Chapter 10
Neil makes me give him Mia. He
kes her into the pyramid and the door slams shut behind him. I immediately feel a pit in my stomach. Somehow, I’ve grown attached to this baby despite only being near it for a few hours, I’m protective of her and it hurts me to know that she’s gone.
As soon as the door closes, Archer is on me like a hawk. He grabs my wrist and wrenches me towards him. We’re chest to chest again. He looms over me, almost a foot taller than me. His eyes are licked with fire. I try and pull away but his grip on me is iron.
“I need you to know,” he says, low and taunting. It’s terrifying. It’s a threat. “I don’t agree with this fucking idiotic idea. I will be watching you. Your every move. And I’ll be waiting for you to fuck something up. Then, I’ll step in and ruin
you.”
He annunciates the last word so sharply that I feel it in my toes. Despite the menacing look he’s giving me, the feeling of our chests against another is oddly intimate. I take a shallow breath and feel it hit his lips and bounce back at me. His own lips part and his eyebrows furrow, I take the opportunity to wrench myself out of his grasp
I stumble backwards slightly and rub at my wrist. Archer lets out a low growl. At that point, Neil has returned and is eyeing us. He gives Archer a weird look before addressing me.
“Let’s get your stuff,” he says.
We walk back over to the Cave. The second appearance of the Hayes brothers in the Cave sends the Untouchables into a frenzy. They all drop what they’re doing and crowd around the brothers. Each of them dips the Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
heads towards the floor. It’s oddly cult–like and sends a wave of disgust over my body. I stand behind the Hayes with Wyatt, arms crossed over my chest in defiance.
“I know you’ve all been here for varying degrees of time,” Archer says. His tone is different than any of the ways he’s spoken to me. It’s the voice of an alpha. He paces back across the Cave in front of the Untouchables.
“For varying reasons, of course. But all because you’d made the unforgivable offense of disrespecting my brothers or 1. Archer goes on. “However, we’ve been asked to spare you. We’ve been asked to be kind to people who were not kind
to us.”
I resist the urge to snort. I think of FA rejecting Archer. Yes, cause being uninterested in dating a man is “not kind.” Archer’s still pacing across the floor. He stops and looks at the group. “We’re releasing you early.”
There’s a collective gasp from the Untouchables. I can feel each of them on edge. I know they’re waiting for him to pick out the ones lucky enough to be let out early. Pride swells in my chest when I realize, I’ve done this. I’ve set them
all free.
“All of you,” Archer says.
There’s another collective gasp then a plethora of cheers. Some of them begin to cry. Some get down on their knees and try to kiss Archer’s shoes. He lets them. Once again, I’m disgusted. I clearly am showing it on my face when Beau turns around and starts to walk out the entrance to the Cave. He laughs and pats me on my shoulder.
“Better not fuck this one up, Princess,” he says. “You’ve got a whole group of people you made promises to.”
“I won’t,” I swipe his hand off me. “I’ll follow the contract as well as you do.”
Neil walks past me next. “Get your things and meet us outside.”
Steven shuffles past me without a word. Archer follows after him, smug smirk on his face. He watches me the entire time and licks the front of his teeth as he passes me. I can’t help but think of how much I hate him.
As soon as they’re all gone. I look up and see FA lunging at me. She brings me into a hug and squeezes me. Her laughter echoes in my ears. I can’t help but laugh with her.
“What’s that for?” I ask.
“I don’t know what you did,” she says. “But it can’t be a coincidence that the Hayes leave here with you and next time they come back. Archer lets us know we’ve been freed. Tell me you did that!”
I shrug. “Thad a hand in it.”
FA squeals. I see Peacey and a man I haven’t met before come up behind her. He’s scrawny with thick rimmed glasses. He waves at me. Peacey scoffs in disbelief, hands on her hips,
“Well done, Savage.” she says. “I knew you were a force to be reckoned with.”
Thanks Peacey,” I say. “Er I guess I can use your real names now right?”
FA squeals again. “Debbie!”
“I’m Anna,” Peacey says. She jabs a thumb behind her at the scrawny kid. “This is Timothy. Formerly Girlboy.”
“I don’t even wanna know,” I say, thinking of the horrors that would result in such a name.
“Better you didn’t,” Timothy says, cheeks pinking.
I shake my head and smile at them. “But I’m glad you’re all happy.”
“Ecstatic!” FA–Debbie says. “I finally get to live in a Moonriver dorm. Ooh, I hope my rooms is in Heston House!”
“One can dream, Peacey–Anna says with a chuckle.
Myself, Anna, Debbie and Timothy start to pack up our things. Luckily for me, my suitcase never really became fully unpacked. I shoved my greyed clothing back into it and hoist it up into my arms. The wheels being busted mean I’m lugging this thing back across campus to the pyramid.
I’m the first one to leave the Cave. Archer is waiting for me out front. He notices me struggling with my suitcase.
“Let me
I stare at him for a second. I’m shocked by the offer and wonder what I’ve done to deserve such a thing. I put my suitcase into his arm, ignoring the little spark of electricity I felt when our skin touched. Archer holds it like it’s nothing. I’m still marveling at his strength when he takes me suitcase and chucks it into the nearest dumpster.
“What the fuck!” I screech.
He’s brushing his hands on the sides of his pants when he looks back to me. “What? You can’t possibly think I’d let you bring this load of shit into my house. Did you?”
I scowl at him. I bite my tongue to keep from lashing out. I really, really wish I could punch the stupid smirk off his face. Archer takes out his phone when it pings. He sighs and shoves it back in his pocket.
“You’re due at the student infirmary in ten,” he says. “Better get going.”
“Infirmary?” I question. “I’m fine.”
“You don’t look fine,” Archer says. His eyes rake over me. “You look like a mess. I want every hair on your head checked for diseases. Plus, as a daughter of a whore, who knows what sort of sexually transmitted diseases you have.”

I stare at him with a slaw jaw. He cannot possibly be serious. He gives me one more look before he walks off, back to the pyramid. The gall of this man is unimaginable,
“Sexually transmitted diseases are transmitted by sex!” I yell after him. “I’m not having sex with a baby!”
Archer turns and shrugs at me. “I wouldn’t put it past you to try,” he calls back.
I flip him the middle finger. He smirks at me before taking off in a sprint. I watch as his skin fades away into a rippling brown fur. The wolf sprints across campus and into the dark.
