My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus)

Chapter 1128

These days while Maximus and Diana were away from home, a few things were shifting-one of them was Laura. She watched, though cautiously, how Adrian came by every afternoon after work to visit Adele.

Before the sun went down, Adrian would take a walk with his daughter, who was already walking and had grown to love it.

Adrian might've been exhausted, but the afternoons belonged to his daughter. By the end of it, this man in an elegant suit would end up with messy hair, a wrinkled suit, his shirt untucked or stained with dirt and grass.

If Laura looked closely, the man in front of her was no longer a boy. He was someone who had slowly matured and was stepping up to take responsibility for his daughter.

Laura didn't need child support; still, he gave her a large part of his salary. He wanted to show Laura that he was a man of his word, and he could absolutely take care of his daughter.

Little by little, that had started to break down the walls she'd built around herself.

Every time Adrian came to the house, Laura gave him space to be with his daughter. She kept herself busy while he played with her. Later, they'd both come inside, and he'd help bathe her and get her into pajamas. That's when Adrian would leave the Evans mansion.

He always promised to come back the next day. It was unbelievable, but Adele couldn't settle down anymore unless she saw her dad. The same went for Laura, though it was hard for her to admit.

That day, Laura decided she needed to talk to him. Things needed to shift a little; they couldn't go on like this. So she followed the usual routine, and after Adrian laid their daughter in her crib, Laura waited outside Adele's room.

"Adrian, can we talk?" Laura asked, a little nervous.

"Yeah, of course! What's going on?"

"Let's go to the garden..."

Adrian thought Laura seemed different. He knew she still had her reservations, and though they'd had a few close moments, she usually kept her distance.

When the two of them got to the garden, they sat on a bench facing a little koi pond.

"Is something wrong? Did I do something to upset you?" Adrian asked nervously.

Laura listened and smiled.

"No, you didn't do anything wrong... on the contrary, you've done everything wonderfully. Really, I'm impressed. I know you've committed yourself to your daughter, and I'm glad for that."

"Laura, I meant it when I told you I wanted to be part of my daughter's life, and..." Adrian trailed off.

"And?"noveldrama

"And yours, Laura. But I also know

what I did to you isn't easy to forgive, and believe me, I get it. I accept your distance, and I don't want to force anything. For now, I'm happy just to have you let me see my daughter.

"You have no idea how much it means to me to share these moments you've allowed me to have with her. I never imagined what it really meant to bring a life into this world.

"Laura, I know what I want-and what I want is you and our daughter," Adrian said, looking her straight in the eyes.

Laura looked at him and felt herself getting lost in his beautiful eyes, in his handsome face—just like when she was a naïve, immature girl.

"Adrian, it hasn't been easy for either of us. It's been hard-really hard-for me to accept that now you're here with Adele, that you roll around in the grass with her, that nothing else matters to you but spending your free time with her."

"Laura, she's my daughter, and I've grabbed this chance you gave me with both hands. But... what about you and me?" Adrian said, trying to get closer to her. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, do you think there's a

chance someday I could be with you the way I'm with Adele? Do you think someday you could forgive me? want to build a life by your side want both of you close to me I'm working on becoming the best version of myself just to be with you two. I have my daughter, but I'm still missing you..."
