Chapter 18- Artemis
My hand slipped into his, once in he locked in and yanked me to my feet and tucked me under his arm.
‘Is anyone even following me?’
‘Of course.’
‘Oh yeah? Who?’
‘Dark angels.’
I stopped but he hauled me along.
‘Why would they be after me?’
He lifted a shoulder, ‘You tell me.’Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
‘Daylen!’ I looked behind me and suddenly dozens of eyes fixed on me.
‘They won’t hurt you.’ He said, his grip around my shoulders tightening.
‘I came with Stella-‘
‘I’m starting to believe she isn’t really your friend.’
‘Why would you say that?’
A man slipped from the bar and slithered behind us.
I gripped Daylen’s arm tighter, he looked over my head and pulled me in front of him.
‘Because she’s always nowhere to be seen. Why are you here anyway?’
‘I-‘ I couldn’t finish my sentence two men lingered behind us.
‘Daylen, we have company.’
‘I know. I can only open the portal outside.’ He murmured.
We were on the second floor and a flash of red eyes glared at us our way out. Daylen’s pace quickened so did our company’s. The door was in sight, but a girl with blonde hair and red eyes jumped in front of it. That was the queue for the rest of the gang to join in.
Daylen raised his hand and the girl flew into the crowd. I kicked the door open. He thrust me out first the pack of angry dark angels burst through the door. Daylen hurled a ball of light at them and the club filled with screams.
He returned to my side and the portal opened for us.

‘I thought they were going to get us,’ I laughed as I stumbled into the apartment.
Daylen grinned, ‘Their mistake. We do a lot of damage together I think we can be a great team as well.’
He cupped my cheeks. His words had me dreaming of what we could be, yet I remembered he told me to leave.
‘I guess-‘
He captured my mouth again. This time when I parted my lips his tongue slid inside. I stumbled backward Daylen’s grip on my waist was the only thing keeping me from falling.
‘I need you.’ He said against my lips.
I wanted him too, but I couldn’t get the words to form. Daylen turned me around so he was the one walking backward. He kicked the bedroom door open. My heart rate spiked and I pulled back. His dimly lit bedroom came into view. Daylen threw himself on the bed taking me with him. He wrapped my legs around his waist, the bulge in his pants pushed into my vagina. I gasped. Our mouths mingled again. It was when his hands slipped under my jersey and hit flesh did I pull back.
‘Wait Daylen.’
I sat up. I brushed my hair back and looked anywhere but at him. His hands never left my skin, the mere thought of them made goose bumps scatter across my skin.
‘What’s the matter?’ He whispered.
I noticed for the first time he wasn’t wearing his glasses. I cupped my cheeks unable to speak. He grinned and pulled my jersey over my head. He tossed the pink jersey across the room. I bit my lip. Daylen’s eyes were fixed on my black bra then they went up to my face.
‘You’re so beautiful.’ He brushed my curls behind my shoulder.
I shivered and hugged myself. Daylen grunted as he pulled himself up. His hands landed above my butt.
‘Alright, tell me what’s wrong.’
‘I’m just nervous.’
‘Do I make you nervous?’ He traced kisses along my neck. I shut my eyes and shivered.
‘The situation makes me nervous.’
The corner of his mouth lifted. I was conscious of his hand lingering by my bra hook.
‘Why?’
‘I’ve never done this before.’
His brows burrowed and his hand left my back. He leaned back on the pillow.
‘What is that supposed to mean?’
‘Do I have to spell it out? I’m a virgin.’
Silence. We blinked at each other for a few seconds before Daylen burst into laughter. I frowned.
‘What’s so funny?’
‘You must be kidding. ‘
‘I’m not.’ I crossed my arms over my chest.
‘I don’t believe that. How can a goddess like you go untouched?’
My blood froze over. How did he know? I swallowed.
‘A… a what?’
He sat up again. He placed kisses on my shoulders.
‘Goddesses are some of the most beautiful creatures. You’re just as beautiful as one.’ His lips pressed against my cheek and I blushed. It felt like the purest gesture.
