Chapter 864
Chapter 864:
Eileen and Jessica weren’t blood-related. That meant either Eileen and Conroy weren’t related, or Conroy wasn’t Jessica’s father.noveldrama
They both had Conroy as their father and Gianna as their aunt. There had to be a blood connection somewhere.
Eileen didn’t care if it was Conroy’s daughter. She just wanted to know if she was Conroy’s daughter.
Eileen handed Gabriela to Bryan, grabbed the car keys, and sped off to the hospital, already dialing Raymond’s number.
After getting her blood drawn for a quick paternity test, she found a spot in the hospital’s waiting area to rest. After a rough night’s sleep and the blood test, she was feeling a bit lightheaded.
“Eileen?” Dalores’ voice floated down from above.
Eileen looked up to see Dalores sitting down beside her, Emerson cradled in her arms. She was pressing a cotton ball to the child’s tiny finger.
“What happened?” Eileen asked, concerned.
“He got another fever,” Dalores sighed.
“He had one when you were in the hospital last time, too. He got better at home later, but then the fever came back. The doctor wanted to run some blood tests.”
Little Emerson, only about five months old, whimpered and clung to Dalores, clearly uncomfortable.
Dalores looked exhausted and worried.

“This is the first time he’s been sick. Why can’t he get better?”
“Kids get sick; it’s normal. But fevers, you’ve got to watch those closely. The blood tests will tell you what’s going on. If there’s nothing wrong, you won’t need to worry so much,” Eileen reassured her. “When will you get the results?”
“We drew the blood yesterday afternoon, so the results should be out soon. We just did a few more tests.” Just as Dalores finished speaking, the nurse called out Emerson’s name, a somber expression on her face.
Dalores’ heart lurched as she sprang to her feet and hurried over.
“I’m Emerson’s mother. Do you have his blood test results now?” she asked urgently.
The nurse’s eyes were filled with sympathy as she glanced at the small child in Dalores’ arms.
“Yes, we do. The doctor recommends a bone biopsy. He suspects Emerson may have acute leukemia.”
The world seemed to tilt beneath Dalores’ feet. Her legs buckled, and she stumbled, clutching Emerson tightly. Eileen leapt up to steady her, but the sudden movement sent them both tumbling into a nearby chair. Eileen winced as her back bumped into the chair.
“Are you alright?” Several nurses rushed over to assist them. Ignoring her own discomfort, Eileen noticed Dalores’ trembling arms struggling to hold the baby.
Gently, Eileen took Emerson in her arms and turned to the nurse. “If the child gets a bone biopsy, when will the results be out? What are the chances it’s actually leukemia?”
The nurse’s voice was gentle.
