Chapter 698 - 687: Cracking the Code, A Successful Face-Slap
Chapter 698: Chapter 687: Cracking the Code, A Successful Face-Slap
Li Yunyun was so frightened she nearly couldn’t help but scream again, but then she suddenly remembered Qiao Jing, who had been constantly seeking attention.
She clenched her fists tightly, gritting her teeth desperately to hold back her scream, pretending not to be scared at all. However, her trembling body betrayed her.
Li Yunyun’s hands shakily touched the keypad lock, pretending to be fearless.
"Yunxiang, there must be clues in this room, otherwise how will we get out? We need to find something quickly, otherwise... otherwise that patient is going to come out!"
As time passed, the sounds of the patient pushing the cart and various other objects grew louder and more frequent, as if they were about to burst out at any moment.
Qiao Jing pursed her red lips and moved the flashlight back to the door again, and in a moment of daze, she seemed to see something.
After two seconds of silence, she noticed that there were a few words written in extremely faint red ink on the wall near them.
Li Yunyun, who was closest to the wall, seized the opportunity when Qiao Jing shone the flashlight past her and began to react.
"Qiao Jing, why are you shining the flashlight at me? Wait! Yunxiang, I saw it! There’s something on this wall!"
Meanwhile, behind them, staff members had already pushed aside several items, preparing to come out directly.
Seeing this, Li Yunyun’s face also turned a shade paler, but she did not retreat; instead, she squatted down next to the wall.
Then, she deliberately used her body to block the words above, preventing Qiao Jing from examining them.
"Yunxiang, let’s hurry up and solve this puzzle here; that person is about to come out!"
Zhou Yunxiang knew it was a clue and quickly crouched down, staring intently at the words with Li Yunyun.
But the red letters were crooked and twisted, and they didn’t resemble any number, Chinese character, or letter, making them impossible to interpret.
Li Yunyun stared for a long time but couldn’t make sense of it. The disturbances created by the NPC behind them grew louder, as if intentionally frightening them, reminding them that it was about to come out.
This made Li Yunyun even more nervous, so she quickly shook Zhou Yunxiang’s hand.
"Do you see anything? This password... could the password be..." noveldrama
She glanced at the keypad lock, bit her teeth, and walked over to try entering a few passwords at random, hoping to guess correctly.
But they all displayed "password incorrect."
Zhou Yunxiang also racked his brains for quite some time to no avail.
After Li Yunyun moved away, the words on the wall finally appeared clearly, allowing Qiao Jing to see them.
Qiao Jing’s gaze fell on the words, and she thoughtfully touched her chin, her brain working rapidly, coming up with several approaches.
In the end, after eliminating various guesses, she deduced the correct password.
She walked over to Li Yunyun’s side and began to enter the password.
Seeing this, Li Yunyun’s face showed a mocking smile as she crossed her arms and stood aside.
"Ha! You’re going to open it? You’re not just going to press a bunch of random keys, are you? If so, I’d really look down on you! You did nothing the whole way here, you can’t solve puzzles either. What use are you in the team? The passwords I entered were all carefully thought out by me, you—"
Before she could finish, the door was successfully unlocked by Qiao Jing.
Without even glancing at Li Yunyun, Qiao Jing walked right through.
Upon seeing the door open, Li Yunyun instantly froze, the mocking smile becoming stiff on her face, unable to utter a word.
Zhou Yunxiang never imagined that the door would be opened so quickly. He had been pondering what the crooked symbols could be when Qiao Jing simply unlocked the door.
And he was sure that Qiao Jing hadn’t just guessed the password by luck.
After all, guessing one digit right might be luck, but who can guess four digits correctly in a row?
Just as Qiao Jing opened the door, the NPC behind them finally pushed everything in front of them aside.
"Bang!" Various items fell to the ground.
Zhou Yunxiang immediately snapped back to reality, grabbed the stunned Li Yunyun and pulled her through the door. He quickly shut it behind them.
As the door closed, an NPC lunged towards it, frantically scraping the door with its nails, creating a grating "screech screech" sound.
"Yunyun, what were you thinking just standing there like an idiot?"
Only then did Li Yunyun come to her senses, blankly staring at Zhou Yunxiang for a good while before her eyes began to refocus. She shook her head.
"No... nothing..."
After saying this, she turned her gaze to Qiao Jing, who had already started looking for clues in the room.
She had been talking to herself for quite a while, complaining about how the other person did nothing along the way and didn’t solve any puzzles, but then Qiao Jing simply opened the door.
How could that be possible...? Those twisted and bent things didn’t appear to be anything significant, so how did Qiao Jing solve the puzzle?
Zhou Yunxiang, seeing the confusion on Li Yunyun’s face, was also very curious about how Qiao Jing had managed to open the door.
He looked at Qiao Jing and cautiously asked:
"Miss Qiao, what was the password for that door? How did you figure it out?"
Even though he had played many escape room games, he had been stumped by that particular challenge.
Who could tell him what those twisted and bent lines were expressing?
Qiao Jing paused in her search for clues and glanced at Zhou Yunxiang indifferently.
"Mirror cipher," she stated.
After dropping this comment, she continued searching for clues in the room.
The situation had been too urgent just before. If she hadn’t opened the door, the NPC behind them might have caught up.
She had no time to worry about the feel of the game; her priority was to get past the obstacle, so she directly opened the coded door.
Upon hearing Qiao Jing’s words, Zhou Yunxiang nodded his head, suddenly enlightened.
"But... Miss Qiao, how did you know it was a mirror cipher? Because there are many common passwords in escape rooms. I’ve seen quite a few, but I really hadn’t thought of that one."
As she searched, Qiao Jing answered:
"Process of elimination."
At that moment, she had listed many strings of numbers in her mind along with various types of passwords, and in the end, only the mirror cipher fit the bill.
When those twisted symbols were mirrored, they gradually began to resemble numbers. With a little touch-up, she easily arrived at the answer.
Zhou Yunxiang’s eyes lit up, and he looked at Qiao Jing with admiration.
"So that’s how it was, thank you, Miss Qiao."
Hearing Zhou Yunxiang’s words, Li Yunyun was so angry she clenched her teeth, and forcefully pulled him to her side.
"What are you thanking her for? Hurry up and help me find clues!"
She would solve the password for the third challenge!
She would not let Qiao Jing, that little vixen, steal all the limelight. That password just now might have just been Qiao Jing’s specialty, after all.
She refused to believe that Qiao Jing was adept at solving all kinds of passwords!
With this in mind, Li Yunyun immediately sprang into action, starting to look for clues around the room.
What do you think?
