Not Your Doormat Anymore

Chapter 74

This deal was supposed to be Andrew's stepping stone. Once he succeeded in getting this deal, he would secure his new position. So, he came fully prepared, bringing not just sincerity but ambition as well.

After all, he was offering a huge sum to an old man. The latter should have been thrilled. Why would he refuse the offer?

While the idea was great in theory, reality had other plans. Even after Andrew increased the offer from a hundred thousand dollars to 700 thousand dollars, the elderly man still wouldn't budge. Not only that, but the elderly man wanted to kick them out too. How could there be such a person?

"Don't be so full of yourself."

I glanced coldly at Casey. When I saw the state Andrew was in, I chuckled. "It seems that your negotiation isn't going well! What a coincidence. I'm also here to discuss the partnership."

I looked at the elderly man and was surprised. The elderly man, who was said to have a strange temperament and had bad mood swings, happened to be a patient I had saved before.

That time, I had given up on saving Dr. Crowell's father-in-law to save the elderly man. That was why Dr. Crowell had a conflict with me, and it would also explain everything that happened after that.

I couldn't blame the elderly man even though he was considered the reason for everything. Since it had been a long time, I had a strange sense of déjà vu upon seeing him.

When the elderly man saw me, he was surprised and delighted. "Dr. Ranford, what brings you here?"

"Dr. Ranford? He has already been suspended by the hospital. He's no longer a doctor." Clearly, Andrew had been keeping tabs on me. Upon hearing that, he let out a chuckle and ruthlessly made me look bad.

The elderly man became anxious. "What happened? Dr. Ranford, you're such a good doctor. Why did the hospital suspend you?"

"Good? Did you know he killed a patient and the patient's family beat him up? The hospital thought that he wasn't good for the hospital's reputation, so they suspended him." Andrew sneered, speaking so confidently like he had all the facts.

Even after hearing that, I was calm. "I didn't kill the patient. Stop spreading lies."

"Life and death are part of being human. I believe that such a good doctor like Dr. Ranford wouldn't do such a thing. There must be more to it!"

As the elderly man had almost passed away before I saved him back then, he trusted me a lot. After all, it weren't for me, he would have been long gone.

"Why do you keep speaking up for him?" Andrew frowned, but Casey pulled him.

"Sir, I'm his fiancée. About our partnership..."

"So, you're Dr Ranford's fiancée.

Why didn't yout tell me earlier?" The

elderly man was startled upon hearing the news. "If you had told me earlier, I wouldn't have rejected you. How about this? I'll sign the contract right now!"

"Hold on." Andrew and Casey were elated as they helped the elderly ve man walk into his house, but I

stopped them. "Who allowed you to deceive people by claiming you're my fiancée?"

Casey pushed the elderly man into the house and jogged toward me upon hearing that. "But I am your fiancée. We used to—"

"I've already broken up with you. Casey, how many times do I need to repeat this?"

"What's going on?"noveldrama

Because we were saying different things, the elderly man was confused.

"She used to be my fiancée, but she cheated on me with this man. So, I broke up with her."

Andrew's expression was ghastly, and Casey was even more displeased. "Can you stop calling it cheating?"

"Why are you stopping me from saying what you did?"

I hinted at Kourtney with my gaze, and she quickly stepped forward. "We're also here to discuss the partnership. Sir, here's our proposal."
