Chapter 1230 Just for a Woman? Useless!
Just as he finished speaking, there was a noise from the stall.
Someone was there.
He slowly walked over and kicked the door open, only to find Carter standing inside, looking embarrassed.
Carter never expected to run into Christopher here.
Lately, Carter had been down on his luck. After telling his friends he was going to race, Grace had cut off all his credit cards.
Although he still had the card Raymond had given him, loaded with money, he felt he shouldn't use Raymond's money anymore.
Given his current spending habits, he shouldn't have been able to get into Sky Gallery, but his business partner was entertaining clients here tonight, and he had to come along. After all, they had bought the racing team together, and he needed to be there for the drinks.
But he never expected to hear Christopher's crazy talk from inside the stall.
There was no one outside, and he had no idea who Christopher was talking to, but his face was full of anger.
Carter, scared, had retreated back into the stall, not expecting the door to be kicked open.
He forced an awkward smile and even nervously touched his hair.
"Hey, Christopher, what a coincidence."
Christopher's alter ego's face darkened instantly. He had planned to keep up a gentle facade, but Carter had definitely heard what he just said. Should he kill him?
Just as this thought crossed his mind, someone knocked on the bathroom door, and a laid-back voice called out.
"Carter, did you fall in the toilet?"
It was Carter's current business partner, someone from the Adams family who had been kicked out of the family since high school for some reason.
Carter didn't care to dig into other people's secrets; it was just a business partnership, after all.
Seeing someone else coming, Christopher's alter ego quickly hid his anger, gave Carter a deep look, and left.
Carter let out a sigh of relief and patted his chest.
The laid-back guy leaned against the door and raised an eyebrow as Christopher's alter ego walked past him.
Then he saw Carter come out, looking terrified, and burst into laughter. "Seriously?"
He threw an arm around Carter's shoulder, acting like a good friend. Carter had been hanging out with him a lot lately, drinking and chatting.
"Seriously, you have no idea. Christopher freaks me out these days."
As they walked out together, Carter suddenly stopped in his tracks because he saw Grace.
Grace was here for a business meeting. Ever since Christopher's alter ego joined the Montague Group, she had been called back.
Though she didn't have any shares in the Montague Group, she was earning a high salary.
Seeing Carter with another guy in the hallway, Grace's face darkened. She quickly excused herself from her business partners and walked over.
Carter quickly shrugged off his friend's arm.
"You go ahead. My mom's coming."
The guy left quickly, and by the time Grace got there, he was gone.
"Carter, who was that? Didn't I tell you not to hang out with shady people? Why don't you ever listen? I've cut off your cards, so you better behave. When you come back and apologize, I'll give you money again."
Carter found her accusatory tone laughable.
He had been away from home for so long without a call, and now their first meeting was a scolding.
He wanted to walk away, but Grace grabbed his wrist.
"Don't cause any more trouble. While Raymond is dealing with his issues, come back with me. I'll get Christopher to find you a job at the Montague Group. By the time Raymond returns, you'll have established yourself, and he won't say anything." Carter froze, and then he quickly asked, "What happened to Raymond?" Grace's face twisted with a sneer.
"Selena disappeared, and he's been a wreck ever since. He's holed up in Ashbourne Manor, hasn't come out for days, and is desperately searching for Selena. It's bizarre three different groups are looking for her, and no one has found her yet."
Carter shook off her hand and instinctively wanted to go to Ashbourne Manor, but she added.
"Going to Ashbourne Manor won't help. He won't see anyone right now, all because of a woman. Pathetic."
Grace had never liked Selena, and seeing Raymond in such a state over a woman she disapproved of only made her more disdainful.
Carter quickly left, not wanting to hear any more.
He didn't know when it started, but just seeing Grace made him feel irritated.
As he walked out the door, he saw his business partner waiting nearby, who casually threw an arm around his shoulder.
"Your mom's pretty fierce."
Carter rolled his eyes at him. "Not everyone can be as carefree as you."
"If you don't want to be controlled, just cut ties with your family like I did." Carter looked him up and down.
"You really did cut ties with the Adams family. I'm curious, what did you do to get kicked out? You're their only son, and with a cousin like Paul, you had everything in Silver Bay City. But you've been out of the Adams Manor for years and never went back."
"Personal reasons." The laid-back voice turned serious. "You'll find out someday."
"I don't want to know. The Montague family is messy enough; I don't need to get involved in your family's drama."noveldrama
