Chapter 1139
Chapter 1139:
His composure was entirely gone, replaced by frantic regret. He now deeply cursed himself for choosing this necklace without giving it enough thought.
“‘Mr. Morgan, please believe me, I truly didn’t intend to offend you!’” Hoyt pleaded desperately. But Fabian’s expression remained unmoved, his voice devoid of emotion.
“‘Enough is enough. You don’t need to explain further.’”
Fabian’s calm demeanor made his next words cut even deeper.
“‘Perhaps you are a young man full of passion for your career,’” he said, his tone faintly condescending. “‘And I do admire your fearless attitude. However, as of now, you are not qualified to be Dibya Group’s partner.’”
Although Fabian’s words were measured, the underlying mockery was impossible to miss.
It was clear to everyone present that Hoyt lacked the ability to meet Dibya Group’s standards. His actions had proven him too reckless and thoughtless. To put it bluntly, he simply wasn’t fit to cooperate with such a prestigious company.
“‘Moreover, before coming to Ontdale, I conducted some investigations of my own.’” Fabian’s gaze shifted deliberately in Kellan’s direction, his voice steady and commanding.
“‘The Lloyd family’s only heir is Kellan Lloyd,’” he announced, his tone rich and resonant, ensuring no one missed his words. “‘And for my upcoming investment projects, I will only be dealing with Kellan. He is my sole certified partner.’”
Hoyt’s eyes widened in shock, the weight of Fabian’s words hitting him like a physical blow.
It was as if a resounding slap had echoed across the room, stinging his pride and dignity.
All the effort he had put in, every calculated move, had been for nothing.
Even worse, his very status was now being openly mocked in front of everyone.
Why? Was it simply because he was an illegitimate child? Did that mean he would be inferior to Kellan no matter how hard he tried? He refused to accept it.
“‘Mr. Morgan, you can’t just judge me by where I come from. It’s unfair, isn’t it? At least take a moment to actually get to know me first.’” Hoyt’s emotions bubbled over, and before he could stop himself, the words spilled out in a rush.
“‘After all, you were nothing but a struggling underdog in Ontdale back in the day, yet you clawed your way up and built an empire from nothing! Nobody can predict what’s ahead, so how can you just dismiss me like this?’”
His bold declaration echoed through the room, leaving everyone momentarily speechless.
How could Hoyt dare compare himself to Fabian? Didn’t he see the huge difference between them?
Back then, Fabian—formerly known as Collen Green—had indeed been poor, but he clawed his way to success through grit and relentless determination.
Hoyt, on the other hand, had leaned on the privileges of his status—Brook’s son, though illegitimate. He milked the resources handed to him without earning them.
“‘I’m not prejudiced against your background. It’s you, as a person, that I find intolerable—disgusting, even.’” Fabian’s words cut straight to the point, leaving no room for misinterpretation, and his gaze turned icy as he spoke.
“‘What I loathe above all else are freeloaders—people who take everything handed to them without a bit of gratitude and act as though they earned it.’”
