Chapter 42
Chapter 42:
Pinning my hands with a single one, he licked my collarbone before returning his lips to mine, moving fiercely against mine. His tongue tangled with mine. I felt myself getting lost in the sensation, my body arching beneath him.
“Oh, please,” I begged, my hands grasping at his shirt, pulling it off his shoulders. I wanted to see his beautiful body.
He broke away, his eyes burning with desire, and yanked off his shirt, revealing his chiseled chest. I gasped, my hands reaching out to touch him, to feel his warmth beneath my fingertips. Returning my gesture, his hands reached for my button, dragging off my shorts.
His eyes seemed to drink in my body. For a moment, he only stared, his pupils dilating before he licked his lips, his gaze darkening with passion as his erection pressed against his trousers.
“Jasmine,” he whispered, his voice hoarse. “I want you so much.” He didn’t need to say anything else. I could see it in his eyes. His words seemed to be the final piece of the puzzle, and I felt a contraction between my legs. I knew he was already hard; all I had to do was take it a step further.
“I want more…” I breathed, my voice low and demanding as I parted my legs to let his lower body press firmly against my core. I arched into the pressure, feeling a wave of pleasure wash over me.
But then, I saw it. His eyes changed, shifting from turquoise to a deep, burning red. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before, and it sent a shiver down my spine. Suddenly, he sprang away from me, his body tense and rigid. I was left lying there, confused and surprised.noveldrama
Stepping into the long hallway, I was determined to make my way outside for a gust of fresh air, desperate to escape the thoughts swirling in my head. Ryder’s kiss still lingered on my lips, and my hands subconsciously traced the spots where his hands had traveled. In urgent need of a distraction, I’d come outside—something I’d never done until now.
As I walked away from the pack house, I couldn’t help but be in awe of my surroundings. Miniature hedges lined the pathways, and the air was filled with the rich fragrance of flowers. Even the sky here looked bluer. The grandeur of the castle-like structure, surrounded by such beauty, took my breath away. Towering stone walls stretched up towards the sky, making me feel small and insignificant.
“Who would live in a place like this?” I wondered aloud, my voice barely above a whisper as I walked along the stone pathways. The aesthetic reminded me of the Victorian era—stones, wood, and dramatic structures. “Just like the owner,” I thought with a frown.

I had never seen a pack house so grand, so majestic. Others I’d seen were usually stately homes. It was a testament to the power and wealth of the Lycans, and it did well to represent their image. I couldn’t help but compare it to the werewolf packs I had encountered before. They were always so much smaller, more intimate.
“My lady.” The term rang in my ears again. Did it mean mate? This was another area where Lycans and werewolves differed. Werewolves believed in soulmates, in the mate bond that tied two people together for life. Lycans, on the other hand, chose their own partners, committing to them without the need for a mystical bond. But then, what about Isabel? Besides, it wasn’t like I was the first or going to be the last.
I had limited knowledge about Lycans, but one thing was sure—Lycans would go through anything for the one they chose. Their commitment was unwavering, unshakable. My thoughts drifted back to Ryder, and I bit my lip.
Scolding myself for not wearing a proper coat, I rubbed my hands against my arms as I shivered. The cold wind whipped through the garden as leaves thrashed against each other, my breath forming round puffs in the crisp morning air. The sun was up, but the proximity to the mountains made the wind still chilly. It felt like autumn, but it was only spring, and I could only imagine what winter would feel like.
After nearly thirty minutes of walking aimlessly, lost in thought, I paused in my tracks and looked around.
“Shit!” I hissed under my breath. I couldn’t even remember where I’d come from, realizing I had wandered too far. The hedges all looked alike, and I felt frustrated trying to retrace my steps.
