Tears clung to Mayra’s lashes. Tilting her head to the side, she wiped

them away. It took her a while to recover from the heart–wrenching feeling and suffocation.

“No, I just had a nightmare.”

Anderson stroked her soft, long hair. “Are your legs still hurting?”

Looking down, she shook her head. “They’re much better now.”

Her slim, straight legs were exposed outside of the blanket. The only flaw on them was the light scarring from the healed wounds.

From the bedside table, Anderson found the medicinal cream and moved

to the foot of the bed. When he held her tiny ankle, it created a stark

contrast with the thickness of his wrist.

Mayra wasn’t such a meek person. These injuries were not a big deal to her. She drew back her leg a little. “Andy, it’s alright. These injuries are nothing. They’ll heal in a few days.”

He grabbed her ankle which she was trying to pull away. “It’ll look ugly if it leaves a scar. A new batch of clothes will arrive a few days later. Choose the ones you like and keep them.”

Leaning against the headboard of the bed, Mayra looked out the full windows. “I don’t mind wearing anything.”

After applying the cream, she couldn’t walk around on her feet. So, Anderson carried her downstairs when lunch was ready.

Mayra noticed that the maids in the house were new, except Julia. Frowning, Julia seemed deeply dissatisfied with Mayra, but with Anderson around, she quickly set aside her dissatisfaction no matter how intense it

was.

Absent–mindedly, Mayra ate her lunch. It was rare for her and Anderson to have a meal so quietly.

Biting her fork, Mayra nodded. “Where’s my new high school?”

“St. Stephen High School, I picked this school for you. It’s not stressful to study there. Whenever you’re free, you can stay home and spend time with me.*

St. Stephen High School was the best private elite school in Belchester. In her previous life, Mayra attended this school and was the outcast due to her identity as Anderson’s sister.

Furthermore, Isabel’s cousin, Yvette, treated her like a thorn and didn’t want to have any contact with her in school.

“I don’t want to attend school there. Instead, I’d like to attend a regular high school. Something closer to home is fine as well. Is that okay?” Mayra

asked.

The school fees of St. Stephen High School kicked off at 300,000 dollars a year. With Anderson’s status in Belchester, this amount of school fees was nothing to him.

Anderson thought that Mayra wanted to save money for him. After all, a hundred dollars could last her two months with her cognitive spending

power.

However, the situation now was different from the past. As long as Anderson was willing, he could spoil Mayra like a princess whom everyone

envied.

“I picked this school for you. Don’t you like it?”

Mayra shook her head. “It’s not like that.”

She said no more after that, leaving Anderson to guess about what was on her mind. “Since you don’t like it, let’s forget it. Later, I’ll ask Shane to bring you a list of schools. You can choose whichever you want to attend.”

Only then did a smile spread across Mayra’s face. “Aren’t you going to work today, Andy?”

“Yeah, I have a meeting later.”

When Mayra lifted her head, she took a glance and saw the beautiful crystal piano in the living room. On the top of the piano was an angel sculptured out of crystal.

She had seen this piano on the screen in a shopping mall before. It was a unique, customized collection. As the only piece in the world, it was

priceless.

From the maids‘ conversation earlier, Mayra recalled that this was Anderson’s wedding gift to Isabel.

It didn’t surprise Mayra that Anderson spent a fortune to please Isabel. If this had happened in the past, she would have started an argument with him. However, she was surprisingly calm now. She thought she would be upset, but she wasn’t.
