No Way Back

No Way Back By Anna Mac Chapter 398

Chapter 398

Jane’s words were so harsh as she treated the matter with much indifference.

Jack’s heart almost stopped beating.

He was overwhelmed by sadness and did not know what to do.

He could only clench his fists tightly and lower his head. He was not able to refute Jane and could only accept that Jane had suppressed her emotions for many years.

His nails dug into the flesh of his palm. Blood was flowing from his hands.

He was in so much pain that he did not feel the pain in his palms.

The physical pain could not be compared to the torment in his heart.

Jane was night.

Back then, Jack thought that Jane would not be able to survive after she severed ties with the Fowler family. He thought that she was playing hardball. She wanted to make Jack humble himself and beg her to go back to the Fowler family, He thought she would take the opportunity to declare her rights over him.

Jack told Jane that she was daydreaming and would never give in to her. Even if Jane left the Fowler family, Jack still had Madelyn for a daughter. That was enough for him. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Jack said that if Jane did not cause trouble and stayed with the family, she might be able to inherit something from the Fowler family on account of her relationship with Jack. With that sum of money, she would not have to worry for the rest of her life. However, if Jane remained defiant, he vowed not to give

her anything, including her status as the daughter of the Fowler family. She had to fend for herself going forward.

Jack thought that he was magnanimous and kind enough as a father. What Jane did was an insult to Jack, yet he was still willing to provide for Jane financially. The inheritance was something everyone would covet. However, Jane did not care for it.

When Jane returned to the Fowler family, she hid her identity and did not expose her true abilities. She did not do it for money, glory, or status. Instead, It was because they were Jane’s parents and brothers. They were her blood family, her closest kin.

It was Jack who had misunderstood Jane. He had hurt her in the first place. Anna had left the Fowler family, feeling disheartened. Jack promised to clear Jane’s name, but he trusted Madelyn instead. He did not realize that he had done wrong. He had humiliated Jane in every way possible.

If Jane had not revealed her true ability and impressed Jack, he would never understand Jane’s intentions all along. He never showed any concern for Jane.

Jack should have known the harsh fact long ago.

No, Jack realized it, but for the sake of his pride, he chose to ignore the truth.

He did not want to admit that he was in the wrong. Now that Jane had told the truth directly, the last bit of his pride was shattered.

Jack was exactly as Jane had said. He was a selfish and cold-blooded monster.

Jack was speechless.

He was not fit to be Jane’s father.

Kinship had made Jane disappointed and devastated. She used to harbor so much hope for her family.

Furthermore, Jack had never given Jane anything.

He had given Jane a life, but he had never fulfilled his duties or responsibilities as a father.

Jane had crushed Jack’s pride in front of Omar and Micheal.

He was deeply humiliated by Jane.

Jane saw how quiet Jack was. He cowered in ****, not daring to say or do anything.

Jack looked like a completely different person to Omar and Micheal.

Was this the Jack Fowler they remembered? Was he the man who braved all dangers to venture to all parts of the world? Back then, he would courageously put his life at stake for the sake of his business.

Omar and Micheal had admired Jack since then. They had never lost their respect for him all these years.

Yet now, Jack looked so pitiful.

He did not dare to look his biological daughter in the eye.

He looked so defeated

Jane turned around and left.

This time, no one dared to stop her.

However, someone was observing this in secret. He saw everything.

His lips curled into a conniving smile.

That person had come to look for Micheal and chanced upon the group unexpectedly.

Besides, this matter involved Jane.

He mused, “This is going to be interesting”

The man thought for a***** and quietly followed the direction where Jane had left.

Jack stood there for a long time without moving.

If it were not for his chest heaving up and down, Omar and Michael would have thought that Jack was dead.

Sighing. Omar walked up to Jack and patted his shoulder. He said remorsefully. “Jack, I’m sorry. If it weren’t for me…”

“This has nothing to do with you, Omar. It’s my fault. I’ve sinned. Jane scolded me so hard that she woke me up completely, but I’m still in pain. Why was I such a *******back then? How can there be a father like me?

“Jane thought that I was blinded by my own interests and only felt quilty when I saw what an outstanding person she had turned out to be. She was right to scold me. If Jane didn’t achieve so much today, I might not have repented, let alone remembered that I had such a daughter. “Maybe someone like me doesn’t deserve to have children at all. I’ll only love them when they do me proud. If they are a *****to me, I don’t care about them. Why does a cold blooded father like me exist?”

As Jack spoke, he could not help but laugh. His laughter grew louder until he finally sobbed and coughed.

He raised his head and took a few deep breaths to prevent his already swollen eyes from tearing with tears. He did not want to embarrass himself in front of his friends.

Omar did not know how to comfort Jack

He had known Jack for so long. This was the first time Omar had seen Jack so emotional. Omar had never seen him cry.

Honestly speaking, everyone was already at the age where they knew what their destiny was. If it were not for what happened to Henry and Jane, Jack would have already retired. He would be traveling with Anna, enjoying life.

After going through so much, some people had long become immune to pain.

The best way to destroy someone was to use kinship.

At this ******, Micheal walked forward. “I’m not trying to censure you, Jack. I can tell that you’re really sincere about Jane. Things have come. to this stage. There’s nothing you can do now. If you had known about this earlier, you wouldn’t have done what you did in the first place. I’m afraid you’ve hurt Jane too much.”

“Yes, if I had known this would happen, I wouldn’t have done what I did. No wonder so many people tried to lose their memories. I want to go back in time and return to the time when Jane had just returned to the Fowler family. I want to wake that ***and complacent self up.

“Omar, Michael, please. I’m in a bad mood right now. Drink with me. Let’s drink again.”

Jack felt so guilty that he was going crazy.

Perhaps it was better to go crazy. If he was crazy, he would not have to suffer the pain of losing his daughter and regret what he did in the past. Sometimes, being alive and sober was a mistake. He

could not escape from it all.
