Mommy,We Got a Husband

Chapter 498: You Initiated It, I Didn't Force You

After meeting Neil, Alaric couldn't calm down for a long time.

Neil was right; an ordinary person would definitely be traumatized by such an event, so Stellan was no exception.

After this incident, Alaric was both scared and angry. It was indeed an oversight. Watching Ambrose get shot right in front of him, how could Stellan not be afraid?

After much deliberation, Alaric worked late at the office and then drove himself to the outside of The Knight Mansion.

The car was already parked outside, but he suddenly found he didn't have the courage to get out. It felt like there were two versions of himself arguing inside his body.

[Alaric, you're already here. Isn't this why you came? Why don't you get out of the car?] [No, going back like this is too undignified. What will you say when you go back? What if Galatea doesn't welcome you back?]

[Dignity? You don't need to talk about dignity with your own wife. Alaric, you're a man. What's wrong with apologizing to your wife? Is it that embarrassing?]

[But you've already apologized several times. Why can't she do it once? Women need comfort, but don't men need it too? Isn't it about gender equality? Shouldn't everything be reasonable?]

[No, a family isn't a place for reasoning. Emotions don't follow logic.]

[But you can't be unreasonable, right? Was I wrong in this matter? Shouldn't I have been angry? Wasn't my anger because I love Stellan? Why can't you understand?]

After various debates within himself, there was still no clear winner.

[So frustrating, it's harder than going to war.] Alaric sighed inwardly.

Alaric pointed at his phone, muttered to himself, "Stellan, I'll count to ten. If you call me, I'll go back immediately. 1, 2... 8, 9, 9, 9..."

At that moment, although his phone didn't ring, he received a text message, and he immediately smiled triumphantly.

"See? Admitting your mistake, right? Missing me, right?" He said to his phone.

Alaric opened the text message, finding it was from Gillian.

[Alaric, it's me. Why haven't you gone back so late? You just recovered; you shouldn't be working so late.]

Seeing it was from Gillian, Alaric's expression changed instantly to disappointment. [I went home today.]

Seeing Alaric's reply, Gillian was also disappointed. He went home? Was it because he didn't want to stay in the same hotel and be misunderstood by Stellan?

After replying to Gillian, Alaric looked at his phone again, feeling particularly angry.

[I've been away from home for so many days, but you don't care. Stellan, you're really something!] Alaric spoke to The Knight Mansion.

After saying that, Alaric was about to leave, but then he remembered he had just told Gillian he went home. If she saw him back at the hotel, it would be even more awkward.

He simply turned off the engine again, feeling exhausted and indeed tired, not wanting to go anywhere.

He reclined the seat, lay down, and closed his eyes. Was this karma for doing something bad? He was right at the doorstep but had to sleep in the car. Strangely enough, he slept quite well in the car.

Now, Stellan took a sleeping pill every night before bed so that she slept very early, waking up only in the morning.

After waking up, she got out of bed to draw the curtains, seeing Alaric's car parked outside.

[When did he come back? Did Alaric sleep in the car all night?] Thinking of this, Stellan quickly changed clothes and went out.

Alaric didn't expect to sleep so soundly. He had planned to return to the office before dawn so no one would know, but he ended up sleeping until now.

Seeing Stellan walking out from the yard, Alaric had no time to run. He quickly adjusted the seat, sat upright in the driver's seat, and opened the car window.

Before Stellan could say a word as she approached, Alaric quickly regained his composure, "I just got here!" He couldn't let Stellan know he'd spent the night sleeping in his car.

"I came back to get something." Alaric quickly added.

"What did you come back to get?" Stellan asked.

"A phone charger," Alaric lied smoothly, "I lost the previous one."

"You just came back for a charger?"

"Yeah," Alaric answered as if he had thought it through, "What else?"

"Okay, I'll get it for you."

With that, Stellan walked back inside. Alaric angrily slapped his own mouth: "Big mouth!"

After a while, Stellan returned, and Alaric was still sitting upright in the driver's seat, staring straight ahead.

"Get out of the car." Stellan ordered as she approached.

[You want me to get out of the car? ]Alaric questioned in his heart, so he didn't move.

"Hurry up!" Stellan voiced more forcefully.

So Alaric got out of the car, and Stellan put a coat on him, buttoning it up while scolding him: "Didn't I bring you clothes? Why are you still wearing so little? You just recovered, don't you know that? How old are you, still so irresponsible!"

"I'm not that old! I'm in the prime of my life!"

Stellan glanced at him without speaking.

After putting the coat on him, Stellan handed him the charger. Alaric didn't know whether to take it or not.

At that moment, Alaric's phone rang. Stellan withdrew her hand holding the charger. Alaric took out his phone. Although he hadn't saved Gillian's number, she had texted him last night, and he remembered the number.

Alaric was afraid Stellan would misunderstand, so he looked up at her. Stellan said, "Answer it."

So Alaric answered.

"Alaric," Gillian uttered on the other end, "My dad is done with his work and wants to know when you're free. We can have dinner together; he has a lot to talk to you about."

"How about tonight?" Alaric replied.

"Okay, see you tonight."

After hanging up, Alaric looked at Stellan and slowly requested, "My superior, the one who brought me into the army, is in Arizona now. He and his daughter want to have

dinner tonight. Do you want to join us?"

"Do you think it's appropriate for me to go?"

"Either way, if you don't want to go, then..."

"I'll think about it."

"Okay, I'll wait for your call," Alaric spoke as he got into the car, adding, "You have to

call me. Even if you don't go, you have to let me know."

"Okay," Stellan nodded, "I'll call you."

Alaric responded indifferently, then started the car, muttering to himself, "You saidnoveldrama

you'd call me. I didn't force you."
