Chapter 223
After his many long years of devoted service, Lockwell was a man Frank trusted above all others. If Lockwell himself said so, then it was a matter of fact.
It seemed that the situation at Hughes Corporation had indeed become dire.
Willow Nason had to be removed.
"Lockwell, contact the Human Resources Department, and instruct them to terminate Willow Nason's employment immediately, by my order." Frank's intention was to bypass Jasper's authority, in order to get rid of Willow directly.
"But, what about your grandson...?" Lockwell was afraid this might be seen as an act of defiance against Jasper.
Frank fell silent for a long moment, remembering the phone call he'd just received from Jasper.
...The warning he'd just received from Jasper.
If he found out that Frank had pulled strings behind his back like this... it wouldn't go well.
But then, he had a brilliant idea: "Just don't tell Jasper about it. If he asks about Willow's absence, tell him she resigned on her own, claiming that she'd found better prospects."
Soon, Lockwell found Willow's employment contract, and read aloud the contents to Frank.
Frank issued further instructions: "Offer Ms Nason severance pay amounting to a hundred thousand dollars. I'll pay for it with my own money, along with a further two hundred thousand dollars to the company, to help offset losses during the transition period."
Three hundred thousand dollars was not too much to pay, if it meant ejecting Willow from the company.
If it meant freeing Jasper from her vile influence, and cleansing the stain of her corruption from the family legacy... then no, it wasn't too much to pay at all. Without further hesitation, Lockwell set about carrying out his instructions. Willow sat in her office, half-heartedly scanning through Jasper's itinerary.
Had she said it clearly enough? Perhaps the scandal still needed more time to spread further? Why hadn't anything happened yet?
Just as she was thinking this, her handphone rang.
She picked up. It was the Director of Human Resources:
"Ms Willow Nason, pack up your things and leave the building immediately. Your presence is no longer required here."
She did it! She'd really gotten herself fired!
Just as planned.
"Isn't there severance pay for my position?"
"One hundred thousand dollars has already been transferred to your
account. Feel free to verify." Without
waiting for her reply, the call out
ended.
Frantically, Willow opened up her mobile banking app...
...And there it was! One hundred thousand dollars!
Ahh... sweet, sweet money.
With this, she would finally be free of Jasper's techerous clutches, no longer held prisoner with this farce of a job. She'd no longer have to worry about him discovering the children.
Liberty... how lovely and precious a thing!
However, her joy was also ever so slightly dampened by a tinge of disappointment.....
From what she understood of Jasper's character, she'd been expecting two possible outcomes to this gambit:
Announcing her intention to become Mrs Hughes... that had been meant to force his hand.
If Jasper genuinely meant to take responsibility for what he'd done to her, he'd marry her.
On the other hand, if his only interest was in having some fun with her delicious young body... then he'd be enraged, and fire her.
So it was the second one, huh...?
She'd been fired. That confirmed her
suspicions: Jasper had never truly
intended to marry her. She'd only been a plaything, nothing more. noveldrama
