Chapter 170: Something Happened
Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Something Happened
He always treated Song Xuan as his own little sister.
"I don’t know what you’ve been through during this time, but I hope you’ve matured a bit. Stop thinking everything in this world is black and white, and that if you want something, you can always make it happen."
She felt unwilling, but still nodded to indicate she understood.
The two of them packed up their belongings and returned to the villa together.
Gu Qixiao felt that something was bound to happen today, his mood restless.
Sure enough, as soon as he arrived home, Assistant Li called.
"President Gu, the Ji family just called to ask if Miss Ji is with you."
A deafening roar went off in his mind, as if something had exploded inside him.
"President Gu, are you still there?" Assistant Li, hearing no response for a long moment, thought perhaps he hadn’t been paying attention.
Gu Qixiao’s fingers trembled slightly. "Find her."
Even his voice was shaking.
After all, how could anyone remain calm after learning the person they cherish had gone missing?
Assistant Li was also conscious of the gravity of the situation. The most likely culprit for such an act was the Lin family.
When Gu Qixiao rushed to the Ji family’s house, Ji Yuanzhou was already frantic. "Wasn’t Yu supposed to be coming back with you? How come you’re here, but Yu hasn’t shown up?"
He glared viciously at Gu Qixiao, clearly at the peak of his anger.
Gu Qixiao didn’t even know what to say to explain the situation.
The Ji family parents were more composed, understanding that interrogating anyone at this moment wouldn’t achieve anything.
"Finding Yu is the priority."
With no leads on their end, they were relying entirely on Gu Qixiao.
"My men have always followed her closely. Logically, nothing should have happened, unless something unexpected occurred midway."
And still, he hadn’t received any response from his bodyguards yet.
"Start by searching near the police station. Yu usually takes a specific route home, so any clues should be there."
Gu Qixiao was certain this must have been orchestrated by the Lin family.
"I’ll head to the Lin family first."
He needed to confront them for answers.
Clearly, the Lin family had been waiting for him, knowing he would inevitably come looking.
"President Gu, is there something troubling you?"
Lin Chujian no longer appeared as disheveled as she had the day before. From the panicked look on his face, she could immediately tell he was worried about Ji Yu.
"Stop pretending. Return her to us now, and we can still talk this through reasonably. If you refuse, don’t blame me for what happens."
He hadn’t exercised his full power in a long time.
But if the Lin family pushed too far, this matter wouldn’t end peacefully.
"President Gu, aren’t you afraid that while you’re taking action, Ji Yu will already have turned into a pile of bones?"
She showed no fear of his threats and freely admitted that Ji Yu was indeed in their hands.
"And don’t assume this is such a simple matter. To our family, the patriarch’s health is more important than anything. Besides, this isn’t as serious as you think it is."
What could have been resolved through cooperation now required forceful measures, leaving her feeling helpless.
"Once the surgery is over, naturally you’ll see your beloved. Just don’t be surprised if by then certain ’unexpected events’ occur."
Veins bulged at Gu Qixiao’s temple, visibly showing his fury.
"If you don’t release her today, there will be no future for the Lin family."
As he uttered those words, his tone carried an unmistakable threat.
Lin Chujian had never seen him like this before.
"Gu Qixiao, so you can become this crazy for one person? I thought you were always so cold, distant, and indifferent."
She remained unfazed by his menace.
"While you’re wasting time talking to me here, Ji Yu might already have been wheeled onto the operating table."
Gu Qixiao suddenly seized her neck in a tight grip.
"Do you think I won’t actually kill you?"
Her expression dimmed. "Why would I ever think you don’t have the guts to kill? With your infamous reputation, how could I forget who you really are?"
Gu Qixiao, known for his decisive and ruthless actions, couldn’t possibly let this go.
"Release her now, or there will be consequences for the Lin family."
"Don’t blame me. Honestly, I don’t even know where she is." Her eyes glinted with a vengeful satisfaction.
Evidently, she believed this would be the best way to hurt Gu Qixiao.
Gu Qixiao’s face contorted with hostility.
Lin Wenyan arrived and was taken aback by the scene.
"What’s going on here? I know where Ji Yu is. Come with me."
He hadn’t expected Gu Qixiao to be this furious, showing such a murderous intensity.
"You better be telling the truth." At this point, he didn’t care who the person was; as long as they were connected to the Lin family, they were his enemy.
Lin Wenyan sighed with helplessness, understanding anyone would react this way given the circumstances.
"I’m telling the truth. I also understand your desperation. When she was brought over, she was already unconscious. She should be in the patriarch’s hospital room now."
In fact, Ji Yu had already woken up.
Looking at her surroundings, she quickly understood where she was.
Old Master Lin’s murky eyes suddenly gleamed with hope.
"See, I told you sooner or later you’d end up at my bedside."
He seemed extraordinarily smug about it.
"So what? Do you think I’d actually give you that chance?"
There are some things where one’s integrity outweighs survival.
"Look at yourself now. Even if you get the kidney transplant, there’s no guarantee you’ll survive. A body like yours is bound to experience severe rejection."
Some people refuse to accept their fate.
"Don’t you think living like this is pure torture?"
His body was covered in tubes, merely clinging to life.
"Nonsense!" Old Master Lin clearly cared deeply about this and refused to hear such curses.
"Ji Yu, how dare you talk like this when you’re at death’s door? Soon, both of your kidneys will be transplanted into me."
He had no intention of letting Ji Yu walk out alive.
Having invested so much effort, how could he allow her to leave so easily?
Ji Yu couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
"Honestly, you’re the most clueless patient I’ve ever seen. Transplanting both kidneys at once increases the risk of death." noveldrama
This was something the old man had likely never understood.
"Do you think kidnapping me means I have no way out? As long as I can resist, I’ll ensure you don’t succeed."
Looking at the elderly man, teetering on the brink of death, she couldn’t understand his obsession with clinging to life.
"A swift death wouldn’t necessarily be a bad experience."
At least when she grew old, she would never opt to endure such suffering.
"You wouldn’t understand. With so much wealth to my name, how can I die so easily?" he shouted hoarsely.
What do you think?
