Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 744

With those thoughts, the storm clouds hanging over Everett's head for days parted, revealing a bright, blue sky. The gloom on his face disappeared, and a slight smile tugged at his lips. "Got it."noveldrama

"If there's nothing else, I'll head out now..." Alex was about to leave when Everett spoke up again, "This document isn't urgent. Take your time with it—just have it done in three days."

Alex was initially surprised but quickly caught on. It seemed that, no matter how irritable the big boss got, his wife was like a soothing balm, able to calm any storm. Hopefully, the boss wouldn't throw another tantrum, or it'd be the employees who'd bear the brunt!

After work, Everett took a trip to the mall. He picked up gifts for Selena and their two kids, choosing things he knew they'd love. He figured since Selena had made the first move by coming back, he shouldn't be stingy. Making her happy was the least he could do.

After all, he was still deeply attracted to Selena, quirks and all. As long as they weren't too much, they added to her charm. Men tend to find reasons to overlook flaws when they're smitten. But when that fades, those same quirks become fodder for criticism.

The next day, Everett arrived at Moon Bay with a load of gifts. As he drove into the villa, he saw another car parked in his usual spot-it looked familiar. Forced to park elsewhere, he finally recognized it as Rhett's car. The same one from the night he had dinner with Selena, the one he'd accidentally bumped into.

He couldn't believe it was fixed so quickly and parked in his spot! So Rhett was at Moon Bay? Everett had a sinking feeling that things weren't as he'd thought. With a stern expression, he marched into the house.

Inside, laughter filled the living room. Rhett was playing with the kids, on his knees without a care, with Haley on his back like he was her trusty steed Haley, in her pink tutu, was fearless and her laughter was contagious.

Mateo was eagerly waiting his turn. "Uncle Rhett, lift me up high next?"

Rhett was all in. "Sure, Mateo, you're up next."

It was a scene of pure joy. Everett watched, feeling a blaze of anger rising. These were his kids-did they really need Rhett, an outsider, to entertain them?

He cleared his throat twice, his voice icy as he called out, "Mateo, Haley, Daddy's here."

His entrance shattered the joyful

vibe. Mateo glanced at Everett, a hint of longing in his eyes. But

remembering Everett's plans to marry someone else, leaving his mom and sister, he turned away in anger.

Mateo turned his head, pretending not to see him. Everett chuckled, a mix of frustration and disbelief. The little rascal, what attitude was this? He prided himself on treating Mateo like a prince, only to end up with an ungrateful brat?

Everett strode over, his gaze cold as it settled on Rhett. "Mr. Rhett seems to have plenty of free time, playing servant for someone else's kids. I wonder if your dad would be thrilled to know."

Seeing Everett, Rhett felt his mood sour. How did Everett always manage to show up when he was trying to spend time with Selena? Like he had a sixth sense for it!