‘Have you ever been with one?’
He groaned, ‘I don’t want to get myself killed.’
‘What does that mean?’
‘Any goddess would be a daughter of Zeus and Zeus is extremely over protective of his daughters. Only a man engaged to his daughters would be allowed to touch her and such a man has to be worthy in his eyes. Anyone else would be struck by lightning.’
I chuckled and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. My Dad my real Dad. He wouldn’t like this. I hadn’t thought about the day when I was finally reunited with him with my entire family.
Daylen sighed, ‘Do you want to?’
‘I… I’m scared.’
‘I won’t hurt you I promise, but it will hurt a little.’
I nodded. My judgment was clouded with lust. How long would Daylen be around for? I saw myself today that he went to random places to sleep with beautiful strange women. Still I let him lay me on my back and unclip my bra.
‘You’re gorgeous.’
He traced kisses down my stomach until he came to band of my leggings. He lingered there waiting for me to stop him. I bit my lip, he pulled down my leggings. My breathing quickened, this wasn’t how I imagined it to happen. I wanted roses on the bed, nice underwear and chocolate.
There was nothing left on me but a white lacy underwear. Daylen toyed with the fabric of my underwear.
‘Very nice.’
I gasped when his fingers discovered the wetness and slipped under the fabric. His eyes met mine only seriousness found in them. Daylen caressed my bud, I felt myself get wetter. At any moment my panty would be drenched. Daylen picked up his pace. I cupped my mouth and moaned. I parted my legs to give him better access.
I’d lost all my senses. Regret was a story to be concerned about another day. Daylen played outside my entrance. He bathed in the wetness.
‘What are you waiting for?’
He grinned. One finger slipped in and I gasped. Hammering sounded from the living room and I sprang up.
‘That doesn’t sound like friendly neighbours.’
Daylen’s finger remained in me unmoving. The hammering continued. He pulled out and I battled not to moan.
‘Stay here.’
‘What if you need me?’ I looked around for my leggings.
‘Artemis stay here. I’ll be fine.’
He marched out the room. I tiptoed to the hall and popped my head into the living room. Daylen opened the door and received a fist to the jaw. I cupped my mouth.
Daylen grabbed his jaw and backed into the room. A man in a dark leather suit marched into the room. He had broad shoulders. He stood at par with Daylen. The hostile man was older and built, he pushed Daylen back, shouting though Daylen didn’t fight back.
‘I warned you boy!’
‘You overreacted.’
‘Stay away from my wife.’
‘I work for her.’
The older man swung and collided with Daylen’s jaw. Daylen stumbled back, blood dripped from his nose.
‘You’ve got balls to be sleeping with the queen.’
My eyes widened. I looked back at the bedroom then my memory flashed to the nightclub. Daylen was more than capable.
‘I’m not. You’ve got it all wrong.’
‘Coward! At least confess to your crimes.’
‘Before you kill me?’
‘No.’ I whispered.
‘You’ve been a thorn in my side since the day you set foot in my castle.’
‘The Queen’s castle! You know you’re just a pawn. The only reason you’re there is for public satisfaction.’
The man’s nostrils flared once again he raised his fist Daylen ducked and landed his first punch to the man’s gut. He tumbled back and hit the door.
If this wasn’t the first time Daylen was attacked, then his neighbours must go through a lot.
‘I’ve had enough of you.’ The man spat.
He brought his hands to himself, an orb of light grew into a sparking ball. It burst forward sending Daylen crushing into his bar.
‘No!’ I cried.
I didn’t know what to do, but my body knew I had to save Daylen. My body heated I looked at the only window in the room. I called lighting from the clouds and no sooner an electrical snake shattered the window and struck the man’s shoulder.
I gasped. I didn’t think that would work.
The man dropped to one knee, clutching his shoulder. The fabric of his outfit was completely burned off. I looked at the bar where not even a whimper came. He hauled himself up and dragged his feet out of the house.
I raced to shut the door then to the bar. I saved him but I wasn’t promising that I wouldn’t kill him myself.
