Chapter 33 She's My Sweetheart
Alicia Casey called Grace Florrick. Sad sobs came from the phone.
"Alicia... I don't know what to do..."
She became nervous as she heard it.
"What happened? Grace, why are you leaving all of a sudden?"
"I'm pregnant."
Grace's answer frightened Alicia. She felt as if struck by lightning. Her face was full of disbelief.
Grace was a cheerful and carefree girl. She liked to go to the bar with Alicia and looked very open.
But in fact, this girl was very conservative indeed. Although she would date different men, she always kept her distance and never crossed the line.
Alicia was stunned by this heavy news for several seconds.
"Who is the father of the child?"
The sobbing sound on the phone was even sadder as she didn't want to answer this question.
Alicia continued to ask, "Does that man know about this?"
Grace suddenly burst into tears.
"Alicia, I can't have this baby... What should I do? My dad will definitely let me marry if he finds out, but I can't marry him..."
Alicia knew her best friend was very broken, but what could she do? She was on a business trip in Blendford City, so she couldn't go to her side to comfort her immediately.
"Grace, calm down. I'll talk to you when I return to Arnoford City."
After saying a lot of comforting words, Grace finally calmed down.
Alicia turned around and went back to have dinner. As soon as she stepped into the door, she saw a hot girl sitting next to Edmond, with her beautiful legs raised, winking at him vigorously.
"Don't refuse me. I just want to make friends with you. Are you afraid that your girlfriend will be angry? She will not know it if you add me now."
The voice of the hot girl was so charming that all the men were at her feet.
Edmond lit a cigarette casually.
"That's not my girlfriend."
As Alicia, who was standing at the door, heard his answer, a thought flashed past her mind. "Heh, sure enough, one's nature is hard to change."
Unexpectedly, the man suddenly said.
"She's my little sweetheart."
Alicia staggered.
The hot girl was so thundered that her entire face turned blue. She stood up and left in a self- defeating way as she found Alicia came back.
Alicia picked another chair and sat down by Edmond, complaining.
"It's embarrassing." All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
"I'm just stating a fact." He looked at Alicia with a smile in his eyes, and asked, "Don't you like being called sweetheart?"
She was unwilling to argue with him.
"Hurry up and finish your food. We have to go back to the hotel to pack our luggage."
"Why?"
"Something happened to Grace. I'm afraid she would hurt herself. If we go back to the hotel and check out now, I'll be able to catch the early morning flight."
Edmond was a little displeased because he didn't enjoy the excellent room.
"Why not have a good rest before leaving? We can go back tomorrow."
"You can stay here but I will go back to Arnoford City tonight."
No one could stop Alicia once she made a decision.
As soon as they finished their dinner, Alicia rushed back to the hotel to check out.
Although Edmond was not happy, he couldn't leave her alone. When checking out in the hotel lobby, he was in a bad mood, his face stinky. The staff at the reception was frightened by him.
Hurrying to the airport, they really caught up with the early morning flight.
Edmond didn't say a word the whole time but dragged her luggage and held her hand.
Alicia hated hostile silence.
When she saw he seemed to be hurt by her, she softened and leaned over and blew a breath on Edmond's temples without control.
