Quinn:

My morning work out session had almost come to an end when the now-familiar footsteps thudded

loudly in the basement, announcing her arrival. Without seeing who it was, I was sure it was the woman

already.

My state of idleness had enabled me to recognize the distinct sounds of her footsteps. Completing my

last rounds of push-ups, I stood to my feet, awaiting her arrival.

As she'd informed me earlier on, she'd been the one delivering my food for the last week. The food, I'd

never touched it but the water, I couldn't ignore. If I was going to survive without food, I needed the

water to keep me alive.

Dying from dehydration wasn't on my list.

She strode towards me with a wide smile etched on her face, showcasing her dimples and a paper bag

in hand. I couldn't decipher the reason for her smile but I'd already judged it to be bad.

On getting closer to my cell, her eyes that were on my face drifted to my shirtless torso, eyeing my

sweaty body. I watched her throat bubbled as she gulped. Her steps faltered, eyes never leaving my

naked chest.

She was checking me out.

And yet, she claims to be a nun. I mentally asserted.

"Aren't you sinning by ogling me in such a manner?". I asked when she continued staring at my

shirtless torso.

Her eyes immediately moved to my face as she tried to cover her embarrassment with a smirk but her

pale skin gave it away. Her cheeks turned a bright shade of pink that gradually spread over her face.

"Appreciating the Lord's creation isn't a sin". She finally spoke, smiling coyly.

"Of course. Ogling a man shouldn't be considered as a sin by you since this…". I waved a hand at her

attire. "Is just an act".

"You know, I shouldn't care so much about the assumptions of a mere prisoner but I do".

Moving forward, she took out the food container from the paper bag, along with two spoons. She

placed the container on the floor close to the bars and placed the two spoons on top.

While she did all this, I watched her intently. Her intentions were clear to me but still, I let her continue.

She also dropped a single bottle of water. Next, she took out a neatly folded cloth from the paper bag.

Spreading the cloth close to the bars, she sat on it, crossing her legs.

"Henceforth, we'll be sharing the food". She stamped her words with a smile.

"Is this your new plan of getting me to trust you so you could get on with your original plan later on?". I

asked, folding my arms across my torso. I didn't miss the way her eyes drank in the sight of my bulging

biceps.

"As I said before, I shouldn't care but I do". When I remained silent, she continued. "But, as much as I'd

love to see where your assumptions lead you, I'm not heartless enough to watch you die from

malnutrition". Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Her act of kindness earned her a smirk with a nod of my head.

"Your attitude is almost refined". I complimented in a tone dripping with amusement.

Paying no attention to me, she dipped her hand into the pockets of her uniform and brought out a

phone.

"So, I did a little research on you. Fellow nuns that work here have managed to gather up information

about your identity". She gestured toward me. "From what I gathered from them and google, you were

part of the armed forces early this year and your full name is Quinn Santiago". Her eyes zeroed in on

me to see my reaction but I gave her none.

If she was trying to prove her innocence, she'd failed even before she started. I expected her to at least

act smarter.

"And the fact that no one seems to know how you landed here in his cell, prompted me to ask of the

Gonzalez you think I'm working for".

She switched on the phone and handed it to me.

"I found these pictures after I was told he is a general in the armed forces. I wanted to confirm he was

the one you talked about". Her hand was still pointed out, holding her phone.

"Is this what's on your script for today?". I asked, ignoring her outstretched hand.

"If you still think I'm acting, then yes". She replied nonchalantly.

Placing the phone at the edge of the cloth where I can reach for it, she took the food container and

opened it. She served a spoonful of the food, raising it to her pale pink lips. I watched as her plump lips

covered the spoon before she released it. The sight alone was enticing.

The woman would make a better living as a seductress than as an actress.

She chewed on the food delicately before swallowing it. Next, she unscrewed the cork of the bottle of

water and took a sip from it. Setting the food back on the ground, she looked up at me.

"Care to join me?". She arched a perfectly shaped brow.

I let my gaze rest on her for a while before taking my seat on the sigil covered floor, close to the cell

bars.

If this was her new game to get me to trust her, then I was going to take the bait for as long as she'd

continue to eat with me.

We ate in silence while she fought fiercely between keeping her gaze solely on my face and not on my

naked torso. More than half of the time, my torso won.

As soon as we were done eating, she got up from the cloth and folded it neatly before placing it into the

paper bag. The empty food container and bottle also went in.

"I know you still don't believe me but at least I got you to eat". She smiled.

"Gonzalez will be happier to hear of your success".

"That would have been nice. But Sadly, I've had no contact with the General".

"Sure". I nodded my head.

Once again, he eyes strayed to my chest and I added;

"Next time, I'll make sure to present myself just the way you like it".

Her eyes snapped to mine at my sarcastic words.

"You've got it, baby". She winked at me before leaving.

I was left to wonder what Gonzalez was thinking, hiring someone like her to take on a serious job.
