Chapter 1236
Chapter 1236 Know Me
Yet, no matter how many times she told herself she had to be strong, she still fell into despair, suffered, and became lost when faced with the cruel reality.
She didn't even know the biological father of her own daughter.
Her daughter was born out of wedlock. She's an illegitimate child.
Covering her face in her hands, Yuri wept bitterly.
Upon seeing Yuri in such a disheveled state, Marilyn felt as if a pent-up frustration had finally been released. A smug satisfaction spread across her face. She looked extremely pleased.
“Yuri, if you have any shred of shame left, it would be best if you just dropped dead right here and now. Then, I might still respect you as a woman.”
As she spoke, she turned her gaze back to the President, “Since she claims to have no connection with the Guzman family anymore, shouldn't you, Mr. President, compensate us for her infidelity during the marriage?”
With our son in jail, there is not much of a future left for the Guzman family. Might as well get some money out of this.
The President frowned at her insatiable greed, feeling extremely irritated.
Taking a step forward, he raised his hand to slap Yuri. “You wretch! You're such an embarrassment!”
In that split second, his wrist was firmly grabbed by a large, strong hand.
A tall man met the President's gaze as the latter looked up in surprise. The man was strikingly handsome. The most outstanding feature was his jet-black eyes that radiated an extreme coldness as if they were from the polar ice caps.
“Mr. Cartier?” The President exclaimed in surprise.
Even Herald gaped at the man in stunned silence. Isn't this Liam Cartier, the President of North Wind Airlines? What's he doing here?
Without uttering a word, Liam let go of the President's arm.
Instead, he leisurely walked up to Yuri, slowly lowering his tall body into a squat, and extended his dry, large palm toward the teary-eyed woman kneeling on the ground.
Yuri stared at the handsome man in front of her, captivated by his good looks. His prominent eyebrows and his stunning eyes exuded a hint of alluring sensuality. His thin lips were tightly pressed into a straight line, clearly indicating his foul mood at the moment.
Who is this? Why are his eyes filled with such gentle warmth when he looks at me? Never in her life had any man looked at her with such tender affection. Yuri felt a bit lost, scared, and confused.
Just then, she heard the man's pleasant voice ring out, “As long as I'm here, no one can bully you.”
“Mr. Cartier, do you know Yuri? She's my daughter.” Observing Liam's attitude toward Yuri, the President suddenly found Yuri more pleasing to the eye.
This brat does have some use after all. At least her pretty face is not completely useless.
At that thought, the President immediately forgave Liam for his rudeness toward himself earlier.
Liam's eyes were icy cold. Glancing at the president indifferently, he spoke cryptically, “Ms. Jenkins and I have indeed known each other from the past, but Ms. Jenkins... might have already forgotten about me.”
He knows who I am? Yuri's beautiful eyes widened in surprise as she continuously searched her mind for any memory of Liam.
However, not a single image showed up in her head.
“I don't think I know you.” Yuri bit her pale lip as she looked at him with confusion.
Upon hearing her soft and mellow voice, Liam felt a heat prickling his ears. The echo of her moan resonated in his mind. After all these years, in countless midnight dreams, her voice kept circling him like a haunting melody.
Her voice had kept him awake at night, causing him to toss and turn restlessly. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Liam's thin lips curved into a slight smile. His gaze was always filled with tender warmth whenever he looked at Yuri. “That's okay,” he said, “For the rest of our lives, I will make sure you get to know me well.”
That flirtatious statement was spoken in such an ambiguous manner.
Having never dated before, being flirted with by such a handsome man was uncharted waters to Yuri. A faint blush appeared on her pale face.
Her expression instantly became even more flustered, “Uh... I—”
She wanted to say something, but clumsily, she couldn't utter a word.
Secretly, she could not help but feel embarrassed. What's wrong with me? It seems like I can never learn to maintain a cool demeanor and remain strong despite any circumstances, unlike Ashlyn.
Even though she had made up her mind to become better—stronger, she had returned to her usual timid self in front of that man, much to her dismay.
