Reclaiming Her Heart

When Selena woke up for the second time, it was still pitch black around her.

She fumbled around the walls, trying to get up, when a maid's voice came from nearby.

"Ms. Fair, do you need to use the restroom?"

She nodded and was helped to the restroom.

The restroom was padded with sponges to prevent bumps, clearly having been

carefully prepared while she was resting.

She found the faucet, turned on the water, and used the cold water to wake herself up.

She could sense someone standing next to her.

"Ms. Fair, if you need anything, just let me know."

"Where am I?"

When could she go back?

The maid was silent for a few seconds before saying, "I'm sorry, I can't tell you that." Selena wasn't stupid. She remembered escaping from Lawrence's mansion, falling to the ground, and seeing someone in front of her through her blurry vision.

The man was holding a black umbrella, very tall, looking like a god descending from the heavens from her angle.

But she felt uneasy.

Just as she was about to ask more questions, the door to the room opened, and the maid called out, "Sir."

"Leave us."

"Yes, sir."

After the maid left, the man slowly closed the door and walked towards Selena. "Feeling any better?"

"Who are you?"

Selena couldn't see anything, her eyes blank and unfocused.

To the man, she looked fragile in her thin nightgown, with droplets of water still on her cheeks and her hair damp, exuding a pale and weary aura that evoked pity.

"You'll know who I am once your eyes recover."

Selena's hand gripped the edge of the window, her tone indifferent.

"Why did you bring me here? Do you want to make a deal with me, or use me to threaten Raymond?"

"Threaten Raymond?" the man chuckled, "He's barely holding himself together right now. Why would I need to threaten him?"

Selena's heart skipped a beat. What happened to Raymond?

Before she could ask, the man continued.

"Because of your disappearance, he's been a wreck. I heard he's been holed up in Ashbourne Manor for days. Recently, Christopher has been handling his business dealings, and the Montague family is fully backing Christopher."

Selena's fingers tightened around the window edge, feeling like she could hardly breathe.

She knew Raymond's insecurities well. Now that she was missing, he would not only blame himself but also feel lost.

Selena hadn't realized how important she was to Raymond until she heard he took that statue after getting drunk. She then understood that Raymond cared for her more than she had imagined.

Even though he never said it, she could feel it.

"Selena, Raymond is in a precarious situation now, and you can't see. Do you think those who want to take him down won't use you to threaten him? If your eyes never recover, you'll be his weakness, his most fatal weakness."

Selena didn't respond because the man was right.

Raymond had made many enemies in Silver Bay City. Now, with her disappearance, his condition was known to most people in their circle. They might even gossip about how he lost control over a woman.

People would realize how much Raymond cared about her. When she returned, those who wanted to go after him wouldn't let her go either.

Not to mention, the higher-ups' attitudes were unclear.

Selena felt a surge of anxiety and once again felt her own powerlessness.
