My Billionaire Family 535
On the small island in the heart of the lake owned by Carson, Cherise, and Carson sat facing each other.
"Your wedding with Morris is just a few days away. Take this. Consider it part of your dowry from me," Carson said with a smile, pushing a medium-sized wooden box toward Cherise.
Cherise glanced at the wooden box and smiled, "Didn't you alreally give me something back in Larkston? Why another gift?"
Carson chuckled, "What I gave you back in Larkston was just something valuable-too common. This is different. It's not about the price but my blessing for you."
"It may not be worth much in the eyes of others, but I believe it's the perfect dowry for you. Open it and take a look," he said.
Hearing this, Cherise felt a tinge of anticipation. She lifted the lid, only to find a single sheet of paper inside. She frowned in confusion and asked, "What is this?"
She picked up the paper and unfolded it.
As soon as she read it, her eyes widened in shock. "This is the property deed for this island? Cherise-my name is on it? You're transferring the ownership of this island to me? No, I can accept this. This island belongs to you." Carson waved his hand. "At my age, what do I need it for?"
Cherise continued, "Even if you don't need it, Eugene is still here. Why give it to me?"
Carson laughed, "A girl is more precious than a boy. Besides, Eugene has his responsibilities back at the TenderHeart Clinic in Larkston. The entire TenderHeart business is waiting for him to take over."
"Listen to me. I give you this island for a reason. Your grandfather has passed, and You aren't close to the Leach family. I've thought about it. When a woman gets married, she should have a grand send-off from her family's home," he said. "I may not have many attachments left in this world, but I want this island to be your home, a place that shows the world you have a strong family behind you," he added.
"In this world, where every man for himself, having support is crucial. I want you to marry from here and I want everyone to know that your family gave you an island as the dowry. Cherise, be a good girl and accept it," Carson said. Hearing his words, Cherise felt that her teachers welled up her eyes. She hadn't expected Carson to think so far ahead for her.
Carson did it so she wouldn't be looked down upon. Just so she could, like any other woman, leave her family's home with pride and dignity on her wedding day.
"Thanks, Carson," Cherise's voice was a little choked as she spoke.
Carson nodded, "We're family. No need to say thanks. I'm happy too. This little island is going to get lively again," He laughed heartily, clearly in a good mood.
A moment later, Eugene walked in from outside, saying, "Carson there's someone on the other side asking to see you again."
Carson and Cherise exchanged a glance over their coffee. After taking a sip, Carson said leisurely, "The same person?"
Eugene nodded. "Yep, it's him. This is his tenth time asking for a meeting."
Carson hummed thoughtfully, "Let him come up, but alone. It was bound to happen sooner or later."
Eugene replied, "Got it." Then, he turned to head toward the dock.
Cherise watched Eugene's back and, thinking about Carson's expression, asked, "Carson, who is it?"
Carson put down his coffee cup. Tristan Walton."
Cherise's eyes widened in confusion. "Oh, should I step out then
Carson shook his head. "No need. There's nothing to hide. You've come all this way, so just sit back and relax."
Cherise nodded, but she could tell from Carson's tone that he wasn't particularly pleased with Tristan. She wondered why.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Tristan was standing next to the same car he had arrived in with Lydia, looking anxiously across the coffee, as if he was afraid of being turned down by Carson once again. Tristan let out a sigh of relief as he saw Eugene's speedboat approaching. He quickly stepped forward.
Soon, Eugene ran up the shore from the speedboat. As soon as they met, Tristan couldn't wait to ask, "Eugene, did Mr. Dorian Finch agree to meet with me?"
Eugene glanced at him and nodded. "Yes, Mr. Walton, please follow me on the speedboat."
He then looked at the bodyguards behind Tristan and said, "But Carson said only you can come up. He's used to his peace, and he doesn't like noise."
Tristan understood and took the gift that his bodyguard had prepared in advance. "I get it. Mr. Dorian Finch has always enjoyed solitude. Please lead the way, Eugene."
About ten minutes later, led by Eugene, Tristan arrived at the spot where Carson and Cherise were having coffee and chatting.
Tristan greeted Carson politely with a bow, "Carson, long time no see. I heard you were in Betrico. I was in Astamia recently and just got back a few days ago. I came here especially to say hello." Carson nodded in response and pointed to the seat next to Cherise. "Have a seat."
Tristan nodded and looked at Cherise. "And this is?"
"My young apprentice, Cherise," Carson said without any concealment.
Tristan was taken aback for a moment. He hadn't expected that Cherise he had heard about from Lydia would be such a stunning beauty. She was indeed breathtaking.
But he quickly composed himself, nodded briefly at Cherise, and took the seat next to her.
Carson poured a cup of coffee for Tristan and pushed it toward him. "Have some coffee first. We can talk about whatever you want after you've had your coffee."
Unlike when Garson met Cherise
and Arthur, his expression was
completely unreadable when he saw Tristan. was impossible to tell what Carson thought of
Tristan-whether he liked bijelinek
ornoveldrama
distiked him. But it seemed like they had a past.
After finishing his coffee, Tristan put down the cup.
Carson noticed and said, "Tristan, are you here just to catch up, or is there something else?"
Tristan pursed his lips when he
heard this. "A teacher for a day isza father for life. Please forgive my mistakes from my youth. I've been haunted by that incident all these years. I know I was wrong.
With that, Tristan stood up and bowed deeply to Carson.
Cherise glanced up when Tristan started speaking. She had no idea that Carson and Tristan had some sort of hidden past.
Carson, however, remained
expressionless and said calmly, "The
past is the past. There's no need to
dwell on it. You already have a new teacher, who has passed away Calling me 'teacher' now is O inappropriate."
