I was already worried to death, and my naïve little mate seemed to love driving me insane by constantly throwing herself into danger. Was it so damn difficult for her to understand how much I loved her? "Little mate!" I growled, throwing her onto our bed. "You should know better than to put yourself in danger. Or do you need me to remind you just how brutal your punishment can be, huh?"

She didn't seem to understand that she was my greatest weakness. My enemies could use her to break me-capture her, hold her hostage, and force me to my knees. And if they ever demanded my life in exchange for hers, I wouldn't hesitate.

Regret flickered in her eyes, and she looked like she was on the verge of tears as she whispered, "I'm sorry, honey. From now on, I'll always let you know before doing something like that."
