Chapter 205
Chapter 205:
Without hesitation, Layla snapped at Sloane, “Mind your own business!”
Sloane’s face drained of color at the rebuke. Layla’s glare turned hard as she sneered. “She’s just a temptress, using petty tricks to snare Henrik. She won’t be basking in that glory for long. Henrik’s fiancée should never be her.”
Her words dripped with dissatisfaction and resentment, but they also hinted at something deeper: her disdain for Khloe and the quiet suggestion that someone else had their eye on the fiancée position, casting a shadow over Khloe’s status.
The revelation, however, delighted Sloane.noveldrama
It wasn’t long before they reached the living room.
The moment Khloe entered, her eyes landed on the elderly man dressed in a blue suit. Morris sat in his armchair, his posture impeccable, exuding a quiet yet undeniable authority.
Khloe could feel the tension thickening in the air, especially from Eric and the others who entered behind her. It was clear that Morris was a figure to be respected, if not feared.
Morris slowly lifted his gaze, locking eyes with Khloe. His stern expression softened instantly, as if a gentle breeze had swept over him. Slowly, he rose and approached Khloe, a gentle smile gracing his lips. His eyes shone with admiration as he took in her appearance, his gaze sweeping over her with warmth. “So, you must be Khloe. You are truly a remarkable young lady. Please, have a seat.”
Without a second thought, Morris personally pulled out the chair beside him, refusing to let the servants do it. The gesture left everyone momentarily stunned.
Morris had always been someone to be both revered and feared by the younger generation. Whether it was Eric or Layla, they were always cautious, holding their tongues in his presence.
There had been a time when Eric had misspoken during a family dinner. Morris had simply given him a cold, piercing glance that felt like a sharp blade, leaving Eric in a cold sweat and silent for the rest of the evening.
Even Layla, who liked to flaunt her connections with the Watson family, would become meek and well-behaved in front of Morris, knowing all too well that he would not hesitate to discipline the younger generation if the situation called for it.
So when Morris treated Khloe with such obvious affection, the shock among the group was palpable. Eric’s face reflected confusion and astonishment, while Layla’s jealousy grew, having never received such warmth before. For a moment, all eyes were fixed on Khloe. While surprised by Morris’s attention, Khloe accepted it with poise, knowing it would serve her well later.

After all, this was advantageous to her, setting the stage for her plans down the road.
“Thank you, Mr. Watson,” Khloe responded coolly.
“Call me Morris,” he replied warmly, his tone friendly and affectionate. “No need for formalities.”
Morris’ words landed like a bombshell, instantly stirring the emotions of everyone in the room. Eric’s face darkened with displeasure. He never imagined his grandfather would show such warmth to Khloe, even asking her to call him by name casually.
This was clear—Morris fully approved of Khloe becoming Henrik’s wife.
Eric could no longer hold his tongue. But, remembering the lesson he’d learned at Zhecrora University, he kept his thoughts to himself and instead shot Sloane a pointed look.
Sloane caught the look. She didn’t want to challenge Henrik, but her fear of losing Eric as her fiancé outweighed her hesitation to act on his unspoken command.
With the room silent, Sloane suddenly found her voice. “Mr. Watson, Khloe hasn’t known Henrik for very long, right? Isn’t it a bit too soon to consider her part of the family?”
The moment she spoke, the entire room seemed to freeze. All eyes turned toward her, and Morris’ previously warm expression hardened, his face turning serious.
