Chapter 551 So, So Close

Chapter 551 So, So Close

Damien soon arrived at the pizzeria and nudged Clarissa awake.

“Let’s go home. Look at how drunk you are,” he reprimanded.

Clarissa couldn’t hear him at all, though.

He lifted her into his arms with ease.

She snuggled up against him instinctively, seemingly a little more lucid than before. She even said to

Bethany dazedly, “Are you coming home with me?”

Bethany mumbled, “Do you think I’m an idiot? Why would I allow my future mother-in-law to see me like

this?”

Then, she fell asleep again.

Damien carried Clarissa to the back seat. A lock of hair fell onto her face, and she wriggled around,

trying to get it away. When she couldn’t get it away, she started to whine.

She only quietened down when Damien tucked her hair behind her ear.

“Just look at how drunk you are…” he muttered. Then, he got into the driver’s seat.

He called his chauffeur and told him to come to the pizzeria to take Bethany home.

When they got back to Hill Villa, Shirley happened to arrive as well.

Damien carried Clarissa out of the car and ran right into Shirley at the villa’s entrance.

“It’s good that you’re here, President Lawrence. I’d like to ask Clarissa what the hell is going on here!

How did she know about whatever happened between Frank and Iris Benson, and what proof does she

have? She better not be lying just so she could ruin Joseph’s wedding! She was the one who turned

down the opportunity to marry him back then! What the hell is she trying to pull by ruining his wedding

now?” Shirley glared at Clarissa, eyes filled with hate.

Unfortunately for her, Clarissa was snuggled up in Damien’s arms and deeply asleep. She didn’t hear a

word of Shirley’s furious rant.

This made Shirley feel a little awkward.

Damien frowned. Clarissa had told him about Iris and Frank, but he didn’t know how Shirley had found

out about it.

At this moment, however, he just said, “Clarissa’s not the one who spread the word. You should go and

ask Frank about this if you want to know more.” After that, he walked into the villa.

The door shut right before Shirley’s eyes.

Shirley stomped her foot angrily. If Frank was willing to tell her about this, why would she even need to

come all the way here?

In the villa, Damien said to Mrs. Faber, “Prepare some hangover soup.”

Thanks to Bethany, Mrs. Faber was no longer resentful of Clarissa. She hurried into the kitchen when

she saw how drunk Clarissa was.

Soon, she brought the hangover soup out.

Damien propped Clarissa up against his chest and fed her the soup.

Her face was red by the time she finished drinking the soup, and she turned to wrap her arms around

Damien before falling deeply asleep.

She slept the whole afternoon away.

When she woke up, she looked around as if searching for something.

“What are you looking for?” Damien’s voice rang out.

She felt a little awkward at being caught in the act.

She turned around to see him sitting on the sofa with a book in his hands.

For a moment, she felt dazed. It was as if a lot of time had passed. They seemed to be back to how RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

things were three or four years ago, yet everything seemed to be different. It was as if he had always

been by her side no matter how much things had changed.

In that instant, she suddenly felt so, so close to him.

She propped her head up and blinked slowly.

“Hey.”

Damien’s gaze landed on her. “Who are you calling?”

“Are there any other people in this room? Who could I be calling?” Clarissa was still feeling the

remnants of her drunkenness, so she was bolder than usual.

“What is it?” He suppressed his anger.

“How’d I get back here?”

“You flew back here on your own,” Damien said nonchalantly.

Clarissa pouted.

“Where’s Bethany?”

“I asked the chauffeur to take her home.”

She nodded.

“Did you spread the word about Iris and Frank?” Damien asked.

“Say what? Who could I have told? I mean, you’re the only person I’ve told about this. What’s wrong?”

Clarissa was surprised.

Damien frowned. There had to be a third person who knew about this. Who could it be?

“It’s nothing,” he said.

Suddenly, something occurred to Clarissa. She asked, “Is Joseph getting married today? I forgot all

about it…”

She flipped onto her back and transferred ten thousand dollars to Joseph’s account.

Then, she closed her eyes and continued to wait for her hangover to get better.
