Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Selena turned her head slightly and spotted Abraham. She hadn't expected him to seek her out, and with a gentle press of her lips, she asked, "Abraham, what brings you here?"

Abraham easily picked up on the cautious look in her eyes. With a slight smile, he replied, "This time, I'm not here to trouble you, so no worries. But... maybe Ms. Selena should treat me to a meal?"

Selena caught his drift. Even though Abraham had sorted out the project issue for his own reasons, she still owed him a favor. Navigating the business world meant mastering the art of social graces.

Selena paused only briefly before smiling and nodding, "Of course."

"Perfect, I'm free tonight. No time like the present, so hop in," Abraham said, opening the backseat door.

Selena had little choice but to bend down and get in. The car cruised smoothly away.

Selena pulled out her phone and quickly sent Holt a message to explain the situation. Abraham glanced her way. The neon lights outside flickered across her profile, which was strikingly sculpted, almost like a piece of art.

Seeing her in person was far more delightful than the morning's encounter with a mere replica.

After about thirty minutes, the car pulled up in front of a cozy, exclusive restaurant. Abraham seemed to be a regular here, with his own private room. The manager led them inside and routinely asked, "Mr. Abraham, the usual?"

Abraham handed the menu to Selena, "You decide."

Selena waved her hand, “Abraham, this meal is to thank you for your help, so let's go with your usual favorites."

Abraham seemed to be making a polite gesture, and seeing her insist, he nodded to the manager. The manager got the hint and left.noveldrama

Soon, a variety of exquisite dishes graced the table, along with a bottle of fine vintage wine. Abraham raised his glass, "Care for a drink?"

"Sorry," Selena said, a bit sheepishly. "Abraham, after polishing off a whole bottle yesterday, I'm still a bit woozy today. Plus, I promised the kids l'@hang out with them tonight, and it's not great to smell of alcohol."

She picked up her tea cup, "Abraham, I'm truly thankful for your help. Can I toast you with tea instead?"

Abraham's dark eyes flickered with a hint of irritation. But she was smart, first showing vulnerability, then bringing up the kids. If he pushed it, he'd seem less than gentlemanly.

He didn't press further, clinking his glass with hers and taking a sip of wine, then said with a touch of wistfulness, "I quite like kids too. It's a shame I don't have any yet."

Selena remembered what Joy had said about Abraham's marriage being one of convenience, marrying his former boss's daughter. His wife was quite commanding, and their relationship had always been on the

They'd been living apart for over a year, which explained the lack of children. Best to steer clear of such topics.

Selena thought for a moment and smiled, "You're like a parent to the people of Newport; they're all your children, aren't they?"

Her response seemed to catch Abraham by surprise. He was momentarily taken aback before he chuckled, "Ms. Selena, you really have a way with words."

After the meal, Selena called the manager over to settle the bill, but the manager said, "Ms. Selena, Mr. Abraham has already taken care of it."

She couldn't help but glance at Abraham, “I thought I was treating you."

Abraham finished his last sip of wine and met her deep, dark eyes, "I'm not one to let a lady pick up the tab. There'll be other opportunities."
