Shouldn't Have Kissed You

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Maya kept her mouth closed all the while. She could see the fuming fire from Kimberly's eyes and she

rather stayed quiet. Wait, when has she ever talked back anyway? She moved her eyes from Kimberly

to Chris'. He looked confused from what she could see.

Yes, he was confused. And she did understand why. All the while he thought he was with the love of his

life but it was her. Jezebel. As he loved to call her. Maybe she deserved the name after all. Wasn't that

what the real Jezebel from the Bible did? Taking what wasn't hers?

The only difference with her and the Jezebel from the Bible was that, she took someone's boyfriend.

While the Jezebel from the Bible encouraged her husband to take the land that never belonged to

them. Hope those who know the story know what I'm talking about.4

But I'm no selfish.

Maya tried to convince herself. Of course, she wasn't selfish. She had tried to push him away. Tried to

tell him that she wasn't Kimberly but all he kept on doing was to tell her not to fight it. It wasn't fair on

her side. It wasn't even entirely her fault.

I mean, she was supposed to be there in the first place. Maya had been invited to dinner by her new

friend after three days of turning him down. It was the guy that she met four days ago. The arrogant

bastard who seemed to follow her everywhere she went making it seem like a conside. 4

Maybe it was but Maya gave it a 0.99% of conceded. So in order for him to stop following her around,

she had accepted his dinner date. And that's why she was there earlier. To compose herself with the

breeze that was at the balcony.

She needed to come her nerves down since the last time she had done that was years ago. Yes, when

she was in college with her long time crush that turned out to be a disaster. So, her being early was a

way to calm herself down and also to avoid someone.

Of course, it was Chris. She had stayed three days away from him and she hadn't planned to show her

face till their last day of the 'honeymoon'. At least that was her plan. But now, here he was, standing in

front of her like he just landed from another planet.

She didn't know why, but whatever he wore, made him look handsome every time. Maya looked deep

into his eyes to such for something. His face wore confusion but his eyes said something else.

Something different from confusion and surprise. If only she could place it.

But no, it was hard for her. Maybe it's just that he had changed for those three days. I mean, one

changes from one mood to another within a second. Then, what was three days to him? Besides, he

was with his love of life.

And with her pretending to be always asleep when she heard him every night open the door after

midnight wasn't easy. She was his wife, and she was obliged to wait till her husband came home for

her to sleep. So, she did that without letting him know she was always worried. Worried that something

bad might happen while he was out there.3

Maya shifted her weight to the left leg. It seemed like forever since Kimberly had stepped outside and

found them kissing. That kiss. She fought the barge to place her hand on her lips. It was just like the

first time they kissed. On his stage, his show and in front of his funs.

Little did they know that it would cost their happiness. Yet, here they were making the same mistake

and this time, it was the jealous girlfriend who found them. It's like their kissing was a curse to them.

They were never made to be and she just knew it. He was Kimberly's while she, she was destined to

her patients.

"How dare you, bitch?" Kimberly came towards her shouting at her.

Maya hadn't even heard her foot steps despite the high heels she wore. To her, Kimberly was standing

at the door way and in a spilt of a second, she in front of her slapping her right cheek hard.1

It hurt very much that she had to lean herself to the left holding her cheek. Tears welled up to her eyes

but she tried so hard to fight them. She wasn't about to cry in front of them. No, she wasn't going to

give them that satisfaction.4

"You whore," Kimberly said breathing hard, "wasn't one time enough for you? That you even followed

us to our dinner date?"

Maya stood straight to look at Kimberly. Her hands where both on her side. She moved her gaze to

Chris who seemed to be glued from where he stood. But his eyes had changed. Where they apologies

that she saw or she was just seeing what she wanted to see?

Kimberly lifted her hand again to strike but someone held her hand. It wasn't Chris as Maya had hope

to be. Why would he stop his girlfriend from hitting the woman who ruined his life, anyway?1

"You lay you hand on my date again," Leonel said letting go of her hand, "you'll answer it to the

police."18

Leonel moved to Maya and placed his hand on her waist. He couldn't help but wonder how far this lady

had gone. If he hadn't arrived on time, he didn't want even to imagine.

"Are you okay?" He asked Maya with a worried face.

"Yeah, I'm okay," she said as she looked up at him, "let's just go to our table."

Leonel took her small hands into his, "If you're not, we can have this date another day, love."1

"It's okay," she spoke in an assuring voice, "I'm perfectly fine."

"How about we just go somewhere else, I mean, I thought we would be the only ones here."

Maya pulled her hands away, "We won't waste other people's effort because there are other people

here. Please, let's go to our table."

"As you wish, love."

Maya moved towards there table with the couple that stood there long forgotten. Leonel pulled a seat

for her which she sat on and thanked him. They ordered there dinner after a few minutes of waiting. To

her, everything tasted like acid but she forced herself to eat. It was the only way to get rid of Leonel

anyway.

He kept on talking none stop during their dinner. He had a sense of humour, she had to give him that.

But her mind was far from where they were. She couldn't help but get more angry. She had the right to

do that.

After all she was only human. Leonel placed his hand on top of hers which she winked.2

"I've been talking and you're not even listening," he said, "not unless you're looking for a way to have

dinner with me again."2

"Sorry about that," she apologized, "it's just that I'm really upset now."

