran off.
Krista looked at Quincy's back as he disappeared into the distance. At that instance, she felt snubbed.
A rich girl like her was actually ignored by a poor student like Quincy and Quincy didn't seem to care
about her.
