Chapter 55
The assistant took the laptop and opened it to show the video that was recorded earlier to the Pascalls. In the video, Marty’s accomplice was confessing to what he did to Nydia under the lake.
“I was hiding under the lake all along. When Nydia jumped in, I immediately grabbed her to prevent her from saving her son. But she struggled hard, and I was afraid that she would break free, so I hit her head on a rock, and she bled and fainted. I got scared and left.”
When the Pascalls heard this statement, they all looked at Nydia, who still had a guilty look on her face. “Although I didn’t do this, it happened because of me, and I still bear responsibility. I’m sorry!” This was the first thing she said after Rosalind and the others arrived, without defending herself.
Sibley knew that Nydia was seriously injured at the time, and the doctor said it was difficult for her to wake up and she might become a vegetable.
In fact, she also suspected that it might not have been Nydia who did it. After all, the cost was too high. But then she thought that maybe Nydia had gone too far on her own.
“Okay, she didn’t do it, she wouldn’t be so cruel to hurt her own son like that. Let’s just leave it at that,” Rosalind took a deep breath to calm her anger. It was difficult for her to hold in her anger now.
“What about before? Has she done anything less before? And she herself said that it happened because of her. Tavish almost drowned, what if there’s a next time? What if both children are in danger next time? Who can guarantee that?!”
Nydia’s heart was struck by these questions. Her hand unconsciously grabbed the hem of her pants, and her nails were slightly bent because of the force. The veins under her skin were prominent.
In her mind, she couldn’t help but recall everything that happened before she died in her previous life. Molly and Tavish did get into trouble because of her. Especially Tavish, who went through so much pain. No matter how much she begged and regretted, she couldn’t save the two children, and she herself was tortured by Willette, neither human nor ghost.
Willette slowly drew the knife across Nydia’s face, one cut at a time.
“Nydia, don’t you think you look beautiful now?” she said. “You’re bleeding so much, it looks great.”
“Without your face, what are you going to use to fight me?” she taunted.
The voices in her ear were like those of demons.
“Nydia!”
“Mommy!”
“Mum!”
Several voices called out almost at the same time.
Nydia snapped back to reality and saw an apple flying towards her. She instinctively closed her eyes.

When she opened her eyes, she saw an arm blocking the apple.
“Jesse, are you okay?” Rosalind asked worriedly, seeing that the apple had hit his arm.
“If it hit Molly or Tavish, what would you do?” he replied coldly, his voice as icy as his expression.
Rosalind’s face turned pale.
She had indeed been anxious, calling Nydia several times without a response, and Nydia had glared at her angrily. In her haste, she had picked up the apple and thrown it.
She never expected her son to block it with his arm.
Jesse’s arm was now red, clearly showing the force of the impact.
“Okay, your mother didn’t mean it,” Andrew said, not wanting Jesse to speak ill of his wife.
Jesse didn’t say anything else.
“Nydia, you’ve caused a lot of damage to our family. After thinking it over, we don’t think we can live together happily. You should divorce Jesse,” Sibley said.