Maya watched Leonel pull out money from the wallet. He places it on the table and Maya could tell that

there was a big tips there. Leonel got up from his seat and went to hers. He pulled it for her as a

gentleman he was before starching out his hand for her to take.

"Come with me," he said when he saw her hesitate for a while.

"To where, I'm not even done eating," she complained as she looked at her almost not touched food.

"We will find something else for you to eat, but first, I've to take you somewhere to get rid of that anger

that you're feeling."

Maya looked into his dark eyes, he was serious about what he was saying.

"I don't club Leonel," she said still not taking his hand.

"Who said anything about clubbing?" He asked still locking his gaze with hers, "All you've to do is trust

me, pretty."

"Haha very funny," she faked a smile, "I don't trust that easily."

Leonel smiled at her statement, "But you can't help but trust this handsome one here," he said holding

two fingers at his chin.

Maya laugh out loud that she was sure that Chris and his girlfriend heard at a far table. Thank God, her

back faced them and she didn't have to see there hateful faces. Of course, she didn't do that

intentional, it's just that with Leonel, everything came out naturally as hard as she tried hard to get.4

"Aren't we full of ourselves again, Mr.?" She asked taking his hand, "just make sure you're not

kidnapping me."2

"And I'm sure you wouldn't mind me doing that," Leonel said offering his arm to her which she took.

Maya pushed him a little as they walked to the double doors. She couldn't resist looking at the far end

where Chris sat. He looked their way and she could feel his anger from where he sat. Kimberly gave

them there back and she could give anything just to see the look on her face. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Someone is having a bad evening.11

She said as she moved her gaze to the now opened doors. She was too. How could she forget the slap

that Kimberly gave her. That only was enough to return the anger that she thought Leonel had taken

away with his humour. This was the second time that Kimberly hit her.

And how many more were there to come? She had no idea and she wondered when she will get the

guts to stand for herself. To be able to fight back for her own good.

After a thirty minutes of drive, Leonel pulled his car in front of a two story house building. The place

was so cold due to the trees that were surrounding it. Maya rubbed her arms to get heat for her body

but it was useless.

Leonel pulled a jacket from the back seat and helped Maya on it. He opened the door and stepped

outside followed by Maya behind. She asked where they were and he said his house. Maya felt a

shiver run through her body but he assured her that he won't try anything funny unless she wanted him

to. Again, with him trying to lighten the mood.

He too her to the second floor and towards the balcony. If the outside was cold, it was nothing to what

she felt at that time. All the wind blew there and she wondered how someone survived living there.

"You know, I always come her to take out my anger, I give it all to nature by shouting it out and by the

time I'm done, all the anger in me is also gone. I feel like a new person and these trees and the cold,

carry it away."3

Maya looked at him, "What are you trying to say?"

Leonel leaned at the balcony, "Since we met four days ago, I noticed something was wrong with you. I

mean, it's like you're carrying the world on your shoulders and that's not good news. So here, is your

chance to give it to nature, let it know all your frustrations. Just trust me."

Maya closed her eyes and began to murmur something to herself.

"What are you doing?" Leonel asked.

"Giving my frustration to the nature?"

"I didn't mean it that way," he said moving to her, "You've to shout your anger out," he said pushing her

to the balcony.

"Like this," he said lifting his hands, "I'm tired, tired of everything, tired of letting Maya see I'm a

handsome guy but she can't," he shouted looking at her.4

"Ooh, you egoistic bastard."2

"What?" He asked innocently, "I was just giving you an example, now you try."

"I am tired," she began.

"Give it all your energy Maya," he said, "mean while, I will be making us dinner since you'll be spent

went you come down stairs. I can tell you've a lot to give the nature to last for years without wanting to

hear anything from you."

Leonel walked out before Maya could say anything to him.

Let's try this, Maya.

"I'm tired, tired of my life. Tired of everyone hating me. Tired of everyone thinking that I'm worthless

person. Tired of seeing hate in everyone that is supposed to love me," she shouted her lungs out as

the cold breeze blew her hair away.

"Why can't my dad love me? Why can't he see me like a daughter that I am to him. I'm so tired of him

seeing me worthless when I've done everything to make him happy. I'm tired of him seeing me as killer.

I'm so tired nature. Please help me.3

"Help make my husband see that I never wanted this too. That it wasn't my fault that we got married.

That I never wished to see him separated from his girlfriend. Please Mother Nature. Please, I'm so

damn tired. Help me get this anger that I feel inside of me. Please get it all out of me.

"I'm really really tired," she said kneeling down and letting her tears flows. The tears she had been

holding for the past four days. The tears she fought every single day for those four days. Once she was

done, she wiped her tears away and got up.

Just as Leonel had said, she was so much spent. But she felt better. She felt like a new person. All the

weight was gone but she was sure not for long at least.

"That smells delicious," she said once she walked inside the kitchen, "can I help in anyway?"

Leonel looked up, "Yeah, go and seat on the dinning table," he took the plates out, "dinner will be

served in a jiffy."

Maya did as she was ordered.

"The food was so... What's the word again?"

"Just say that I'm a better chef than you're," Leonel said as he gave her a plate to wipe after he rizzed it

with clean water.

Maya said nothing to him. Once they were done, they went to sit by the fire where she slept after

twenty minutes of them sitting there.

It was only 10:30pm and Leonel let her sleep for a while.3
