Mr. Powell Is Hunting for His Wife

Chapter 35: Killed Without Spilling Blood

Chapter 35: Killed Without Spilling Blood

Harper thought, if he told Anna about it, Anna might revenge even if she knew Mirabelle was Brooklyn’s fiancé.

For some reason, Harper always thought Anna was the kind of person that believed in “an eye for an eye”. If anyone harmed Anna, Anna would definitely take revenge.

Brooklyn massaged his forehead with his finger. He then slowly said, “I’ll give you a half-day leave. Repurchase everything broken and place them back onto Anna’s desk.”

“The fee…”

Brooklyn took a glance at Harper, “I’ll pay for them.”

Harper felt relieved.

He then patiently went through everything broken.

Harper was startled when he checked the price of the broken items. Initially, he thought Anna was from an ordinary well-off family. After all, Anna bought a unit in a luxurious apartment, and she was driving a sports car. But he never expected to see an ordinary glass Anna used to drink water was a limited edition from France.

Harper looked up the price on the internet. The glass cost almost five digits.

Harper almost fell to the ground.

Why did Mirabelle have to throw Anna’s stuff? Harper felt the pain to repurchase those items even if he wasn’t paying with his own money.

Harper made a list. Other than a broken perfume, he got everything on the list. That bottle of perfume might be a creation from Anna. All the money in the world couldn’t pay for Anna’s latest inspiration.

It seemed like he had to tell Anna what happened.

Mirabelle stomped out of Brooklyn’s office in heels. Everyone she passed by look at her curiously.

“Did you heard? Ms. Moss had a big fight with Mr. Powell in his office.”

“How did you know?”

“A person overheard their conversation when he handed a document to the office before. Ms. Moss looked furious! It must be about Anna.”

“You’re right. Anna was way too pretty. I always thought Anna is the seductive type of woman. I’m guessing there would be many people going after her if she wasn’t Mr. Powell’s assistant. Furthermore, she helped out in the collaboration between Hillvie and the Powell Group. Of course, Mr. Powell trusted her. You can’t blame Ms. Moss for being jealous…”

Gossip kept filling Mirabelle’s ears.

Mirabelle stopped and turned around.

“What did you just say? Do you dare to repeat what you said in front of me?”

Mirabelle was smiling, but she sounded cold.

Good, even the staff of the Powell Group saw her as a joke.

They were usual careful during her visits.

Now, they dared to gossip about her even before she left the premises. Because of Anna.

“No, no, Ms. Moss. We didn’t say anything.”

The staff immediately apologized to Mirabelle.

They didn’t want to offend Mirabelle at all.

Mirabelle sneered, “Pathetic fence-sitter.”

Mirabelle’s heels knocked on the marble floor as she stepped out of the premises.

The security guard helped Mirabelle to hold the car door open, “Ms. Moss, are we going back to Mr. Powell house or…”

Mirabelle wasn’t looking good. Did she fight with Mr. Powell?

“Take me back to the Moss Mansion,” Mirabelle threw her bag onto the car seat.

The Moss Mansion looked luxurious and magnificent.

The maids welcomed Mirabelle home as soon as she stepped into the garden, “Welcome home, Ms. Moss.”

Mirabelle waved her hand, “Where’s my mother?”

“Mrs. Moss just took a nap,” the caretaker said, “Do you need me to wake her up?”

Mirabelle nodded, “Tell my mother I’m home. I have something to discuss with her.”

Mirabelle’s mother was better than her in terms of strategic planning. Since Anna was already a threat that couldn’t be resolved easily, Mirabelle needed to discuss with her mother and planned out the next

step.

Mirabelle felt uneasy for some reason.

She kept having a feeling that Anna was different to all the women Brooklyn encountered in the past.

Mirabelle was afraid that Anna was capable of taking Brooklyn away from her.

After hearing out Mirabelle’s story, Jessica waved her hand and asked her caretaker to go downstairs.

She laid back on the comfortable couch, then smiled slyly, “Mirabelle, this is easy-peasy. Call up Brooklyn’s mother later. Greet her and tell her what happened today.”

Mirabelle immediately understood what Jessica was up to. After all, Jessica raised Mirabelle.

Jessica smiled in satisfaction, “There you go, my daughter.”

Jessica gladly took a sip of the black tea and continued, “But don’t mention that you made a scene in Brooklyn’s office. It was your worst move of the day.”

Jessica paused and looked at Mirabelle in dispute.

“What did I taught you? You have to act like a graceful lady in front of Brooklyn no matter what. You can’t be jealous or envious. What were you thinking when you went to Brooklyn’s office and made a scene? Make sure Brooklyn’s mother never know about it, or you won’t stand a chance.”

Mirabelle felt regret.

Mirabelle was the daughter of the Moss family. Why did she have to compete herself with an ordinary woman like Anna?

Even if Anna was prettier and she was more talented as a perfumer, so what?

The Powell family won’t allow Brooklyn to marry an ordinary girl.

After listening to Jessica’s advice, Mirabelle took out her phone and called Mrs. Powell up.

A few seconds later, the call connected. A tender yet stern voice rose from the other side of the phone, “Mirabelle, you haven’t called me quite some time. Did you forget about me after living in with Brooklyn?”

“Of course not,” Mirabelle sounded sweet, and it was a total opposite of how she reacted in Brooklyn’s office earlier.

“Mrs. Powell, I was helping out Brooklyn with the perfume. Then I heard that Brooklyn hired a new assistant, and she is a perfumer as well. You know me, I was always interested in perfume, and I liked creating new perfumes, so I asked Brooklyn’s new assistant to help me out in creating three perfumes. Unfortunately, the result wasn’t quite satisfying. However, I heard that this new assistant of Brooklyn’s helped out in the collaboration between the Powell Group and Hillvie with her perfume. I thought it was quite strange.”

Mrs. Powell looked serious after hearing Mirabelle’s words.

Mirabelle, my poor kid. She couldn’t even be cruel to her enemy.

It wasn’t just strange. It was obvious that Brooklyn spent money on the new assistant, hoping to help her out in her perfume career.

Mirabelle curled her lips.

Got you!

“I think her name is Anna,” Mirabelle answered tenderly.
