Morton and Eleanor sighed inwardly at the same time, wondering if their son truly understood what he was doing.
Jeremy had divorced Natalie over a female secretary. And now, there was another entanglement with a celebrity?
The couple responded politely to Skylar but completely ignored Helena.
Feeling the cold reception, Helena clenched her fists tightly, experiencing a wave of discomfort. She could clearly see how the couple viewed her.
She had never expected to marry Jeremy as she and Jeremy had not been in contact since that night.
To make up for that night, he had offered her some resources–lead roles in a movie and a TV show, both directed by well–known directors.
After securing these projects, she could rise to the top of the entertainment industry.
However, despite getting these opportunities, she didn’t feel particularly happy.
Meeting Jeremy today was purely coincidental. She knew that Jeremy’s heart belonged to Natalie and that he must have regretted that night. She, too, felt a pang of guilt in her heart!
Seeing the disdain from his parents now, she could only smile bitterly. Helena just hoped that Jeremy would be alright. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
“He’ll be fine, don’t worry,” Natalie said after seeing the anxious expressions on Morton and Eleanor’s faces, feeling worried herself.
The couple just nodded in response.
After about half an hour, the light outside the operating room went off.
A doctor came out and explained Jeremy’s condition after the
surgery
to his parents.
He had some fractures and a concussion, but there were no serious complications.
Hearing this, Natalie let out a sigh of relief. Then, she turned to Skylar and said, “Skye, you should head home. I’ll stay here with them a bit longer.”
She didn’t feel comfortable leaving just yet.
After speaking with Skylar, she looked over at Helena.
Helena gave Natalie a nod before saying, “I’m glad that Mr. Hughes is alright. I have an early shoot tomorrow, so I must head back and prepare.”
With that, she turned to leave.
Natalie didn’t know what to say at that moment. As a woman herself, she could sense Helena’s feelings for Jeremy.
When Helena came to find her, the anxiety and worry on her face were unmistakable–she had
clearly fallen for Jeremy.
After Skylar and Helena left, Natalie said to Morton and Eleanor, “Helena is a good person.”
“Natalie, we will only acknowledge you as our daughter–in–law. No one else matters to us, Eleanor replied quickly.
Morton remained silent.
It was clear that Natalie was firm in her stance–she wasn’t going to forgive Jeremy easily.
Skylar and Helena walked out of the hospital together.
Just as they were about to get into their respective car, Helena suddenly said, “Ms. Sullivan, could you please tell Ms. Jakeman that I’m sorry? There’s really nothing between me and Mr. Hughes, and I hope she doesn’t misunderstand our relationship.”
That night, if Jeremy hadn’t mistaken her for someone else, he wouldn’t have gotten involved
with her.
She knew he had mistaken her identity that night, but she didn’t stop things from going
further.
Skylar just looked at Helena and said, “These are things you should tell Natalie yourself. I can’t
you. As for what your relationship with Mr. Hughes truly is, I think we all convey them for know deep down.”
The more someone insisted that there was nothing between them, the more it seemed they were hiding something.
Today’s Helena seemed different from when they had met abroad–she clearly had something weighing on her mind.
Helena’s expression shifted slightly.
Afraid that Skylar might see through her, she forced a smile and said, “Maybe I’ll find the opportunity in the future.”
