Chapter 70
"I'm sorry. It's just that I don't have any work experience, and they said they had experienced it themselves too, so I..." Kourtney shook her head, her eyes quickly turning red. She must have believed her team members' words.
"You're just too kind. If you encounter such things in the future, tell me right away. They're getting paid by the company, yet they dumped all their tasks on you. How is that fair?"
Kourtney nodded. I recalled the conversation between Lindsey and Mira. Both of them had different perspectives, so their opinions differed too.noveldrama
When I was handling these matters, I only had one thought in my mind I didn't want Kourtney to be bullied. It didn't matter who it was and what that person did.
As expected, the manager of the marketing department came the next day. Many people knew that I was the new general manager, but none of the executives had done anything yet. Many of them hadn't come to see me.
So, this was the first time I was meeting the manager of the marketing department. He kept his head down, and his attitude was humble.
"About yesterday, I didn't manage my team well and caused trouble for you."
When I came to work today, Lindsey reminded me that a few managers might come over today and that I should take notice of it. She also told me how to deal with them in detail. The manager of the marketing department was the first person she specifically pointed out.
"You're a manager, after all. There are more important tasks for you to handle, so it's understandable if some oversight occurred," I responded indifferently.
The manager of the marketing department initially thought I would let him off the hook with that excuse, but he was caught off guard by what I said.
"Mr. Ranford, you're right. It's my oversight. So, how do you plan to punish me?"
I was surprised. Lindsey really did have these people figured out. Every word the manager said was exactly as she had predicted.
"You're a core member of this company. Why would I punish you because of such a minor matter? I've already dealt with everyone involved yesterday. So, this matter is closed."
Upon hearing that, the manager was relieved and flattered. "You hold me in such high regard. How could I possibly repay that..."
I smiled while holding the manager's hand. "The best way you can repay me is by keeping up the good work for the company. But there's something I can't figure out. Could you please explain it to me?"
I looked at Lindsey and Mira, hinting at them to leave. Then, I was left in the office with the manager. He seemed to have sensed what I was going to say, so his expression became strange as he looked at me.
"As I'm new, I don't have a lot of power in the company. To be honest, you're the first executive to see me. As long as I'm here, I'll remember your actions today."
After all, the manager had been working here for more than 20 years. He was already an
experienced employee. Although he was slightly moved by my words, he didn't take them to heart. He was considering accepting my offer because there was still Jason to consider.
"As you know, my father only has me as his son. Now that he's getting older, he has decided to pass down the company to me. In the future, I'll definitely form my own circle. But for now the person I value the most is
you."
My words snapped the manager out of his hesitation immediately, and he broke into a flattering smile. "Mr Ranford, you're too kind. Serving the company is my duty. Being trusted by you is the greatest honor of all!"
"I'm glad you understand."
"I patted the manager on his shoulder and took the opportunity to ask a few questions.
What do you think?
